    What a gem. The most nuanced version I have heard. Balance, sensitivity, perfection. Congratulations and my thanks to the interpreter, the conductor, the ensemble, camera and acoustic excellence. . From Winnetka, Illinois USA

    This playing is very fine nuanced, and is in itself a great tribute to Mozart. The small details are never neglected, and so this will be one of my favourites.

      My reference in this is Menahem Pressler with Paavo Järvi as conductor. I believe A. A. Blettenberg with this orchestra reaches the same level.

    Such a sublime ‘conversation’ the pianist shared with the orchestra. As continuo, support, commentary or accentuation, this interpretation was delightful, revelatory and enriching to my mind and soul . Bravo

    Listening to classical music is like embarking on a journey through different eras and styles. Whether it's the Baroque elegance of Bach or the Romantic expressiveness of Chopin, there's a piece for every mood and occasion.

    This blew me away. Mozart's piano concertos 19-24 are very familiar to me. This is on another level. It shows Mozart's talent for composition maturing like a great wine. And, as many have commented, the performance is exceptionally nuanced.

    On the first hearing, the free addition of the piano part made me surprised very much. As a matter of fact, his piano playing is so fantastic that I really enjoyed through the performance of both piano and orchestra. Cadenza of the last movement is another surprise touching me a lot. This is actually one of the best recordings of this masterpiece ever to my impression. Thanks a lot for sharing this great video.

    A great new orchestra and younger conductor. They have an air of easy going relaxed and confidant performance. The whole video is well done. I never get tired of this creative masterpiece of composition out of Mozart. Well done - and you exude your own joy of the rendering you give.

      It's not in the score. Mozart played there as well for sure, but the audience couldn't have heard it because the fortepiano had a much more delicate sound than the modern piano.

    Bravo ad maximum... I've heard this sublime, restrained concerto dozens of times in life, but only once live, decades ago (pianist was Badura-Skoda, in New York). This upload was for me the best-played version of all, and my introduction to this pianist Blettenberg (I'm ashamed to admit). Although I could have lived without the pianist's à-la-Baroque involvement in some of the tutti passages, he managed that very discreetly. His quasi-jazz cadenzas in the third movement thrilled me; were they his own? Mozart's own handling of the development portion of the first movement was the greatest thrill of all, even if it had been played badly!

      @staffanolofsson8201 Рік тому

      Yes, also I am a little astonished by some of his cadenzas, who sometimes were new to me. But played very fine! And I have never listened to Aris Alexander Blettenberg before. But I am not ashamed to admit he is new to me.

    A great rendition of my favourite piano concerto by Mozart! The performers successfully convey the serenity and the subtle nuances of the piece. I'm inclined to think that it is romantic indulgence to describe the piece as a swansong, as I don't think Mozart would have known that this would prove to be his last piano concerto. However, there is a certain air of mysteriousness, especially in the first movement, not least because of the introductory first bar.
    I must say, your channel has many excellent videos of live performances. A shame I hadn't been aware of Südtirol in concert earlier. A while ago on a trip, I passed through South Tyrol on my way to Venice from Innsbruck. I remember being quite struck with the scenery. I really ought to make a note of travelling to the region again and paying a visit to the concert hall (which seems to be in Meran, judging by the video description).

    Those few measures after 25:10 - Mozart was dipping his toe into Romanticism - those are not typical Mozartean harmonic progressions.

    Look at the fingers of the pianist. So smooth and fluent they flow over the keys! Beautiful. And such a magnificent piece of music! Oh... Danke schön. ((But I wonder why orchestras so often wear only black. Isn't it quite dark and mellow? Boring?))

    Peculiar the pianist is filling in with cords during the orchestral part. Never heard this before by other pianists. Know Mozart left parts open for improvisation, which he did himself too, also in the cadenza's.

    Mr Blettenberg plays beautifully and musically, however I find his primitive intrusion in the beautiful orchestral introduction disturbing and irritating. It sounds as if he is bored and just can’t wait to get his hands on the keyboard! It is easy to imagine Mozart himself sitting and improvising as he often did if he felt there was room and he could add something interesting and you can be sure it would be a treat. But here his introduction is so beautiful preparing the way for a magical entrance by the solo piano and great pianists get inspiration for their own timely entrance. Blettenberg ruins it. Likewise his little virtuosic runs in a mini cadenza in the last movement are totally superfluous! Thank goodness he doesn’t try to replace Mozart’s own cadenza. I see Blettenberg is a composer and I hope he will write a piano concerto but please, don’t mess with Mozart!

      @markmulfinger 11 місяців тому +1

      The first time I heard this, I was engaged in doing my art, and not watching my phone I was not immediately aware of the soloist’s“ primitive” incursions during the orchestral introduction. I think your criticisms of Mr. Battenburg come off, sounding slightly stuffy and “ivory toweresque” It wasn’t unusual for composers to conduct from the piano, and I would imagine that some of them showed empathy with the orchestra during the introduction as well. I can’t imagine Mozart being terribly upset by Mr. Battenberg’s sensitive and maybe atouch quaint, premature accompaniment.

    • @kantorlive
      @kantorlive 10 місяців тому

      He plays the harmonies in the introduction because it was supposed to be like that. Everybody did it. Mozart usually wrote con great attention also the numbers for the figured bass part, it was completely normal that the soloist would participate in all the orchestral sections of the composition, leading them from the piano. Beethoven continued with this tradition, even in the 5th concerto he fixed the harmonies for the piano accompaniment (not only) of the introduction, you can find it in the score of the Bärenreiter edition.
