Not only is this awesome, but the fact that you would do this for your family pet is double awesome. A lot of good work went into this project but the reward is so very much greater. I wish you, your family and Bubba the best for the future. You are wonderful caring people to do something like this which i am also very sure that you have inspired many more to make their pets lives more comfortable and with less physical pain in their golden years. God Bless Your Family and Bubba. Thanks for taking the time to make the video also.
This is absolutely brilliant! Thank you for posting this as my little Corgi can't really go up and down stairs anymore and doesn't like to be carried. This is ingenuity at its best! Thanks again.
I’m so happy I found this. My pitbull is 12 and she’s having such a hard time with the stairs now. She can walk them but by the time nighttime comes she’s so soar and in pain. I hope I can use this video and build her own soon!
I finally am a couple days from finishing a pet stair lift. The step in/out is only 5"!! Push a button and goes up/down and stops on its own. It's only 12" wide too. The best thing.....it's super quiet!!!
Renee and Jean, Thanks a lot!My parents have 2 old heavy dogs with problems. And this is the best solution for them. My husband and I will try at Christmas time help my father to build it in their home(in Brazil). Thanks a lottt! You don't have idea how you help other people sharing this video! JuGaribaldi
I don't know if anyone else thought of this, but for lugging stuff upstairs, like laundry or sundries, for limited mobility or elderly (anyone who needs a hand on a rail to climb stairs), this is pretty good as well!!
thanks alot for this video ! 🙏🏼 was searching the whole time for an instruction ! please never delete those videos, you‘re helping many dogs with it. 😇
Wow so very clever and a lot of work, well done. I wonder if there's a way for at the door to be hinged at the very bottom or even concertinad so the door itself becomes the ramp all the way to the floor. Even something like a 2 part drawbridge that folds as it closes or opens. It could even be automated or spring-loaded with a lever that pushes against a stop at the bottom of the stairs causing it to open slowly as the bus reaches the bottom. The floor of the bus could be a plate that triggers an oscillating switch allowing the bus to go up or down once the dog's weight was on it. Even without any automation a whole other piece the full height of the front of the bus hinged to the top of the existing door could fold so that looks like the front of the bus again but when it comes down to the bottom it all unfolds to a full ramp to the floor. Just a thought.😊
Holy Cow! This is one of the coolest, most innovative good use of youtube ive ever seen. I have an old girl myself and was googling around and you popped up. I now feel like a bad dad to my old gal thanks to you. Far out man. I would totally do this except my garage is not behind my stairs. Thanks for posting this! Ive been around enough C-Channel, pulleys, and winches to know you must use these in your line of work from time to time, or ur an engineer! Lol Cheers!
Hi Kelly! I can't remember if we included that in part in our video, and I just looked through all of our pics of the project from start to finish and cannot find one. Give us a day or so, and we will take a photo of the bottom of the bus and post it or send it to you.
Hi PopShop2012. Yeah, we actually just noticed that ourselves. I just added a comment to the video instead of having to recreate again. Thanks for watching!
Hi Richard! Not in NY, but if you watch the video you may be able to DIY, or have a local carpenter do it. We've already seen some others recreate it. Good luck!
Hello Jean-Marc. Thanks for a great video. Just wondering about the winch cable. The slot in the wall is very small, so how did you get the big end of the winch cable through that slot. Did you take the end of the cable apart and reconnect it afterwards.?
Hello! Yes, we were renting at the time, and no we did not get into trouble because the holes were very small but we left everything in great condition when we took it down and left. Thanks for watching! 🙂
Renee: i know this is an old video but do you have instructions for making this that you can share? how long did it take to create the whole thing from start to finish? any safety concerns about the "bus" rolling back down stairs by accident while the dog is in it?
This is the full edited version video my hubby made that includes everything from the track to the system to the bus etc. We used ours for years and it never rolled backwards. I encourage you to watch the full video at least once. ua-cam.com/video/i3gY8rNpSeM/v-deo.html
Excellent! We manufacture dog wheelchairs and I would like to put this on our website. Would you be interested in writing up a parts list? It would be extremely helpful to owners of HandicappedPets.
+Mark Robinson Hi Mark! Glad that you liked our video! Our Bubba refuses to do the stairs manually anymore; he just loves his new ride! Due to the many variables involved including dog size, dog weight, home set-up, stair set-up, my hubby made a general instructional video listing everything you will need in the video, but again...each scenario is different. Of course you may include this video on your website; we are honored! Please remember to give my husband Jean-Marc Santiago credit as he is very happy to help anyone that he can and answer any questions that they may have. Please make sure to use the correct version as the 1st video I made duplicated the ramp section. Here is the correct/edited version: ua-cam.com/video/i3gY8rNpSeM/v-deo.html. Thanks again for watching!
Well, the reason I asked was due to rain, and I was wondering what different materials I'd need to compensate for the weather. I will watch the video in full (:
+Becky Chatelain The tracking and pulleys are galvanized steel, so they will hold up for a while, use pressure treated wood, outside carpeting, and the winch would need to be out of the elements and keep hand control tucked away so that it stays dry as well.
Great video! I really need this for my 15 yr old lab but don’t have the skills to DIY it myself. Also my staircase is outside. I guess it would have to be built without the carpet? Any chance you are in the NJ area? Thx
Hi Tammie! Sorry, not in NJ. Just show this video to your local handyman ank him to improvise it for your situation. Good luck, and thanks for watching!
Hey! I'm a producer for INSIDER and would love to do a video about this lift. Did you invent it for your dog? Would it be OK for us to use your videos? We would give you onscreen credit of course! Let me know if you have questions and if there's a good email to contact you. Thanks!
Hey their Bubba!.. Would your Daddy like to share his plans with me for my Mums Dog Charlie.. Charlie has displasure in both front legs and his mummy lives on the second floor of her house. Charlie is a large 90lb standard Sausage Dog and is very sad he cant be with his mum while hes healing. If you can ask John Marc if he has any plans that he can share it will be awesome.. Thank you Bubba
PLEASE WATCH EDITED VERSION: ua-cam.com/video/i3gY8rNpSeM/v-deo.html which includes the 3 sections, ramp, bus, and winch. Thanks for watching!

Bubba is a much loved dog, a lucky dog

Hi, did this help your older dogs? I have a 50 pound baby
Bubba was a lucky boy, you are a good man for doing this for your dog .
Great job putting this together. I need to do something like this for our corgi.
I don't know if anyone else thought of this, but for lugging stuff upstairs, like laundry or sundries, for limited mobility or elderly (anyone who needs a hand on a rail to climb stairs), this is pretty good as well!!

Thanks for watching Laura! We won't delete them. We are happy to help others.
Brilliant! Our dog (Ronald) has just had major hip surgery, will be building similar this weekend. Thank you!
You are very welcome! Good luck with your project!

Great job !! True Bully lover !! Sure does beat carrying them and risk falling. Great job !! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
this is wonderful
Super awesome stuff!
Amazing. Going to try to build this for my doggie!❤
Hello, is there anyone in the NJ/NY area that could build this for us? Please contact me!
Excellent video. Thank you for sharing.
You could have had a double hinged door at the front and had the door open down to the bottom of stairs not needing the other contraption
Great job!

I so luv this!!! xoxo :)
Great Video. Wondering if you could show or explain what you did on the underside of the bus to allow it to slide down the rails? Thanks!
Hi Kelly! I can't remember if we included that in part in our video, and I just looked through all of our pics of the project from start to finish and cannot find one. Give us a day or so, and we will take a photo of the bottom of the bus and post it or send it to you.
Great idea. Maybe if you could edit the video? Half way through it starts over. I'm not sure your aware of that. Again GREAT IDEA!
Hi PopShop2012. Yeah, we actually just noticed that ourselves. I just added a comment to the video instead of having to recreate again. Thanks for watching!

How'd you secure the ramp to the floor?
thank you for your video,I love my dog with all my heart and I really need this.
Hello Jean-Marc. Thanks for a great video. Just wondering about the winch cable. The slot in the wall is very small, so how did you get the big end of the winch cable through that slot. Did you take the end of the cable apart and reconnect it afterwards.?
Yes, exactly!
Thank you! Yes, that is exactly what we did!
how is the winch hooked onto the trolly?
Thank you so much!
Thanks for sharing.
Fantastic. But did you say you were renting? Did you get in trouble drilling holes?
Hello! Yes, we were renting at the time, and no we did not get into trouble because the holes were very small but we left everything in great condition when we took it down and left. Thanks for watching! 🙂
Do you think you could show how it is made a section at a time, as a mini lift?

Can a dog walk up the stairs.
Genius!
Bubba was one lovely dog whose owner is one beautiful person. I wish there where more people around like you particular in the White House.

Is there a way this could be adapted for outdoor steps ?
Hi Becky! Yes, this can be done on any stairs. Watch the video.
