Hey Aaron, just watching this video as I get the time mate. Great idea with the perspex to protect the concrete floor of the garage from runaway epoxy. But, as someone who has done this, I can say that Ross L made a video with a solution - hit the excess epoxy with a heatgun and use a sharpened paint scraper to shave it off. After watching the video I went over to a mate's place where the accident happened, dialled up the heat and in much shorter time than I would have thought possible, scrapped it all off. Of course it's better to prevent than to fix, but it's not the end of the world.

G’day Col, thanks for tuning in again mate. I’ve seen that truck with the heat gun too, I’ve got it stored away in the grey bank in case I need it! Hope you’re staying dry! Raining again here…

@@Aaron.deRuiter 200mm in less than 3 days. Not like what we got in Lennox during the floods, but the soil here is actually soil and it holds water. At home it rains and the water seeps through to China. Property built on a sand dune. The local rugby team could play on the village oval just hours after huge downpours with zero impact. Mind you, it can get interesting at high tide. I do have a picture of a guy on a SUP paddling down the Main Street some years ago. Only possible at high tide.

    Hey Aaron.
A quick tip I have found to avoid epoxy sticking. Just use plain old baking paper. It is fantastic to avoid sticking.
A quick question. I just bought 3l of bote cote myself. How did you work out the weights, and why do it by weight rather than volume?

Hey Lee, yep I’ve used the baking paper trick too. I’ve found that the Perspex is a little better as it won’t cause wrinkle impressions in the hardened epoxy. 🤙

Cheers mate! Definitely good to be back at it! Once Skimmer is finished this is the last boat building for a while, it’s time to get sailing!

Great to see you back at it! Great looking work so far. I like to wet out my joints with un-thickened epoxy first to keep the thirsty wood from sucking the resin out of the joint. Not sure if it’s necessary since you were using a syrup consistency and not peanut butter, but I thought I’d mention it.
