- In Cuba a wide variety of buses can be found. Home build Giron midibuses and buses based on truck chassis. Imported secondhand buses, mostly from Western Europe and new imported Chinees Yutong buses.

At age 15, I learned to drive in a Girón VI with a Perkins engine, manual transmission, (of course), worked on all the Girón buses, from replacing their entire wiring harness to riveting aluminum panels on their exterior, used to rebuild the Praga 2M70 transmissions in the Ikarus, worked on Hino, RC, RV (the “Colmillo Blanco” el monstruo de las 8 vías ). Will never forget the smell of diesel burned by those beasts.
Charming.....Cuba is a paradise for antique vehicles.....

From Barcelona, Spain. In fact they didn't change the indicator line, which is one of Barcelona or the logo of the public company transport. TMB has donated for years buses to Cuba, Gambia and other places. Mostly of them old Mercedes O405 and O405G and different models of Pegaso.
Ikarus!
Lindo demais, este país! Viva Cuba!
How did they acquire the American school buses? And do the "camellos" still exist?
I guess secondhand from Canada, Mexico...I saw one camello last year
School buses were from Canada and no, there are not many camel buses anymore. Even the European buses are less and less.
School buses Canadian instead of say "stop" on the red sign says "Arret which is stop on French. And i went to cuba last month and I didn't see any camellos.
The government make a deal with the Chinese to have new articulated buses called YUTONG
Camellos are now in rural areas
