A compassionate Li Xiangyi once gave a sickly, crippled child hope by giving him a wooden sword and telling him he would be his shifu if he could wield that wooden sword (whereas the true father gave his child a huge adult sword and abandoned him right away when his child could not hold it). 10 years later, a grown Fang Duobing stumbles across his beloved, idolized shifu unknowingly and protects, cherishes and loves him in return. It’s karma - kindness is repaid back.
