  • This project car has been a LONG time in the making but we're finally down to ironing out the last few major issues on the 1970 Pontiac LeMans! Our Pontiac 455 is rebuilt and incredibly healthy, topped with 6x heads, an Edelbrock duel plane intake manifold, and still rocking an old school Quadrajet carburetor modified to handle the extra power this monster now makes! The only thing NOT old school on this classic muscle car is the MSD 6AL-2 Ignition ... which seems to be the only thing we are really having issues with now!
So, what exactly is going on? Let's talk trouble shooting. The car will randomly shut off. Sometimes after running for 2 minutes, sometimes after 20 minutes, sometimes it runs just great for an hour. Then it will shut off and refuse to restart. Sometimes it will take a minute or two and fire back up, sometimes it will leave you stranded for 20 minutes on the side of the road cursing. In this video we go through the process of diagnosing our MSD ignition system, and overcome our challenges to get this 455 Pontiac LeMans back on the road for the first time in over 3 years!
Classic cars are a hobby of passion, for the most part it makes no sense to pour time energy and money into them. This particular car OBVIOUSLY is no gem when you see it but hearing it rumble to life and stomping on that loud peddle... you don't understand the feeling of bringing something like this back to life until you do. Thank you to everyone who's been involved in getting this car back to life, without the help of others this machine would never have returned to the road this summer. Now it's time to put some miles on this car and enjoy the late summer days/nights!
Oh, and yes this IS the Pontiac Engine from the Big Block Wars video we put out almost a year ago. It has finally found its home back under that beautiful patina hood! The 451 Mopar is ALMOST ready to come back home and get installed as well, all that leaves left is the 455 Oldsmobile to get dropped in the 65 F85! Hopefully you don't have to wait much longer to see those rides come to life as well!
