For everyone asking why the firmware update prompt won’t show up-
MAKE SURE TO FORMAT CARD IN THE SCOPE. If you format card in your computer it will not prompt.

@@tannermorris8418 format the card in the scope, then put the card back in your computer and move the update to the card. Once the update is on the card move it back to the scope and it should recognize the update. Once the scope has completed the update, re format the card in the scope and you should be good to go!

Yeah, why give you important information that will take away, hours of frustration?? Not sure if some guessing is part of the fun or just a sadistic way to enjoy, knowing that someone is going to waste hours troubleshooting, something for no reason.

Digging down The rabbit hole all the way, i was finally able to really factory reset and install the latest firmware, wich i really didnt have, even what it said in the device.
If you have the same problem that the prombt doesnt show up for the firmware update do this.
I have the 4kpro 5-20.
In the website where are the downloads go all the way down and click the "ATN factory restore firmware setup" download the program for your pc and do it how it says on the video. After that i was finally able to update firmware and hopefully i got rid of all the bugs.
This may help. I don't have a computer so I have to always update from my phone using a USB/c port card reader adapter. Format the card in the scope. Turn the scope off and remove the SD card and insert it into a card reader. Download the correct firmware for your scope onto your phone. I pull up my file manager on the phone and locate the file. copy the file onto the microSD card. Note, if your phone does not let you move or copy it directly to the SD card which occurred in my case, I just created a new file folder called ATN update on my phone's internal storage. From there I was able to move/copy The firmware update file to the SD card. Here's the important part!! When you formatted the card in the scope there should be two folders on the SD card from formatting. One will be ATN the second will be LOST. DIR , when moving the file from where it's stored on your phone to the SD card Make sure it doesn't move into either of those two folders. It should just show up when looking at it as three folders. When I was moving the file to the micro SD card it's kept moving The update info into The ATN folder, so when I was putting the card back in the scope and turning the power on it would not recognize it and prompt for update. Once I figured out that the update should not be in either of the two folders, powering on the scope recognized the file and prompted for an update. If you're doing it from a computer I would imagine it's the same situation. Once it updates don't forget format the SD card again as well as going to settings and do a factory reset. If you're using the abl (rangefinder) pair it. Make sure to go into scope menu and turn on advanced shortcuts so the range button on the scope works.
Thanks for the videos they have been very helpful but now I have run in to another problem after i did the firmware update and removed the bin file from the SD card and did a restore to factory settings to my XSight 4K Pro scope now i cann't get this ERR display off🥲, I tried spining the scope in a figure 8 to see if i could get a CAL display but nothing any advice thank you🙂

Has the freezing problems been sorted out ? I really want to buy the 4k but so many negative reviews about the device freezing up all the time
We did have a freezing issue a while back but this was resolved in a firmware update.

I recently bought the X Sight LTV 5-15. Love it. I have already hunted with it, successfully. Now I want to record, but when I put the sd card in I get a message that the card is not mounted. What does that mean?
How can you tell if the firmware has updated? Please don’t say “by clicking yes on update firmware”. I’m past all that and very confused. Is there any other way I can check?
After/during firmware update do you lose your previous profiles for different the rifles/ammo you zeroed it with?

I did exactly as this video suggests, but now the scope has problems: will not shut off, has a ?-52x rather than the 5-20x, can't get the compass to work at all, doesn't work when switching from 50 yds to 100 yds...
I'm going to try this again and see if it fixes this mess...

Hi. I've followed your instructions on how to update my scope. I have the 5-20 4k model. The firmware update worked as it should but I dont have the range finder option on it anymore. Do you know why it has been removed? And what I can do to get it back? Thankyou
We have not done any changes on the rangfinder in any resent updates. THe only thing I can think of right now is you may not have chosen the correct Lens Type in the scope wettings anfter doing the update.

After updating and resetting the factory settings, do I need to be re-zero my scope and put the ballistic coefficient details again?

Finally got me one of these scopes and figured I update the firmware since I've had it for a year and when I select update firmware, within 5 seconds it says firmaware update failed, any reason why it would do that?

I bought X-sight 5-204K few days ago. On the ATN web site is no option to update 4K version. Just x-sight ltv, X-sight II and x-sight. Which one do I have to use?

i have 2 scoops just like this and they both fail so much issues with it i try to update just like the video and it update the file one but wen i go to the web update it fails and one of my scopes turns on but then blank screen cant do shit with it then the other one none of the buttons work i have done so much to make it work and it just sucks and both of these scopes has less then one hour on them . its so hard to get a hold of them because of from hawaii and the time zones are why off so i dont know what to do now
I just bought the new ATN xsight 4k 3-14, I went online and registered & downloaded the firmware & copied it to my Micro sd card per your tutorial, however when I put it in the scope n power it on it does not prompt for firmware update...I reformatted the card, downloaded it n installed it again same results, does my scope already have latest firmware or do I have a problem, I did not do a factory reset as I was scared I'd mess the scope up, what do I need to do ?
Make sure that the firmware file is not in the ATN folder, it has to be in the root folder of the SD card. You can also update the scope via USB cable. Here is a video tutorial on how to do that. ua-cam.com/video/dE7G-NTyXM4/v-deo.html

ATN could you please list the update number in the heading of clip as well as somewhere list previous updates and date they were released.
The update process is the same for any firmware update release. The update number makes no difference. To see the latest firmware version you should check on our website: www.atncorp.com/firmware. You can also sign up to receive notifications about the latest firmware for your device.
I just downloaded newest firmware for my x-sight 4K pro then reset scope to factory settings. Atncorp firmware instructions says to re-calibrate compass..how do you do that. I can’t find compass settings anywhere. Thanks

Hello we just bought one and it wont turn on after the first initial power up and when we finally get it on, it shuts off after 1 minute. Yes it is fully charged.
Hello, I have an X-Sight 4k Pro 5-20x scope, it has the problem that it froze shortly after turning on. I have updated the firmware with the latest version of the ATN page, I also did the ATN factory restore firmware procedure and it did not work either, the scope continues to freeze within a few minutes of turning it on. I would like to know if there is anything else I can try to do before sending it to technical service. Thank you very much.-

@@AtncorpOptics Iver been trying this procedure in every way imaginable fort the past 5 hours on my brand new 4k 5-20 and at the 'Web' Update part it always fails. Ive also tried updating the firmware using the SD card multiple times, to no avail. What I want to know is, and I KNOW you know the numbers here.. What percentage of the units you sell are duds? When trying to get to the Setup Menu i see a ERR in Red on top the screen and only thing i can get to is setting up the Range Finder setting or shutting it off by holding the Power Button down. Could it be the 128gb SanDisk C10 card i have in the Unit ?? - correct if i am doing something wrong. The Unit is New and Fully Charged also. UPDATE -- i got to the Main Menu finally and did the FW update to the new one -- and reset the Unit -- and i used the 128gb SanDisk micro card -- removed the card and deleted the .bin file before reinstalling and powering back up, but it still has that ERR message on top the screen. I have a 32gb card on order.
Wow, after reading all these comments, I think I will NOT update my 4k Pro. It's working now, I don't want it freezing up and losing ability to use ABL. Can't believe it's still so buggy.
You got that right. It seems to me that they could do all this config at the factory. Then all you would have to set up is the compass and one shot zero
When I download the software on my SD card and put it in the scope- I’ll turn on the scope and not prompted by the scope for the update. Does that mean I did something incorrectly downloading the update onto my SD card?
It could mean that your scope is already updated to that firmware version. If not then try to format the SD card in the scope before you copy the firmware onto the SD card.
@@AtncorpOptics my 4K BH does the same. Nothing happens with SD card, I formatted multiple times and used different sd cards too. I tried using the application and when I press power and down button the scope just turns on. Update button never turns blue. It’s currently on firmware 451.

You need to restart your computer after installing the ATN Firmware software. Then the button will turn blue.

So, if I have a few rifle profile setups saved, and I update the firmware, I am assuming I will lose these with the factory reset. Is there a way to save these so I can reload them after the firmware update? If so, is there a video showing how to do this? Thanks.
I believe if you format the sd card when you first set it up there would be no need to. Re format again for updates.
Up dating firmware is horrific. Can device be used as a scope with out worrying about firmwhere?

I have just purchased 2 x ATN X Sight 4K Pro 5-20 and Neither will accept firmware updates. Nothing happens when I insert SD card and turn on (I have followed this tutorial to the letter) I’m Gutted. Hope this can be resolved?
Sir di you check and see what the current firmware was on the scope? It could already be updated to the latest version. That is why you are not getting a prompt to update.
@@AtncorpOptics Thanks for the reply, but that is unfortunately not the case. They are both older firmware versions. They shoot fine and are by FAR the clearest NV units I’ve owned. But still a bit frustrating… If they weren’t so damn good I’d complain harder 🤣
After I update the latest firmware and power up the scope I notice the compass on the scope has an ERR, the scope still hold zero but I don't know why ?
You need to do a factory restore firmware after doing the update. The ERR message is for the compass. You need to do a compass calibration to fix that.

I have a question all my zero and everything on the scope is working as it suppose to after I do the factory restore firmware and I re-calibrate the compass it still show the ERR. I don't mind the ERR show on my compass, so the question is that I'm getting ready to get the ABL unit for my 4K pro. will the compass ERR affect the zero or the performance of the ABL pair to the scope?, if not then I'm fine with that and will order the ABL unit.
@@ozarkmountainoutdoors3255 The compass ERR will not affect the zero or the ABL performance. If you did the firmware factory restore then your zero should have been erased. This means you either need to re-enter your previous X&Y or re-zero the scope.

You have the latest version that correlates to the inside parts of your scope. You do not need to update your scope.

Scope is everything I expected considering it's my 3rd one and all are perfect

You just need to recalibrate the compass. Spin the scope in one hand to reset. Once you see CAL instead of ERR then use these instructions for calibration manual.atncorp.com/x-sight-4k/#idcompass-calibration

Yesterday I visit the ATN Corp website to see if here was an updated firmware available for my ATN ThOR 4 - I did see that there was a new firmware available for my scope (3.3.11.480) I download it the bin file and copied it on my microSD card. After this I followed the update instruction. After all these steps I now have the "ERR" displayed in the scope. I then tried the ATN Factory restore firmware for the OBSIDIAN 4 DEVICE SERIES I was hoping that this would help and again I still have the "ERR" displayed. Can you or anyone else help me with this situation? The reason I wanted to upload the latest firmware it was because it would not hookup to my iPhone, it kept telling the password I was using (atnsmarthd) to pair up my scope to my iPhone was incorrect - At this point I can't use the OBSIDIAN 4 APP and with "ERR" don't know if my scope will function correctly.
To get rid of the ERR message spin the scope in figure 8 in one hand, the ERR message should change to CAL. Then you need to spin the scope on its three-axis to calibrate the compass.
Why not just updated the scope before you send it out. You lazy fucks.

Hello. It could be two things. First - Your scope could be up to date to the latest firmware version. Two - You need to format the SC card in the scope before copying the firmware onto the card.
Does it reset the reticle zero?
After the firmware is updated you need to do a Restore Factory Settings. This will reset your zero. YOu can write down your X&Y and export your profile information before you update the scope. Then import the profiles back and set your X&Y back to where it was.
Is it necessary to insert new firmware into a brand new 4K pro?
Only if the firmware version in the scope is older than the one we have on our website. Most of the time the scope comes with the latest version.
After updating my firmware do I need to do anything with the abl 1000 as it does not seem to be working after updating??? Also what has happened to all the saved profiles of my rifles they seem to have disappeared as well???? 🤔🤔
Is it the same process for an Apple Mac Laptop?
Pretty much the same. Just need to download the update to mac computer then transfer the file on to a micro SD card. But make sure you format the SD card in the scope before you copy firmware to the SD card.
when i try to format the sd card when i click on format card i get a sign that says no card i have done this a number of times with the same thing every time
Try formatting the SD card on your computer. Make sure to format it in FAT32.
Can the Firmware be updated with Mac or only PC?
YOu can update it with a mac but do not format your SD card in the mac. Use the scope to format the SD card before you copy the firmware on it.
@@AtncorpOptics you can't update with any iso device, i've never been able to update mine because all i have is iOS. very upset about this
@@IFarmWeFarm YOu can still update with iOS Mac for example. Just download the update file from our website and copy to SD card. Make sure you format the SD card in the scope first and then it will work.

I can't update, my computer downloads a windows media file, and I don't know how to change it!

This information is obsolete. The X-Sight firmware isn't available in that menu and the download from another web page isn't a .bin file.
We will have new firmware in that menu as soon as we release it.

Well, total failure. Scope is an ATN Thor 4, new scope, but running firmware version 3.3.08.430.
Changed memory card to a high quality Transcend, which I specifically went out and purchased, just so I had the identical card shown.. to remove that out of the equation.
Let the scope format the card.. fine, done.. Downloaded new firmware version 4.3.3.09.455, fresh off of ATN's website.
Copied file from downloads folder, to root of card.
turned scope off.. inserted card.
Booted scope, came up with Update Firmware? Yes/No prompt.. Selected Yes,
Screen goes blank for a bit, then comes up with the Updating firmware prompt, the round circle progress bar, at which point it shows progress, slowly, very little movement. Got to 57%, then says "update failure", only to continue saying it's updating firmware.. at which point it just freezes the scope display and never does anything else.
I have to hard reboot the scope, pressing and holding the power button until it finally shuts off. Power back up, no change.
This sucks. I don't think it's anything I've done wrong at this point, as I write firmware code all the time. Is there a different kernel version? Bootstrap or loader that's corrupt? The scope was literally purchased just a few months ago, so not sure what's going on. Is there a known bug or something going on, where this doesn't work?
I'm trying to update, because the problem I have with my scope, is the fact that WiFi doesn't work on it, at all.
This scope has been cool to a point, but I'm getting irritated, as now without wifi and live stream ability on WiFi, I'm stuck with no ability to stream video from the scope.
Entire reason I spent $4200, was for the ability to not only have thermal, but also the interface and ability to live stream, record and have a WiFi interface. ugh.. oh well, it's Memorial day weekend and you guys are closed. Sadly, I own 2 companies and my time off is so limited that I rarely, like 2 x a year, have enough time to even leave..
I guess there's always next year. I'll have it figured out by then, or I'll buy a new scope I guess.

The worst scope I have ever used. Almost 2 years,and no firmware update solve the black screen issue,or freezing. Very sesnitive to cold weather. If you go hunting on winter with this scope,stay home. Zoom not working,if you have the scope on for more then about 10 minutes it freeze. You have to restart and that takes about 30-40 seconds. Enough for any animal to be aware that someone is watching.
In the summer time everything works fine,but I would better use a flashlight than have a failed hunting session. Very dissapointed.
Bought one today, turned it on had a look, hooked up the charger, turned it off waited 6 hours now it won't turn on.
Retuning it tommrow for a refund.
All l wanted was a night vision scope, l don't wand to go and do a computer course to get it up and running.
I'm going back to a good spotlight and scope.

Very not helpful at all. The process for updating the 4k pro is much harder now. I attempted to update it Nd now my unit won't even turn on. For $700 dollars you can buy a much more reliable day scope.
