So was the vest worth it? Didn't really give it a yay or nay in the video.
@Liquid: We think it would be excellent if you work outside for a living. If you are just “chilling” in your backyard, it is a bit overkill.

That As Seen On TV portable ceiling fan is super cool. No pun intended. Great usage in a gazebo. The cooling best was pretty hot! Great reviews!!
About that small evaporative cooler, i have had some experience with these. To this day it's my prefered style of cooling. There are some important things of note about it for anyone considering one.
First and most importantly, they work best in dry environments. Places like Arizona, Southern California, and so on. If you live in a humid environment, they won't help any more than a regular fan unless you want to regularly add ice to it.
Second, They work better with a source of fresh air. Pulling air from the outside, to push inside. It can help quite a lot, otherwise, you'll just make things more humid in the long term. Unless you're outside, of course.
Third. These small portable ones can be a real pain to refill multiple times a day. It's not horrible but it can be an annoyance.
This type of cooling doesn't work well for small scale use.
Mr.Miles Chief Engineer thanks for taking the time to share about it!
I live in the North West and it's very humid in the summer and we know these swamp coolers do nothing here
@@stevedixon2630 I learned the hard way lol
Thank you for the additional information!! I live in South Alabama, the sweaty armpit of America. Those fans are always at every dollar store and Wal-Mart, but no one ever seems to buy them. Regular box fans, oscillating fans, and variations thereof outsell them by a huge margin. Now i understand why!

I have one of those portable ceiling fans, the blue 5 blade ones from BangGood are about $15 and work the best, but the spring to make it spin the right way has snapped a few times, you just need to bend the end upwards again but it's still a pain.
The Arctic Air is basically a swamp cooler, which is all the rage again.. after 70 years..
I got mine the ceiling fans for about $4

whats up everybody, welcome back to my kitchen where safety is no1 priority
I bought an attic air to help when helping prep my grandparents house for sale where the air conditioner didn’t work & it was over 100. I had a different model (no soaking of the filter) & yes it was best directly in front of you, but it was a literal life saver! That being said it worked best when paired with those water absorbing dehumidifiers in a bucket. I think the dehumidifier did most of the work
Informative but somehow funny

I must say a evap cooler will work awesome in super dry climates but the intake air must be from outside or it will make your room a swampy humid hell hole

As always funny and informative. Love it.
the Arctic Air is basically a wee swamp cooler. if the humidity is high it won't do anything. they're best in vwry low humidity. I don't know what your general humidity is, but a bathroom probably wouldn't give good results. As always an enjoyable video!

we had two portable mini ceiling fans in our last apartment's living room. they saved us from melting each summer in 40°C/104°F weather when there was absolutely no wind coming in through the tiny ass windows. ceiling fans are magic

I use the Arctic air when sleeping in vehicles and tents. It's quite good for small spaces if it's pointed at you.

The ceiling fan thing looks like it would be cool for inside a tent when camping.
Most people fail at showing off wix but you did amazing at showing it off
I use the arctic air for my dorm room because my housemates feel the need to keep the heater on at 75 degrees even though we are in Los Angeles. I have it no more than three feet from me and pointing at my face. you can also freeze the filter after soaking it for it to be colder. It has made my sleeping much better and made me more comfortable when doing homework or just sitting in my bed. I recommend people to read about evaporative coolers before buying this since it will not work in humid conditions. No it’s not going to turn your room into a freezer but is more useful than just a fan itself.
Love the videos man. Thanks!
Nice testing thanks! Have you tried any cooling shirts (like the Harbor Breeze) or cooling gadgets like the Sharper Image personal neck cooler?
So I have the artic air and it works best if you freeze the filter after soaking it. I will say though that it definitely doesn't cool down my whole room

Is it hot and dry (like below 40% humidity)? Use a swamp cooler
Is it hot and humid (like most places)? Do not use a swamp cooler
Evaporative cooling is a thing but you'll find better usage of it in things like cooling towers rather than air conditioners.
Thx for the test the summer gadgets
Nice! You need a whole video of how tos for making summer gadgets!
Great video hope you are having a good day
You mean a *COOL* day
Ok but for the shirt fan, do you recommend hand washing?
I live in Florida, and everyone knows that when you live in Florida, your A.C always has issues during summer. 😂 You can go five years with no issue from your A.C. But if it does break? It's during summer. Last summer our A.C broke and they couldn't come out and service it for two days. We made it one day before having to go stay in a hotel. Trying to sleep when it's 87 degrees inside, at night? Nope. Hell no. We have invested in a few arctic cools but haven't tried them yet. Hence I'm here. 😂 If something happens this summer, I ain't gonna be sweating it out! 😂
Can we have an update?
Arctic Air is basically what Californians call a "swamp cooler". Evaporative cooler. It only works well in very low humidity environments, like California. When the humidity is like 1-2% and it's 100 degrees outside, a swamp cooler is fantastic. Of course, that dinky little thing isn't going to cut it. You're going to need a huge beast. When I lived in California, I found the best way to use the roof top version is to turn it on and then open a window or door on the opposite end of the house. It also helped if the swamp cooler unit was shaded. Where I live now, swamp coolers are useless. Too dang humid.
The vest can help when you are a mascot.
That's what I thought.
Tabletop swamp cooler would actually be an awesome and useful device for dry areas, where they perform well. Not sure where this was recorded, but one's are definitely better in an area like the dry western US. And I wouldn't expect to cool a room, but it'd be perfect for some extra cooling at one's desk in the office or at home.
this has me DYING
i needed a good laugh
Made me a little smile at "Donatello's Bo".
Thank you. This will be helpful. It's regularly over 100°F with at least over a month with temperatures over 110° F where I am.
With the restriction of no water on my port, it's hard to find good cooling solutions.
Yikes! Our favorite was the portable ceiling fan, it can be a bit noisy but it instantly adds a touch of class to any environment!

Arctic air is a swamp cooler. They work great if you live in dryer areas like the western half of the US. But if you live in the eastern half like I do where every summer is humid, they do jack all

I love the 1st Arctic Air, But I put ice in with the water & it makes a HUGE difference!!!
Just watching these for happy time-
That cooling vest would be perfect for fursuiters
So glad it finally winter in Australia
I bought a Artic Air Ultra , I absolutely love it, it’s a little noisy at level 3 but it cools down a room really quickly, and the water lasts a long time
An Artic Air cooler is an evaporative cooler, and it works the best in arid conditions. It won't work well in wet conditions, and yes, evaporative coolers can and do work great.
As Seen on TV gonna come get you!
I really enjoy your vids!there really fun to watch!
Many moons ago I worked at a big box hardware store and it never failed that come the summer heat there was a large number of customers who didn't understand how ACs worked. They were always amazed that there was hot air to be vented. They didn't understand that you can't "make cold", you can only transfer heat. Invariably there were those who insisted they saw a commercial of, or they knew someone who had, "an AC with no heat to be vented". I explained to them that there was no such thing and the closest item to that description was an evaporative air cooler and while it would put out cool air it would also spike the room's humidity. Nope, it wan't one of those. They were insistent that the magical break-the-laws-of-thermodynamics appliance they sought truly existed. This always ended with my supervisor telling me to quit referring them to stores in Narnia.
That plastic ceiling fan is a staple in any Filipino home
It’s something we didn’t know existed but were quite happy to discover.
YES LOVE YOU GUYS KEEP UPLOADING
Just remember, if you live in an area that has high relative humidity, evaporative coolers just don’t work.
like south carolina or florida where i live. lol that thing would be WORSE than just a fan! even if you put ice in the water. it would still just increase the humidity making it feel hotter and not really lower the temperature much!
Another awesome video Iron hackers
