- I get cold easily so wanted to make the campfire cardigan by makeanddocrew with a solid hexagon. After many failed attempts I gave up, only after I made a mistake making another hexagon did I get the eureka moment on how to get the hexagon to form the 'L' required. Here's how I did it.

6 YEARS IN THE FUTURE I AM IN THE EXACT SAME SITUATION 😂😂😂 VERY HAPPY THAT YOU ARE SHOWING HOW TO FIX!
Written us instructions:
Row1: Chain 4. Slip stitch in first chain.
Row2: Chain 3, dc, chain 2, *2dc chain 2* times 5 slip stitch in top of chain 3 (should have 6 sets of dc)
Row3: standing dc in first stitch(chain 3 if you don’t know how) dc in next stitch, *2dc 2tc 2dc in chain space, dc in each dc* times 5, 2dc 2tc 2dc in last chain space slip stitch in top of standing dc.
Repeat row 3 until desired size and follow normal instructions for shoulder seeming and sleeve construction.
Hola, no hablo ni entiendo inglés, soy de Colombia, pero esta muy bien explicado, tanto que logré hacerlo solo con la explicación visual. Muchas gracias.
Thank you for having your eureka moment😊. I'm still new to making garments and wanted to make a hexi cardigan and didn't want to stumble with remembering decreases. Your version is just what I needed for a starter hexi. Plus the warmer, non-holey sort was what I really wanted. I'm using a Lion Brand yarn called Landscapes Fusion and it needs an easy pattern so I won't have to pull apart my stitches because it will snag. Thanks again for sharing your discovery so we can all keep trying to make garments🎉🤗.
Thank you so much for posting this. I too get cold really easily and don't like "holey" cardigans.
Really helpful tutorial. I dislike big holes on my crochet and was struggling to work this out. Thanks for showing the way.
I found this video very helpful. Thank you! Love the hook and appreciate the fact that you took time out to share your skills even though you didn’t feel well. Thank you again! I’ll be making one soon!
Thank you so much! I wanted to do a solid hexagon, but as you said, I did it wrong. This is my game-changer. Keep stitching.
ughhh! i was looking for this! i made a huge hexagon thinking it would form the L and it didn’t 😭😭😭😭 worked so hard and it was a waste. but thank you so so much!
I have to say thank you for your lovely pattern.I finally got it done. I'm sorry I complained earlier.
what a brilliant idea!!!! thank you so much for not going too fast!!! This is the only video I could actually follow for a solid hexagon.
I’m really thankful you made this video- it’s amazing!!!!
Fab! Well done 😊
The pattern was nothing like the foto on Raverly! Thank you so much for this ❤
Thanks for that intro! This will be my next project
beautiful work! thank you. great video!
Thank you for this video.
Now I know what mistake I made and how to correct it.
⚘⚘⚘
I’m a new subscriber thanks for this video I too want to make a sweater and wanted to make a solid square instead of the granny.. thanks for this tutorial.
LOVE this look more than the classic granny, but...
...try going into only THE BACK OF EACH stitch (starting with round three but excluding the two big corner stitches) for an awesome look with a pretty border, still solid for warmth!
*I tried including the two, big corner stitches, and that looks lovely as well but is a bit more "hole-y."
Going to try this for my nephew
I’m finding it very difficult following you. Do you have written instructions. I’d love to try the solid hexagon. Thanks
I loooove the color!! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you I have been trying to learn this and now I have 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
thank you! this was just what I wanted!
You can make a hexigon into an L. I made many of these cardigans. You simply have to turn it around until you get the right corner.
Amaing❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you xx
I have been crocheting for almost 60 + years the hexagon is working up to big and floppy but can’t get it right 😊😊
Wonderful
I don't understand the standing treble.
Can you please tell me how many skeins you used to finish
How did you assemble the solid hexagons so they blended in with the fluidity of the cardigan?
Ditto! I would like to see the finished cardigan too ❤️
Is there a pattern for a collar on the hexagon cardigan ?
What is the stitch increase for each round ?
How so I know when to taper the sleeve?
I want to like to have friends that are girls that girls to wear a crochet cool outfit on like skirts and shirts and etc.
Hi I was watching your video of the solid hexagon campfire cardigan, can you please tell me how many grams of wool you need thanks
Josephine Caruana i havent finished mine yet to give an exact amount, currently my guess would be double the amount for the granny cluster campfire (blog link in description) x
How many rounds do you make the hexagon? I think my mom is a s/m. Ive looked at the written tutorial but visual is easier for me so your tutorial was great
Margo Howard it would depend on ur tension, I am making both hexagons to the same round, pinning together with stitch markers and trying it on and adding or removing rounds from there. if u can’t do that, measure ur mums waist and shoulder blades, then make the rounds till it’s an inch or two bigger than ur measurements (both hexagons together)
Did you ever finish this WIP? I’d love to see an update!
I didn’t as of yet, I have so many wips. I’ve made it my resolution every year to finish them 🙈
@@bluerosecrochet ok but this is the first year I’ve even tried to finish anything in a very long time. Crocheting has mostly been a sensory exercise and then I lose interest in a project once I find a new yarn.
@@gloriaf4015 I’m the same 🙈 why I have so many wips, of loads of different crafts too 🙈 what you working on atm?
@@bluerosecrochet for crochet I have two C2C bankets, the solid hexagon cardigan, and I have 14 hanks of baby alpaca yarn that is to pretty to use. I can’t decide what to do with it so I just sit and look at it and/or touch it every couple of days. 🤣 I also have two diamond paintings, drawing supplies and I just started learning how to make glass beads 🥴
Is there a written pattern?
Tell us about your crochet hooks. Where did you get them?
The Gilmore girls hook is by Angie Jack of Harper Baby Hooks. She’s on fb, Ig and Etsy
Maybe I’m going wrong? Watching tutorial it looks a double not a treble?
I’m using U.K. terminology. So treble is a double in us terms. Double treble is a treble is us terms. Hope that helps :)
Could you tell me what is the next step after the hexagons are the size you want......do you have a picture PLease
Linda Giacomozzi if u follow the link in the description to makeanddo's blog (its in three parts) the next step is the same for granny and solid hexagons 😊
It would be really helpful if you uk OR us I’m getting a little confused 😅
I’m U.K. I switch between the two terms. But I do believe I just used U.K. terms here, if I messed up I will have added a note on the screen
Hi looking to make it for a newborn how many rounds roughly please
I dont have a new born anymore so can't give an exact but if u know the chest on an average newborn size, half it and work to that size for each hexagon, it should give u the right size. Havent made one so this is a theory. Always add a little more for babies as they grow quick and come out all sizes 😊 message me on fb if u need any help

Первый раз вижу крючок-шприц😂
Sorry but that wasn't an L shape. The corner was not 90 degrees as it should.
can you crochet a cardigan from granny square with out holds in it
Yer would need to follow a pattern for the granny square cardigan but it should also be possible 😊
D you have any written instructions?
Lorinda McKinster I’m working on the written as I work it up and will add the link to the description once it’s up
I’m an experienced crocheter but found this tutorial far to difficult
Do you know what? When you're doing a tutorial and you start coughing - stop the camera! Your coughing was so loud down my headphones it hurt my ears!
Yes ,this is not easy to follow. The coughing is distracting.I keep trying to follow.I love the pattern I'm not sure If I can carry on.
I tried to follow your video, but your coughing was too distracting for me.
Lucy Stamp sorry I was ill
I'm sorry too. really like your solid granny idea!
I've often found myself coughing in the middle of one of my UA-cam videos, so I can totally empathize with your carrying on despite the illness. When it happens mid-recording, hot tea, cough drops and apologies are about all we can do. (And then a bit of a rest before the next recording session, of course.)

Your terminology is very confusing between doubles and trebles , your calling doubles trebles and trebles trebles very confusing!! Lucky I can watch and see what your doing!!
There are 2 terminologies with crochet. U.K. and U.S. I am using U.K. terminology.
Your crochet hook was very distracting. Flashing back and forward. I had to stop watching
I agree 😢
Distracting using that hook & your video is like watching paint dry....sorry couldnt watch any more....
