@robertomoore its either a Gibson J-200 series or Epiphone EJ-200 series... looks like a gibson to me. Crazy nice guitars but in the $3000+ price range
can you not just look at his fretting hand in this video with a singular static camera shot? It's in open D tuning. So low to high will be; DADF#AD. I'll let you do the rest!
Elaborating on falsetto, Justin Vernon has a very rich, deep bass voice. His falsetto sits significantly lower than the average man's. If you're a normal or high voiced guy (baritone/tenor), he's singing falsetto at pitches you would almost surely be more comfortably singing in your normal voice. At the same time, the fact that he has already "switched" into his falsetto (and stays there) means that he can effortlessly swing up to notes that are surely within the range of your falsetto, but outside your normal register. That means that most men trying to sing Bon Iver tunes end up constantly switching from the normal part of our range into falsetto and back again. Sufficed to say, it's a real pain.
Just imagine him strumming away like this alone in his little winter cabin... before his fame exploded.

Chords
Justin is very right-brained. he understands that his voice is an instrument that can be played in many ways. Some arcane genius there.
@LukeRobinson10 Sarcasm?
Does Nicki Minaj really believe the she deserved the grammy over this man?

Justin is my only inspiration to perhaps be bearded one day. :)
can one learn to sing like that or is this something you are born with.
If you mean the falsetto, it's about finding a sweet spot and being able to sing in that range above where your voice cracks. Trial and error.

+Simon0 you can learn to do anything, but reciprocating the feeling he puts out is something unique to the soul.
Does anyone else feel like he looks like an average but very likeable guy?
When I say average, I mean he looks like the average Joe, not like some famous musician.
it's a gibson.
So this is what Trevor is doing when he's not with Michael and Franklin.
