    Thank you for the video!! such a help!, this video has been super great at getting me thru this job! and my car runs great after!
    its been a journey cleaning! did the zip tie method and since didn't have compressed air or a shop vac, and living in a condo it would be a waste to buy those for 1 job then chuck them in the garbage due to lack of storage space. I used the paper towel method to soak up all the crap in the cylinders after cleaning and hope that the little bits left will just get burned up once they fall into the cylinders.
    I realized a few things doing this process that might be obvious to mechanics but wasn't to me.
    1. I didn't need to take off my serpentine belt to rotate my engine
    2. Don't install new spark plugs till you finish the cleaning process, you can shine a bright flashlight into the spark plug holes to see which valves are open, and easier to rotate the engine with the air able to escape the cylinders.

    At 18:40 why do you need to close using the torque bar? Also, I see you stuffed paper towel in all the cylinders except one. Is that because you don't want any debris in there after you have cleaned, or some other reasons. Last question, when the wires broke off the wire brush, I didn't understand how you cleaned them out. If you use a compressor, won't they just fly everywhere?

    • @uszokrepper1
      @uszokrepper1  3 роки тому +1

      The torque bar was the longest what i had in the garage, it was easier, but you can use also a shorter one or just a breaker bar.
      Yes this was the reason :)
      I made a homemade extension for the compressor like i said in the video, with the long extension i was able to reach all the way down and shout them out from there...and yes they flew than away :)

    What is that cylindrical air filter that I can see at the bottom at 0:51 ? It looks like you put it in place of where the air intake tube usually goes...

    • @uszokrepper1
      @uszokrepper1  3 роки тому

      Yes :) this piece name is "pcv filter/breather"
      In direct injection engine's the pressure what is building inside your combustion chamber will go away through the pcv system and it is totally okay, but through that hose the "not burned air/oil/gas mixture" will go back into the intake manifold and this dirty air mixture could be also bad for the engine on the long run. So i removed that hose just you mentioned and add a little pcv filter just to not make everything dirty.
      Result with the oil catch can all together much much more clear air what my engine breathes. I hope you can understand what i just wrote :)

If you are imagine the "rocker arms" from the engine you can see that the closed position isn't just a millimeter position but a little bit longer. So just turn the engine, pay attention, your eyes will become "experts" to tell oke there it is, turn the engine more until it opens again so you are familiar with the circle and go look for another valve or just wait again to be closed again until you turn the engine more and more :)

    I have a 2006 IS250 & mine is doing the same. I dont drive it often & take the battery out of another car to run the IS. Once its warm it keeps idling high - 1500=1700 rpm.
    Are you aware of this issue ? Thanks Mike

    • @uszokrepper1
      @uszokrepper1  3 роки тому +5

      That is actually nothing to worry about :)
      Because you keep getting out the battery every time that's why the ecu resetting itself. That's why the rpm is that high.
      If you would leave the battery inside, after the 5th ride the idle rpm would be right again around 600-700rpm :) because the ecu learns itself and your driving habits :)

    Hi Adam i havent had to do this yet (only 52,000kms, 06 model) but am aware that this is an issue with direct injection motor. Yours is the first clip ive seen on this

    After you crank the engine by hand to open the valves, do you have to do anything to the metal intake manifold with the flaps to line up with the open valves? Or do you just put it back on with gaskets and there is nothing else to adjust?
