3 major memories for me 1. Buying a 20" TV and a PS1 and a SCART cable (for the best image quality) just because of GT1 2. Waiting at my local shopping centre for it opening to buy GT2 after I managed to get in by pretending to be staff 3. Taking a days holiday off work to wait for delivery of the GT5 Collector's Edition and taking photo's of the delivery van as it arrived
As a long time GT Fan, I already knew all of them apart from number 15. Nevertheless, you have done a great job making this video. Well done, Playstation Access!
I think you undersold what GT Academy has done for Jann. There are 3 races that are super prestigious, Monco GP in F1, the Indy 500 in IndyCar and the most prestigious of them all, LeMans 24 Hours in multiple classes. Jann drives in LMP1, the fastest of all the categories. There are F1 drivers that dream of being able todo that, matter of fact Jann drove against Webber and Hulkenburge. The Nissan with its radical design elements never stood a chance of winning, but he was there, a PlayStation gamer, racing in LMP1 at the most prestigious race of them all
L P LeMans 24 hours over Monaco GP over Indy 500. That is the order, some would argue the Indy 500 is more prestigious than Monaco because of it being counted towards the F1 WDC in the 50s also
Yea, people like to mock GT Academy or the thought of Gran Turismo potentially translating to real racing skills, but there are examples of high end professional drivers coming out of the game.
M Wadud, "There are F1 drivers that dream of being able todo that" - they are all able, dude. They just have no time to do that in addition to their F1 career, have better options in other racing series (when they can't race in F1) or have no interest in endurance races.
1. Tsukuba 2. More of the older cars like Supra, R32, RX7, E46, muscle cars and so on!! Not just modern cars! 3. Career mode 4. Proper upgrade and maintenance shop like GT6 5. Make drifting easier on controller, make it less snappy 6. More tracks in general like ebisu?
Same I had GT4 when I was 4 years old (Ilum innatis confirmated :0) and then I lost the PlayStation now at 12 years old found it but without the game so now I will buy Gran Turismo 4 again :')
GT has a very impressive history. Embracing VR is a pretty big deal, though I wish it had been taken further. I am beginning to prefer VR games to traditional games. And this is strange considering that VR games tend to have far less depth. There is something exhilarating by being inside of a world, rather than watching it on a flat, 2D screen.
I really miss Costa di Amalfi. It was my favorite track in GT4 and I wish they'd bring it back. I used it as my test track whenever I bought a new car. Just imagine how good it'd look on these consoles.
I am very proud to say that I have been a fan since, yes, December 1997. I bought the game as an import (Tekken PS1 boot trick!) the month it released when I found it in a video game store in New York City. I first saw the game in a magazine as a preview; I specifically remember a blue Honda Civic (DX?) hatchback in the preview picture and thought, "This game is going to be everything I've ever wanted… A racing game with actual cars that you see every day, not just race cars"… Exceptional work, each and every time. Long live GT!
they need to add the Famous castol supra and old 90s cars in gt it cant be gran Turismo without them legendary cars... 1000bgp that is japans main car they should have this in gt sport will neevr get old supra lol
You could still do that in GT4. But yea, GT3 was probably my favorite of all time due to how much I played it back then and how it felt like it opened the series up a lot compared to 1 and 2.
I’m a big fan of these game. But I was so disappointed to see it didn’t have career mode and the lack of Car and the upgrades for them. This is the first time I wanted to return the game.
Awesome facts here. I remember that scratch ‘n’ sniff disc. The smell was still there when I sold it! Because Polyphony Digital took it to a new level with each console generation, I just sold off the previous ones. Now I have a pang of regret, seeing the rich history of GT here.
The game that made me into a petrolhead and car enthusiast, teaches me the basics of the racing world and car brand, models, oh and introduced me some fine jazz, lounge music
The very first video game I ever played and owned was GT1 on the PS1. Then, seeing how much I played the game, my uncle gave me a PS2 with GT3 and GT Concept, and I also played them a lot. I've got at least 1 GT game per PlayStation generation except for the PS4 because I'm not very interested in GT Sport.
Thankyou GranTurismo for making us gamers turn our dreams into reality. Never would have I imagined the experience you gave us thru the Academy. Thankyou so much!
I learned to drive a real car after countless hours on gt2, gt3 a-spec, and (finally with a proper wheel controller - the driving force ex) gt4. Great drive down memory lane!
This is just crazy... Honestly the backstory of this game is insane and yeah I really enjoyed playing gt4 those were some memories... This video needs more views.
GT2 gives me a nostalgia overload of my one of my favourite childhood games. GT3 was so far ahead of its time. Even the visuals now days are acceptable. GT5 online with a big group of friends was superb. I absolutely love this series and IMO no other racing series is remotely as good. Hopefully I’ll pick up a ps4 and GT sport soon because this video made me miss the series.
And the influences from Motor Toon still could be felt on Gran Turismo - Toon Island II/Night Island from Motor Toon 2 is actually the base for High Speed Ring in Gran Turismo.
I actually liked the gran turismo psp feature of being able to upload your cars from that game to GT 5. One of my favorite series and I am looking forward to the future of the franchise
the only racing game ever to teach players how to actually drive a race car/ drive a car in general, that is why its my favorite racing game. on summer vacation i pretty much lived on Gran Turismo 4 i just hope that if they do make a gran turismo 7 that it will have all the car from the previous games all 1300+ without forcing online connection to play like they did with sport.
This new 'history of games' style video was really cool to see and I'd love more of them - though I assume you probably don't have the time to make this a regular feature :/
It's not said that way in Latin either, lol. Also, these are Latin based languages anyway. What you said didn't really change much but was a nice try, +MrCatsEyes.
I remembered in the PS2 days, I had to skip school for 2 days just to get the F1 cars in the 24H Nurburgring. (PS2 turn ON for 24 hours, b-spec, check console every 15 or 30 minutes for refuel and tyre change, eat, sleep, watch a movie and play basketball in between.) NEVER AGAIN.lol
I've never actually seen a video breaking down GT like this. In the couple of years I've been watching gaming videos, I firmly believe it would be my choice of a racing game. Heck, the amount of people who bought and had faith in GT2 despite lesser graphics the the original proves it's power.
I belive the car list is going to do something similar for GT Sport that it did for GT 1 and 2, start out small(150 cars) and end big (mabye 7 or 800 cars for GT8)
I miss GT-3 it was such a gem, amazing music just the right number of maps and customization. Can't say I'm overly excited for GT Sport however, other games seem to have it beat in graphics/sounds and number of cars. If they drive even close to what GT does then I have no reason to pick it up.
The scratch and sniff feature of GT2 was widely known at release. It smelt a little rubbery and petroly. Although, I suppose youngsters wouldn't know that. Or people who just didn't know at the time. :D
If you know it's true you must've have played it through a couple of times as I have done. Hundreds of hours of enabling Carl Johnson. Good times. None of the repetitive side missions of today's open worlds. Kudos on your good taste
I knew every nook and cranny of the map but missed 1 or 2 things. Only 99.8% completion each time. But the story and side missions were so good that I really liked doing them all over again and I also hoped to find what I'd missed out before.
Gran turismo - gt mode Gran turismo 2 - gt mode Gran turismo 3 - gt mode Gran turismo 4 - gt mode Gran turismo 5 - gt mode Gran turismo 6 - gt mode Gran turismo sport - nothing, but hey, you can take some photos. Oh! Look! HDR (only if your tv support it) Nothing more needs to be said
GT sport isn'tlike the other GT games, it's made to be a competitive e-sport instead of an all-rounder semi-simulator like the others, hence the "Sport" branding.
gianni Vandewiele if you don't own an Xbox or especially a decent PC. GT is a good arcade sim with a nice career mode. Physics, ffb, realism, etc. suck. But what would you expect from a racing game designed for 1 console. It's a decent game but feels like 3 year old tech with nicer graphics
Gran Turismo is the best track racing series ever created. Whether you love or hate GT Sport you gotta admit that GT is still the best track racing series.
The series that made me into a car enthusiast.
Same. And then, during the GT3 era, I discovered Initial D.
It made me go from being a ricer arcade racer to being a Motorsports enthusiast. And yes it took my love of cars to astronomical levels.
Terminal Velocity i am genuinely happy that you discovered Initial D lmao. I watched it like ten times no joke and i could watch it again
Same here! I'm soo thankful to the GT series!
Same
3 major memories for me

awesomeness, ive been "sick" a few times n just locked myself inside n played for 22 hrs myself, lol
Random:
I really liked to change oil in GT4 when I was little.
I liked the sound it made.
Same dude no shame
Strììder Eclipse same
Before i took my drivers test in 2008 my father made me get gold on all licenses available for gt 4. Since then I've been hooked on the game.
that's what i did...
No GT help me learn how to drive lol.
GIVE THAT DAD A BEER
Amonstar 12 he took my 30 pack when i was 17. I gave him plenty even if unintentionally.
all gold on the super license is the real deal
As a long time GT Fan, I already knew all of them apart from number 15. Nevertheless, you have done a great job making this video. Well done, Playstation Access!
ToyGTone as well have them all
Same lol
Remember being excited to buy GT3 as a kid. However, when i got to the shop, i saw that GT4 had just been released. One of the best days ever :P
GFC so you bought them both?
Did you buy GT3, GT4 or both?

MultiTerpen drifting on controller is easy just practice
Gt 4 on the ps2 was my first game ever
same here
Same I had GT4 when I was 4 years old (Ilum innatis confirmated :0) and then I lost the PlayStation now at 12 years old found it but without the game so now I will buy Gran Turismo 4 again :')

bruh same here

Sean Lumly I would not want to play horror games in VR. They're scary enough watching playthroughs
True VR mode is half-assed at the moment.
I'm happy that GT is a big part of my childhood.
I really miss Costa di Amalfi. It was my favorite track in GT4 and I wish they'd bring it back.
I used it as my test track whenever I bought a new car.

Guess who is buying the game after watching this video...
Donald Trump?
A bunch of idiots who will be hugely disappointed
Tim Yang you should wait until its cheaper wont be long until then
MickyMuffMuncher I bought it and I actually am super happy with it, your point?
ѕ т r e e т r a c e r do you want a medal?
Playing online in GT6 from 2014-2016 was one the best periods of my life and me and my friends can't wait to FINALLY get our hands on Sport.
GT never been the same since GT 3.
Modifying your cars and boosting a supra to 1000+ BHP .... MMMMM the memories
they need to add the Famous castol supra and old 90s cars in gt it cant be gran Turismo without them legendary cars... 1000bgp that is japans main car they should have this in gt sport will neevr get old supra lol

@@SGames_1 but we did get the old and older and 2 newer supra's XD
Tail spin eh? Sounds like a failed... *Kansei Dorifto*
N-NANI?!
he probably wasn't even listening to eurobeat.
The inky Squid NANI?
Im 12 but granturismo means so much to me and I’m so excited to gt sport
CykelPotatis u aint even old enough play it boy go back to nfs lol
ace 45 buddy it's a racing game, lmao
ace 45 not old enough? at least he isn’t a screaming kid in a public lobby
For how long you've been playing the game?
DARK-_-SHADOW-99 暗い影 7 years
GT5 had over 1,000 cars... but over 100 of them were just different variations of the Nissan Skyline / GT-R! 🙄
And miata's, RX7's , NSX's...etc. lol.
xynthymr no game these days have so much cars.. good old days! 😌
all those v-specs and evos count right?
xynthymr that reminds me Gt2 and it's 50+ variations of Honda's Del Sol
I’m a big fan of these game. But I was so disappointed to see it didn’t have career mode and the lack of Car and the upgrades for them. This is the first time I wanted to return the game.

Man I just could chill out with that lobby elevator music in the menu forever. Supper relaxing after a tight 🏁 race
3:15 Initial D coming over here also helped. That anime came out around 1998, the same time GT1 hit American markets.
I love the Gran Turismo series, can’t wait to pick up my preordered Deluxe Edition tomorrow morning!
No career mode. No game :( and I was a hardcore GT player. Golden license on all licenses and finished every endurance race on GT1-2.
Mister Ree You're not alone mate. I think a lot of us old GT players are steering clear of this game.
Mhmmmm
i have never completed a Forza game, not even 1/2, but i've gone 95% -100% on every Gran Turismo i've played....
21. Dodge Viper GTS has better grip than Nissan Skyline GT-R R33 in Gran Turismo 1.
Seriously, what the hell.
And in GT2, Viper has none... go figure.
The game that made me into a petrolhead and car enthusiast, teaches me the basics of the racing world and car brand, models, oh and introduced me some fine jazz, lounge music
Jann doesn’t race in WEC LMP1, he races in SuperGT500 and SuperFormula. Great video!

Wow The memories with that thumbnail, I remember when I was like 8 years old and played GT4 and that Nike car looked soooo cool
Thankyou GranTurismo for making us gamers turn our dreams into reality. Never would have I imagined the experience you gave us thru the Academy. Thankyou so much!
Ohh and the satisfaction completing "Endurance races" and getting that Polyphony F1 car in GT 3
played this game since GT1 on Playstation 1, and been a fan ever since
I learned to drive a real car after countless hours on gt2, gt3 a-spec, and (finally with a proper wheel controller - the driving force ex) gt4. Great drive down memory lane!
I love how positive and uplifting this video is! And I was introduced to the GT series by you guys. Great job on all of your videos! Love your work
That video was incredibly good. Well done
This is just crazy... Honestly the backstory of this game is insane and yeah I really enjoyed playing gt4 those were some memories... This video needs more views.

Favorite GT memory, playing with a wheel for the first time, it actually made me a better driver in real life
And the influences from Motor Toon still could be felt on Gran Turismo - Toon Island II/Night Island from Motor Toon 2 is actually the base for High Speed Ring in Gran Turismo.
I actually liked the gran turismo psp feature of being able to upload your cars from that game to GT 5.
One of my favorite series and I am looking forward to the future of the franchise
small correction for your last point, jann mardenborough races currrently in SuperGT and Super Formula.

Not a GT fan but this video was superb, thank you.
parents: gaming will get you nowhere
me : well gran turismo driving is so realistic that irt is used to pick out future professional race drivers
GT4 is still one of my favorite car simulator. I still smile thinking about it.
This new 'history of games' style video was really cool to see and I'd love more of them - though I assume you probably don't have the time to make this a regular feature :/
Gt all together was my first and my childhood game
What's "Gran Churismo?"
you're right but in this case "turismo" is a Spanish/ Italian word, so the British pronounciation doesn't really make sense.
Incognito D it's a Latin word actually
Which is pronounced very much like Spanish or Italian lol. A T will never sound like "ch" in Latin
It's not said that way in Latin either, lol. Also, these are Latin based languages anyway. What you said didn't really change much but was a nice try, +MrCatsEyes.
i remember in gt concept there was a prize you could win that allowed you to port 10,000,000 credits over to gt3
I don't ever remember having the Gran Turismo 4 Nike shirt or the eye toy. But I still had access to the Nike One car
The original game captures here look brilliant...my heart is making me want to believe that all of the old GT games will be released on PS4!
I was always an enthusiast, from the first instalment of gt in 97' it made me a recluse
I remember I used to come home from school early just to play gt3 on my ps 2.......the good old days :')
The real racing test thing is pretty cool.
great video, you guys are the best, keep it up
those GT shoes are cold and fresh as hell!
Really enjoyed this video!
Happy 20th birthday Gran Turismo!
I never knew about the scratch and smell disk 2 , so then I immediately looked for my gt2 disk 2 and was surprised
Tokyo concept was great aswell with the wierd toyota pod car the had a tail that wagged
When I was little i got to play gt1 Japanese version cuz my local game store had it, instantly sold and have owned all since.

This series made me a car enthusiast and I love the new gt sport all except career
Oh hell yeah!
Never been so early to a video!
Keep up the good job, guys!
I belive the car list is going to do something similar for GT Sport that it did for GT 1 and 2, start out small(150 cars) and end big (mabye 7 or 800 cars for GT8)

gran turismo 3 is still my favourite in the series, but sport does feel perfect with the handling...
The scratch and sniff feature of GT2 was widely known at release. It smelt a little rubbery and petroly. Although, I suppose youngsters wouldn't know that. Or people who just didn't know at the time. :D
I loved Gran Turismo, but I could never get past one of the tests in the B driving licence.
COTDAMN I love Gran Turismo.. GT3 being my personal favorite
Gran Turismo for PS5 is going to be F***ING AMAZING!!!!!
This is why no other racing game will ever compete with the Gran Turismo series. Epic.
synchronicityization lol
MickyMuffMuncher what's so funny mate?
Awesome episode
1:51
God damn it, Nakazato!
So much dedication. Forza will never come close.
You said GTA vice city is the most selling game on ps2 which is wrong.Sanandreas is the most selling game in ps2.
GTA SA is one of the best games of all times
PAragon Bytes Yup,true.
If you know it's true you must've have played it through a couple of times as I have done. Hundreds of hours of enabling Carl Johnson. Good times.
None of the repetitive side missions of today's open worlds.
Kudos on your good taste
PAragon Bytes I have played the game only 4 times not much but I get something new everyone I play the game.
I knew every nook and cranny of the map but missed 1 or 2 things. Only 99.8% completion each time. But the story and side missions were so good that I really liked doing them all over again and I also hoped to find what I'd missed out before.
Thx for the info
Mardenborough doesn’t race in LMP1, he races in Super GT & Super Formula lol
I really hope in a gt6 remastered version or something like that 'cause that was the best game in the world
RC Drone racing in VR soon?
Well done video
GT4 is my favorite racing game ever.
Grand Turismo - 1997/8 - 140 Cars - 11 Tracks
Grand Turismo 2- 1999 - 650 cars - 27 Tracks
Grand Turismo 3- 2001 - 181 cars - 34 Tracks
Grand Turismo 4 - 2004/5 - 722 Cars - 51 Tracks
Grand Turismo 5 - 2010 - 1086 Cars - 73 Tracks
Grand Turismo 6 - 2013 - 1226 Cars - 100 Tracks
Grand Turismo Sport- 2017 - 163 Cars- 28 Tracks
Nothing more needs to be said.
No, one thing has to be say: Quality
Its said they will add 500 cars for free but still no career mode or old cars
Gran turismo - gt mode
Gran turismo 2 - gt mode
Gran turismo 3 - gt mode
Gran turismo 4 - gt mode
Gran turismo 5 - gt mode
Gran turismo 6 - gt mode
Gran turismo sport - nothing, but hey, you can take some photos. Oh! Look! HDR (only if your tv support it)
Nothing more needs to be said
give it some time, there's a very high chance GT sport will be the only GT game on PS4
GT sport isn'tlike the other GT games, it's made to be a competitive e-sport instead of an all-rounder semi-simulator like the others, hence the "Sport" branding.
Fun Fact: Gran Turismo 3 was my first PS2 game.
I loved gran turismo 2 it was my favorite one
So you’re not going to talk about how the new Bugatti started off as a GT vision car. Ok.
Kaz is the Legend !! Forever !!
Damn, a real sized rc car
Gran turismo best racing series ever made
gianni Vandewiele if you don't own an Xbox or especially a decent PC. GT is a good arcade sim with a nice career mode. Physics, ffb, realism, etc. suck. But what would you expect from a racing game designed for 1 console. It's a decent game but feels like 3 year old tech with nicer graphics
There was only 3 I didn;t know. Also Jann races in Super GT not WEC.
3:07 Pit stop disc??
Gran Turismo is the best track racing series ever created. Whether you love or hate GT Sport you gotta admit that GT is still the best track racing series.
Incredible how there's only 73 dislike into his amazing vid.....the Forza fanatics I suppose 😂 VIVA LA GRAN TURISMO ❤️
Holy shit I loved this game when I was a kid now gt sport is out I feel like a kid again
Top video!
3:02 wait are you serious?! i never knew about that...
fuck... now i need to find my copy of GT2 in the attic to sniff it... lol
I use to play GT on PS one without a memory card. My heart bled every time I´d turn the power off.
