    it's very interesting.
    In brief :
the focus is on making a strong and positive first impression at work by leveraging your innate charisma. First impressions happen quickly and have a lasting impact on how you are perceived by others. To create a positive first impression, the author suggests following WC and the four Ps:
1-WC - Demonstrate warmth and back it up with competence. People judge you quickly based on how warm and competent you appear. Start with warmth by maintaining eye contact and offering a genuine smile. This makes you appear more approachable and trustworthy.
2-3SP (Three Second Pause) - Pause for three seconds before responding to someone. This creates a more confident and charming atmosphere and avoids interrupting the other person.
3-Commonality - Find something you have in common with the person you are meeting. This can create an instant connection and make the person more likely to remember you.
4-Proximity - Be around the person more, as familiarity can increase liking. This is called the mere exposure effect.
Remember to be authentic and true to yourself when making a first impression. Aim for a sincere and engaging conversation that is memorable, rather than trying too hard to impress others.

Started my first day at KPMG this week as a project manager, I think I covered the warmth competency part without really knowing it.
I guess it’s a bit in my nature. I am also quiet keen on proximity and working parallel as in finding common ground. I need to start taking pauses , the three second pause is much required 😂 I tend to talk over people when I get excited!
But this video was really helpful
me realise I want to maybe work on things I already have in me.

This is very useful. You should expand a bit on this and contrast this with interactions with individuals more senior to you (ex: managers, vp's, C suite execs, etc). I agree with this by-in-large when it comes to talking to peers at roughly the same level of seniority, but I don't think it is as effective with senior management. If you disagree, then please also dive into why this is the case. Thanks for the content

    • @ShadeZahrai
      @ShadeZahrai  3 роки тому +8

Thank you for the suggestion to delve deeper into the topic. The biggest challenge that my husband and I face (we produce these videos together) is having enough time to deep dive into the wide range topics while running our business and my full time PhD work, and ensuring we keep the broad audience happy!
You raise a good point regarding how would these 'charisma' habits translate to interacting with more senior colleagues. The principles of charisma are generally universal in human interactions but need to be nuanced with the nature of the relationship, expectations, personality traits, culture etc.
Demonstrating high competence most likely takes precedence over rapport when interacting with more senior management. This doesn't mean that 'charisma' should be forgotten.
Fundamentally we are still dealing with humans. Everything needs to be applied in context and with wisdom.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and initiating a discussion!

We can go wrong with first impressions though. What if someone is having a bad day. Is it fair to judge someone on first impressions and how we know if they are going through a bad day. Give people the a chance and dont go on that. You never know who somebody truly is by meeting them the first time and you could really miss out on a lot if you do that. We all need grace and we should give that to everyone.

Watching bloopers is so fun, Shadè. Keep including it in the videos please.😊🙏🏽
Amazing that how you compile all so relevant and so handy information into an impactful pack and deliver it with effortless punch. That’s no less than brilliance.👌
Just keen and curious to know, if you oblige, how many sentences you are able to deliver before taking a pause or loosing track of your text or committing a blooper? 😊 To me such fluency and natural flow of words is extraordinary and gifted and at times seems to be unreal,👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
No offense meant Shadè 🙏🏽 by calling it unreal, rather i am in an awe with such impeccable delivery.
Keep helping people with such sincerity and commitment. 👍

To answer your question, it really depends on wether we are delivering a live webinar presentation or a scripted video. When recording a video we mostly have to repeat if there is a loud noise in the background. Otherwise, we repeat a phrase if I make a mistake or we think that they way it's spoken could be better. We - being my husband and I. We create all of these videos together.

It would be helpful if you could upload some videos for people like me who were raised in emotionally unhealthy environments , narcissistic parents for example. to how to improve our self confidence and from where to start, it is like people like me dont know where to start out journey of self confidence and we get stuck in the viscious cycle of lack of self confidence and being talked down due to that. thanks again. your face full of smile makes these videos as if some one of our best friends give us a friendly advice. thanks :)
