The races in 6 get boring fast and the lower quality car models look horrible compared to some of the best, the series needs a free play that is full difficulty not arcade mode, with track, car, grid size and other choices, like an offline lobby editor you can race ai on
It all started in GT4 for me. Didn't know a single clue about the game in the campaign mode or what to do, but I always went in Arcade mode and drove my favorite cars lmao.

The amount of change driven by the initial GT game is hard to put into words. Watching this took me back to those PS1 days when I was in school. The original game was such a breakthrough moment for gaming, there was nothing like it on the market. Fantastic video, so nice to re-live the experience of the greatest ever franchise. 👍🏻

Just be sure you play gt4 on the original thick model ps2. The game has tons of programming detail. This game needs plenty of air to breathe. It won't work on the slim ps2. I'm a hardcore PC gamer, but I really loved the Gran Turismo series. I'd even buy the required Playstation IF Polyphony (or whoever) would produce a new Gran Turismo. But it would have to have every track that was available in the series. It would also have to bring back qualifying for position, and lose the HARD tires only crap for every race and let us use what we like. Great game...I wish that I could play it again.
GT2 and onwards got me into sims. I went from "wtf the car doesn't turn, this game is trash" to having a full racing sim setup (with VR) on my bedroom 20 years later haha.
This is great, nicely put together. GT Sport is a fabulous game and it's interesting to note that its presentation is the best I think I've ever seen in a game, with all those museums, photo shoot type things, homages to the beauty of the cars and scenic backgrounds.
Gran Turismo is a flawed franchise, but I will always love it. It's design style, soundtrack, semi-realistic physics, sheer amount of cars and tracks and brilliant features all makes it a great series.
Outstanding presentation! Thank you for this. When trying to explain to novice or new car enthusiast the significance and importance of this series to the automotive world, it's difficult to not get long winded and lose them. This will help. I do wish you could have placed more emphasis on GT Academy. The realization of how many driver's it's produced and the series they've gone to have an impact in is amazing! But mentioned here just seemed like a "one hit wonder". Also, the partnership between Nissan and Polyphony to use a GT game design for the GTR's center console , was another massive point left out. Still a great job! Thank you.
The courses and scenery are very much worthy of mention. So much so that i truly wish there was a "get out and walk around" feature. I fell in love with Ascari on the first lap. Others as well.
I had GT, GT 3 and GT 4. All of which felt like good progress from the previous one, but kept the driving experience that made the games great. After GT 4 though, I moved on to PC, and up until 2015 or so, there wasn't any particularly good simulation racing games for the platform, not until Microsoft brought out the Forza series. A worthy competitor in my opinion. The driving is nice and is what you should expect from a simulation style racing game, the car lineup is broad, and the customization options are even better than what GT is offering. Then you have the Forza Horizon series. Moving away from the race track to open world roads, based on real world locations. Both series are very good and both has their own strengths and weaknesses. Even though I like playing Forza, GT has a special place in my heart for being the series that really got me into racing games in the first place
gran turismo was my first video game and in my opinion one of the best I ever played i grinded that game so much just mainly for the x2010 when i got that silver the feeling inside was honestly amaising
I still remember loading up GT for the first time on the PS. Then the smell of the scratch and sniff disc when first opening GT2. Have owned every copy of the game, don't own them all still but will chase down a copy and store them away.
I'm struggling to get past the mentions of realistic car sounds - everyone, even the most avid fans know that car sounds have never been GT's strong point. GT Sport has them to the quality that we should have seen on the PS3, so a definite improvement but there's still a long way to go. That aside, GT1, GT2 and GT4 were excellent personally. Never got into the other games as much but it's 100% correct to say that GT has been a genre defining franchise.
thought the same. They sounded like vacuum cleaners up until GT sport (still kind of do) but its hard to replicate with out the loud sounds resonating in your own body. Same goes for shooting games.
Lordy! That Nurburgring perfect lap license test! also for completing an endurance event and winning the car you didn't want was brutal! Never got the GT40 race car (sad face)
Still remember when the first Gran Turismo was announced. Bought a gaming magazine that came with a demo of Gran Turismo. Me at the time a very young gearhead couldn't wait for the official release and when it released I bought it and my ps1 broke down 😂😂😂😂. But me being dedicated as I was to play this came finding out why my ps1 died had figured out that when I flipped my ps1 over it played the game. GT is legendary it had is flaws over the years but they are getting better and better! I still remember learning about JDM cars I've never heard about as a kid. After getting my drivers license a had owned a lot of BMW's but later on I bought some high end JDM sportscars like the skyline, wrx sti and a RX7 fd3s and so on. This game really had a influence on my child life experience on cars.
The online experience I have had on GT Sport is unlike any other. I had been on Forza between Forza 2 to Forza 4, but GT Sport's online racing experience consistently sees up to 20 people continuing to stay online for 20, 30 minute long races. I've never had that experience before as many others would quit early on. But this game has you on rails battling out for even 14th place!
My favourite franchise ever, introduced me to my favourite genre and turned an interest in cars into obsession with motorsports. GT4 is my favourite game ever, and in my opinion the best of the series, but GT5 and GT3 are a close disputed 2nd place. That GT5 Prologue intro music in the opening of the video though, I loved that Prologue game as well.
Best experience while the releases, i lived everyone since 1998 until 2013 and thanks to this game i love the cars very much and i got another point of view of cars.
I remember having the red PlayStation demo, and it had Gran Turismo 1 as a Trailer I was so excited for it... Been a Fan every since, I love GRan Turismo, I like forza, I actually learned how too drift on Gran Turismo Prologue, on PS3...
Out of all the realistic racing sims I've played, GT is by far the best! And I've only played the PSP version cuz I'm broke as heck. But still it's very enjoyable but hard but still exciting! 👌
Outstanding job! Been along for the ride since day one, although I only just recently picked up a PS4 and GT sport. While I mostly do iracing these days, I still love GT.

GT2 and onwards got me into sims. I went from "wtf the car doesn't turn, this game is trash" to having a full racing sim setup (with VR) on my bedroom 20 years later haha.
Old School GT (GT1, GT2, GT3, GT4) just the best
I'll never forget GT4's legendary intro featuring Van Halen's Panama. Good times
Thank you Kazunori Yamauchi for this Amazing game.
GT4 is and will always be the best game i've ever played.
GT3:A and endurance races were my childhood still cant think of why I didn't play 4 even tho it looks more like what I remember.
3:10 The first car and first track I remember playing so many years ago!
GT4 in my PS2 . ❤️
gran turismo was my first video game and in my opinion one of the best I ever played i grinded that game so much just mainly for the x2010 when i got that silver the feeling inside was honestly amaising
Great video! I grew up with Gran Turismo and spent so many hours playing those games :)
Endurance races in GT4 was amazing, using your B-Spec driver to sim through the Le Mans 24hr... good times.
They were ahead of the curve in GT1, then stayed pretty much the same until GT6 where they're getting decent vs the competition
@@mase002 I don't know I play with the Sony 5.1virtual surround headset with bass impact rumble in the ear pieces and it sounds amazing.
@@minners71 ever heard a car before? its not even close. And that "bass" is your head set is a silly gimmick. It's just a vibrator for your ear.
Gold Cup for this documentary. Copa the Oro para este documental. Thank You. Gracias.
Lordy!
That Nurburgring perfect lap license test!
also for completing an endurance event and winning the car you didn't want was brutal!
Never got the GT40 race car (sad face)
I’ve only gotten to iB in gt4 so far, which license gives the most op car?
I had to flip my ps1 as well.
Gran Turismo games rated 1-10.
GT1: 9/10
GT2: 8/10
GT3: 10/10
GT4: 7/10
GT5: 7/10
GT6: 8/10
GTS: 9/10
i have the collection of GT series since ps1 and I love the amazing feeling of cars and the details that GT series has.
Outstanding summary of the history.
I wish sim racers had GT style career mode, when you start with 10k and used car.
For GT7
Yes I did enjoy the video very much thank you! Great use of 16 minutes and I was well informed and entertained. Thanks and 👍
This is the best video about gt series! TY guys!
Playing Gt5 XL with a T150 Pro right now.
GT is life. They need more cars tho and more modifications like body kits and engine swaps. Love the VR
Best experience while the releases, i lived everyone since 1998 until 2013 and thanks to this game i love the cars very much and i got another point of view of cars.
No that was a thoroughly enjoyable documentary. Excellent work!
Really enjoyed the video. Very comprehensive, informative and a joy to watch. Great work.
GT2 was the first gran turismo game I’ve ever played for the pax, and loved it from the beginning, unisia jecs gtr helped me win lotta races!.
When it comes to sim racing I came up playing Forza and I recently bought GT sport so this video helps some I don’t know too much about Gran Turismo
"Gran Turismo 5: Loading"
Between GT 1 and Tony Hawks pro skater, I almost failed out of HS 😂😂😂 Good times 😎
Awesome video man! Congrats!
Gran Turismo basis for all modern sim race
Great contribution to the great development in worldwide education and virtual experience.
Great video for great game!!!
22 years of amazing driving!!!
Grand turismo 2 theme song with forever be stuck in my head.
I remember having the red PlayStation demo, and it had Gran Turismo 1 as a Trailer I was so excited for it... Been a Fan every since, I love GRan Turismo, I like forza, I actually learned how too drift on Gran Turismo Prologue, on PS3...
The 1st gt brought me to play station...been playin gt since 98
What a great game, I'm so thankful for all their work!
Out of all the realistic racing sims I've played, GT is by far the best! And I've only played the PSP version cuz I'm broke as heck. But still it's very enjoyable but hard but still exciting! 👌
Thank you Game Domain! Nice video
Im so hyped for GT7 now!!!
Why does this have so little views? it deserves way more.
Outstanding job! Been along for the ride since day one, although I only just recently picked up a PS4 and GT sport. While I mostly do iracing these days, I still love GT.
As a musician it pains me every time he says "Poly-phoney" instead of Polyphony
im from brazil, Love gran turismo series. actually playing Gt Psp in Vita
