Be careful Arumba, to get the Indo-Norse achievement you need to have a kingdom in India as your *primary title*, so if you form Scandinavia first you can't make the kingdom your primary title, making the achievement unattainable unless you lost the empire somehow.
I think you can get rid of gavelkind if the religion is reformed (move to primogeniture for example). So he could destroy the title for the achievement.
@@B3rten Scandinavia is an empire title and once you become Emperor, the empire title would be the primary. You can't destroy it or change to a lower title. So for the achievement, he must get the Indian Kingdom before making an empire title or somehow lose it.
@@markmcelroy1872 that does not work like that. The primary title is the top tier title held. If you have multiple of a top tier, you can change it any time. Arumba's problem is that the achievement calls for a kingdom title in India. If the title was an empire it would be a lot easier because you'd have few king vassals rather than many duke vassals. That would be a problem because of the vassal limit
How to form scandinavia 1. Raid untill you gain 500 prestige 2. Raise a tribal army 3. Pick "become a king" ambition" 4. War everybody 5. ??? 6. Profit

To newer viewers of this series, please note this playthrough has been abandoned halfway through. I personally found out after reading a comment much further into my watch. It is still really enjoyable and a real shame that it was not finished.
Building the Market chain is the best idea at this point of the game. While it says it only increases the income by 0.50, in your case it will increase by 1.50 for each level since you have 4 clear holdings that increase your Tribe income by 200%. It also is best to hoard your prestige instead of building since 500 Prestige gives you access to stacks of 2500 soldiers with WAY better quality that what you can raise from your tribe normally. What I generally do is I only build when my character is old (50-60+) and I have no more need for these stacks (they punch quite a lot but also cost a lot to maintain and will disappear if you're bankrupt).
+Arumba Income is borderline useless with the Norse. I would suggest always going for the Levy Size Increase since it will help you loot more cash monies which is where you get your primary income AND prestige for more tribal warriors etc. just a thought. Also there is an event you get which spawns ships and shipyards in your holdings in the later years so you don't have to worry too much about that till it fires. BUT if you do manage to get ship building 1 it will actually upgrade to ship building 2 so that's werf.
Arumba I have been watching since 2013. I will continue to watch as long as you keep going. Idk what is going on but your videos bring me joy when many people did not. Keep going man!!
If you Build Zeal but don't want the troops you can just disband them, no penalty. Otherwise they have to fight against heathens or heretics to be happy.
Arumba, you should go for the Viking Ummah achievement or whatever it's called which is where you need to have your capital province as Islamic with a norse culture
Hey Arumba, just so you know, to get Legacy of the Indo-Norse the kingdom in India has to be your primary and highest title which means if you create the empire of scandinavia for Got-Land you'll need to destroy it again eventually.
The Gute people have always dwelled in Gottland. The dynasty we know today seems to have begun in the late 8th century, with the vasalization of Gottland to Ostrogothia. While we know them today as far more than Ostrogothic servants, it is time to take a look at the history of these mighty empire builders.
I suppose you can't form Scandinavia before you get Indo Norse. I read that in case of this achievement you need to have primary kingdom tier title in India.
Arumba, remember that you need to lose the Empire title along the way if you want the Indo-Norse Achievment, since it needs a Kingdom as the highest title. My advice would be a Elective Empire and then you loose the sucession.
Yes i know crazy talk, but thats the easy way to deal with this achievment, otherwise you have to be a Kingdom the whole time while you create a Realm that reaches from Skandinavia to Mongolia and down to India.

Does Legacy of the Indo-Norse actually work well with Got Land? Legacy of the Indo-Norse requires a kingdom in India to be your primary title, and if you hold an empire (like the Empire of Scandinavia required for Got Land), you can't have a kingdom as a primary title, I thought.
You can push for just a kingdom in scandinavia and expand from there without creating an empire or migrate to india then reconquest scandinavia after you get an empire in india for easier vassal management/vassal limit expansion. After that, you can create an empire of scandinavia and make it the primary.
If you went with the ambition to be king of Sweden you could have gotten free reign to eat some other OPMs... It's what I did on a similar achievement run.
Never played ck2, looks way deeper than eu4. What's your thoughts, Arumba, on EU4 vs CK2? I tried CK2 once but it was too much reading or I just didn't get what to do
Someone in a previous comment section once compared the two games to Sim City and The Sims. The main appeal that CK2 has over EU4 imo is following the ongoing legacy of a character and their family.
they are two completely different games. CK2 is largely based in the vassal-lord relationship (as well as diplomacy between other nations). so yes! your assessment is correct, it's largely based on relationships (marriages, plots, assassinations, diplomacy, bribes, etc.) so one must learn how to control them in order to have a stable and sizable realm (as well as levy). there are more factors to it as well tho... laws (from taxation to inheritance), raiding, warring, etc. as you may have seen and you control land directly, you have a "demesne" which you can improve, those empty holdings under a county can be built on (from castles, to temples or cities), etc. (although it depends on the government type you have... arumba is playing as a tribal count, but there's feudal, iqta, monastic feudal & nomad governments as well... each with its own particular style) as in EU4 you have factors that either limit your abilities, or improve them (like personality traits), you control 1 character and it's all about your dinasty. piety & prestige are big factors, etc. i hope you enjoy it! :D
Like the other comments already explained. CK2 gives move detail into the dynastic and internal/external relations. Combat is still strategic (better to defend in mountains and other good defendable ground). While EU4 might be more grand (as in it has the whole world you can conquer) I guess you can say that CK2 is more deep. IMO CK2 is way easier than EU4 but that might just be because I'm not that good at EU4. The only thing I can suggest you do is watch let's plays and/or try for yourself. (BTW the mods for CK2 are top!). If you try to pick up CK2 again I hope you have a wonderful time playing.

I'm not sure which of the regions you're referring to, but no it isn't :) Gotland has a hard G, so straight up saying it like it's written is pretty much as close as you're going to get in English. The Geatish realms have a hard G in English, but a soft G in Swedish (approximately the southernmost 25% of Sweden is called Götaland, which could be approximated reasonably well in English by saying "Yurtaland" with a silent R, British style). Then there's the Jutland peninsula in Denmark, which is written as Jylland in Danish and pronounced like "Yilland" (the "i" is actually a "y" sound, but it looked too weird to write it as "Yylland").
