Hey, maybe it's a bit of a crazy idea, but what about connecting the air pump to the same diffuser as the CO2, both with no return valves. This would reduce the number of pipes in the system. Not sure if it works, up to you to try :)
I’m only 3 minutes in so far but had to pause to give you a shout-out for being the only person I’ve seen on UA-cam who pronounces “wendtii” correctly! Love your scapes and videos!
If you plant only the topmost part of the emersed stem plants, you can avoid a lot of decaying emersed leaves...
Yea, and then you can get way more plants out of each individual pot
You’re a goddamn artist man. Such attention to detail and perspective. Also in pt 1. Could use more vids like this focusing on the artistic side of aquascaping. Thnx
Great follow up on the previous video. Can you please update us on this regularly on how you manage the tank from planting till its mature phase...it really helps most of us newbies
Sure thing!
That would be wonderful!
My 55 gallon tank has a stupid amount of plants. I used 5 good size rocks (all same kind of stone ) and pieces of driftwood. I stocked it with 3 turbo snails , 10 dwarf corydoras , 3 bright red cherry shrimp , and I bought 2f and 1m of 7 color morphs of guppies as small fry. Now 3yrs later the guppies have made my tank look like a rainbow exploded.
Striped Kuhli loaches for bottom dwellers!!!
massive shoal of celestial pearl danios!
Great video, I think either lots of CPD's with pygmy corydoras would look really nice, or even a set up with dwarf gouramis would look great
I don’t think small fish would look good in there. I would put some siamese algae eaters and Congo tetras in there
cherry barbs and lampeye
I would love to see some white skirt tetras!
That set up is looking so classy . I was looking forward to seeing this and I’m not disappointed. I would like to see angel fish in there
I was also going to say angel fish!
Me too
It'd be stunning with discus in it... 😅 happy fish keeping!
That inspirational tank is just next level!
Mooie aquarium trouwens. Groetjes van Dirk
I love these videos man. Your style is so relaxing.
I don't have the skill, patience (
Tiger barb definitely 😁
This one looks stunning.
This looks great already! I can’t wait to see it as it grows in and you add the fish! I vote for Angel Fish 🐠
Nice! Can't wait to see it fill in! For fish stocking, how about a few rams, some otos and corys, and then a huge school of Rummynose tetras?
The scape is super cool. manacapuru Angels fish will look nice 👍🏼
Rummynose Tetra would be great ❤
Neon tetras😊
A surface skimmer would do a better job with aeration especially at night.
Beautiful scape
I don't know what kind of fish to suggest, but I do love to see a lot of small fish in a bigger aquarium. You can put a decent sized school of small fish in there. Also, that air pump is really nice! All the ones I have are noisy. I can't wait to see your aquarium after the plants grow in. It's going to be beautiful.
I think small fish look good in iwagumi scapes
Although the tank is big you need a siamese fighter or 2 in there
Very very very nice
Looks awesome, hint never use actual fire to bend acrylic always use a heat gun you get easier better results
My guy Mark 👊🤝
Very very nice high end setup👌👌👌
Im doing terrible eating home made biscotti having hot cup of tea watching fish youtube😅
Horrible!
I've been running air at night for a few months on a low tech setup and it makes a huge difference on plant growth! Would love to see a variety of Rams added to this tank.
I'd love a quick video on how you do your water changes and the equipment you use in a bit more detail. I need a better way of doing it.
Can't wait to see the progress, please keep us posted on liquid fertilising
Turned out really nice. Curuous how you will deal with the new tank situations. Angel fish would be beautifull or something from the amazon like these spitting fish. Anyway great tips for a newby like me and the air diffuser also a good tip.
New scape looks great! I also use an air pump running at night time when the lights are off I’ve noticed improvements since doing so for the past 6 months
I never liked the idea of raising the lily pipe for night time airation since it produces a lot of noise. The little air pump together with a neo air diffusor suits my needs much better. Pls let us know if the air bubbles can break surface films (thus rendering skimmers unnecessary for nano tanks).
Wasn't expecting this to be your next project, but that's what makes your channel so interesting
Adding air pump is quite interesting idea... Can't wait to see the result... Is it any different
Cool setup
Beautiful!
Somehow I missed the scaping video, tank is going to look incredible in a few months, looking forward to the updates.
Looking good! Fish is a very personal preference, but in a tank like this maybe a more "coin-shaped" fish like Hyphessobrycon socolofi/rubrostigma (or something similar)?
I filled my tank up today with a very minimalist setup (one stone and one piece of wood). I'm going to let it cycle in the dark for the coming 2 weeks, and after a short holiday I will adding plants.
Still undecided about what fish to add after that, but probably either a type of Rasbora or Hyph. amandae. We'll see.
You are great bro👏
Looking good!!
Maybe you can add some dwarf cichlid and a school of tetra
Beautiful tank! I really enjoy watching your process and how well you explain it - very helpful for those of us who are trying to learn. For the fish, I would go with a school of dwarf neon rainbows (Melanotaenia praecox) or diamond tetras (Moenkhausia pittieri).
Forktail yellow rainbows would look great in your tank!
Great video. Enjoy your new tank
I stumbled across this channel randomly, and my god I was blown away by the quality of the aquariums and the ease of maintenance.
So much so I couldn't resist starting a small planted project.
I've already bought almost everything with the exception of lighting, that's my biggest problem of not knowing what to buy. Can you give me some advice?
The aquarium is going to be a 35x35x35 cube, I want to have carpet of Montecarlo or Parvula. I want to have plants in a red tone, in your experience what is the best light for this small project?
Thanks
a school of threadfin rainbows would be nice. apistograma pair, gold laser Cory's. and a few pencil fish. and gobies for algea eaters. Annie's gobies to be precise lol. but beautiful tank man. it's gonna look so good when it grows in. it's already amazing 👏
Mj I'd like to see you do a series where before you tear down a scape you try to grow as much algae as possible and then show us how you treat it and return the scape it it's prior algae free state.
Maybe remove live stock then over dose ferts leave lights on long no co2 all that stuff as much algae as possible and then begin the battle.
You almost don't need a light screen for that tank background. Looks great already.
Looking forward to seeing what you stock it with.
Awesome!
I thin white cloud minnows could look great in a setup like that.
It would be nice if you would specify the costs for a tank in the description, so people have kinda an idea what they spending upfront.
Beautiful tank! Looked good without the plants but even better with them. I'm interested to see if the added oxygen at night will make a difference
We wanna watch you add fishes soon. Sorority tank
Don't forget to add the details for the air diffuser you used, for the air pump setup
Or can we use a normal CO2 diffuser?
beautiful setup! Would love to see some fish that form strong schools
Maybe some beautiful discus fish, along with a bunch of schooling tetras?
I can't wait to see things grown in!
Nice setup man ❤
I must say you have made a really Beautiful aquascape, it looks absolute phenomenal I absolutley love those cryptocoryne wendtii Compact it is a beautiful plant in the correct spot which absolutely you nailed it, so dis you with the Lagenandra meeboldii red it looks absolutely awesome. And for the fish i would absolutely vote for a nice school of celestial pearl danios because that would mean a beautiful aqua scape with some absolutely beautiful fish complementing it. Can’t wait to see what you go for🤩
I had that co2 diffuser and enjoyed it at first. After about 6 months I realized that co2 was leaking out of micro holes in the location that I heated and bent it. Just keep an eye on it.
Nice setup! I'm waiting to see how the plants evolves. I see lemon tetras in there, not too big, not too small.
Awesome scape reminds me of ur last tank u built as a show case aquarium
I really like the hardscape...you nailed it with this one
Please make a video on how you manage the flow of co2 in the tank
Nice new Aquascape 👍🏻
Loving the scape! I really enjoy your videos so much inspiration. I think rummy nose rasboras would look great in there. Black neon tetras would also look really good with all that green. I would say try dwarf rainbows like Gertrudea.
Rasboras or tetras???🤔
Fishtank looks awesome sir 😊
This looks great already! I think you've created a new favourite of mine (and many others) to replace the big shallow scapes. Well done 😊.
Hey Mj, i love the scape ❤ it would be cool, if you would make a video where you go over the whole setup, aquarium and technik, and tell us how much it would cost, in total 😊 it's my dream setup, my dream aquarium 😍
Inpaichthys Kerri - Blauwe Koningszalm
awesome, put some Ramirezi😊
I really like how you have set this tank up and are prepared to see plants develop. Not over-planted from day 1. I’m really looking forward to seeing how this develops. When you were doing the substrate (video 1) did I see you add root tabs? I would love to see 6 classic angle fish in here with some dither fish (tetras) of some kind. Whatever you go with it will look great.
I have a combination of corydoras Julii, bentosi tetra and Forktail Rainbowfish (Pseudomugil furcatus) and I absolutely love the combination. It is my favourite tank also because the fish are very responsive. Even when my mom comes to visit, she can stand in front of the thank talking to the fishies and it almost seems like they (mostly the Pseudomugil) do tricks to get attention 🤣 Also when feeding they all dart to the top and splash so hard I get droplets all over. Just fun to watch. just have 1 fry julii and 1 Pseufomugil.
Hallo MJ,
I love this detail talk about the planting process. I don't know what fish to suggest, but I think a school of small fishes would be very interesting. The type that swims actively together. Silver colour maybe?
Looks really nice. Love the colours and the red of the spider wood really looks nice . Going to nice when all has matured and grown. 👌
Beautiful scape so vibrant great video
Nice! I’m excited to see how this one develops!
air diffuser vs no air diffuser experiment please
What a great looking tank, and i look forward to seeing more once its grown in. As for fish what about a few honey gourami (Trichogaster chuna)!!
Really beautiful aquascape! I love the hardscape and the triangular form of the scape! Such an inspiration! In our aquarium we have Diamond tetras, an amazing and beautiful fish that dosn't get huge. I'm excited to see this scape develope, best of luck :)
Ik hope to see how the aquarium evolves from here on, to see what stages it goes through as you didnt perform the darkstart method this time. But very well done (Mooie bak !)😁
Congo tetras
I would go for a group of Microdevario kubotai or Pseudomugil gertrudae, some Kryptopterus bicirrhis and a group of Caridina cantonensis "Tiger" (The ones without color). I really like the tank and i dont think that big or bright fish would suit it, thats why i would choose animals, that are rather hard to spot. They wont take away the attention from the layot, but add a nice touch. Oh, and obviously i love your work, cant wait to see how it will look in a month or two.
Can’t wait to watch it grow ❤
Great tank, for fish recommendation mabey some barbs like albino cherry barb, checker barb, odessa barb or tetras, like rosy, black phantom etc
Awesome video 🎉 love the addition of the air pump for night time usage👍🏽
looks amazing !!!!!! can you tell me what system are you using for water changes ?
Looks cool. I think the aeration is too long, it may affect the PH too much. 😉
Question for anyone closely involved with this hobby: What sort of smells would one expect from aquascaped tanks such as these? Obviously, when there is an algae problem, a not-so-good smell would be expected, but when a tank is healthy, new, well-balanced, etc., what would the smell situation be then? Would there be no smell? Or would there still be some smell from a tank, regardless?
It's a beautiful hobby, and I'm interested in getting into it, but my partner is very sensitive to smells, especially in the home.
Interesting question. I'd suggest you go for a smaller tank. A sensitive nose directly above the water surface might pick up something like a faint forest smell.
Avoid establishment of BGA (blue green algae) in any case. BGA can be detected easily, it's the worst smell you can imagine in a tank, particularly when you take something out of an infested tank the entire room will soon be filled.
You should do like 30-40 Galaxy Rasboras and a pair of Apistograma agazzisii and kulii loaches like 6-7 it would be awesome ti just keep a certain species and not mix a bunch up like everyone out there that has like 4-6 different species just because they have a larger tank
