the whole metal trilogy metal crue/ripper/machine are pretty much love letters to metal/rock bands. The youtuber piscator has lyrical videos for all of them that shows the references. metal crue uses bands names for lyrics metal machine use lyrics from songs for its lyrics while metal ripper uses song titles for lyrics
Re: what they're throwing out, they start with drumsticks and guitar picks, which is actually fairly common (although nowhere near compulsory) for rock and metal bands. Some bands don't do it, some only do it on the last show of a tour, others do it every time. I say rock and metal bands because that's the only genres I've watched live, I have no idea if the practice happens with live shows of other music genres.
The song consists of various rock and metal band names and the song is considered a tribute to those bands. The lyrics might not make a lot of sense unless you know the names of the bands though. Jocke must have had a lot of fun writing this one. 🤘
Awesome reaction video! If you want to watch an amazing LIVE performance, watch Phil Collins "In The Air Tonight", that is worth watching, would be curious on your reaction to it!
