In this video, we explore how to be likeable as a tour leader, guide or experience host and offer 11 behaviours used by emotionally intelligent people. You can’t be liked by everyone, but much of your likability is in your own hands!
Consider the most likeable people that you have ever met.
    Describe them to yourself.
What is it that made you so comfortable around them?
Now take a look at the words you used. I am willing to bet that you largely focused on qualities that under people’s control, things like approachability, humility, positivity, etc.
These qualities, and others like them, describe people who are skilled in emotional intelligence (EQ).
There is even research data from TalentSmart for over a million people that shows people who possess these skills aren’t just highly likeable, they outperform those who don’t by a large margin. Ninety percent of top performers have high EQs, people with high EQs make $29,000 more annually than people with low EQs, and a single-point increase in your EQ adds $1,300 to your salary.
Dr. Travis Bradberry, the award-winning coauthor of the #1 best selling book, Emotional Intelligence 2.0, has spent a lot of time thinking about likability, how it relates to emotional intelligence, and how humble folks like you and I can take steps to be more likeable.
You can grab a copy of his full book below, but I’ve taken the time to distil out what I think are the most important habits for us as tour leaders.
In this latest training video, I share 11 habits of likeable people and offer down-to-earth ideas on boosting your charisma, charm and likability.
We’ve also created a PDF cheat sheet, '11 Habits of Likeable Tour Leaders’, which you can download, print out, and use as you see fit!

Loved your tips. Thanks for sharing.
The traits I admire most from close friends and acquaintances are that they are great hosts, smile all the time, and take genuine interest on others when they throw a party, guide a tour, or just on a simple conversation.
Those traits are something I do want to master, which in reality they become something that permeates beyond the tours, and into one´s everyday life.
I had amazing Tour Guides to train me, guests would come back again and again looking for them...and it´s because yes they are great guides, but their foundation was plain and simple: they are just awesome human beings who are generous all the time.
We all left the company where we worked, one is currently traveling the world, and 2 of us are focused on building a solid foundation for our entrepenourships , and improving our game now that we are independent tour guides.
I read your quick story below this video, and I can relate. I sometimes believe that becoming a guide has played an important role in building my confidence. I have noticed a big change after taking lots of people on tour. And it feels great!
    Thanks again my friend :-D

Loved it. Definitely one of the most admirable traits is genuine interest in each of your passengers. I've had people say that they felt like the most important people in the group.
Remember how your parents could make you feel like you could be their favorite? Yet, everybody in the family felt the same way! Thanks again!

Hi keslee nice to see videos on this amazing topic
I m a doctor by profession and have been travelling across my country (pakistan) for last 7 years from BALTORO glacier,k2,G1,2,3,nangaparbat,broad peak to ARABIAN sea, however I m quite enthusiastic about becoming a tour guide as this is becoming my passion.I wanted to ask which tourism companies recruit tour guides around the world?Although my main aim is to promote tourism in pakistan which is almost pristine and unspoiled because many people are reluctant to travel here, but in order to gain experience of diverse cultures across the globe it intrigued me to lead world tours
Can any one guide me please ?

If it's your first or second tour take a glass of alcohol! Of course, don't drink too much and make sure it does not become a habit!
