I can feel the words here. I walked around my childhood wood two years ago and the memes blindsided me. Can't say I wish to walk there again, just too many ghosts of the past, and of those that have left us too soon.
love it...love the guitar work..love the arrangement....love the lyrics...i love the fact that i go dizzy with the wall of sound that it builds...breaks down...and then builds again....
These guys are so awesome! You can see how much energy and how much feelings they in their music. And that is exactly what I feel when I listen to them so much positive energy so much love! We just want a new album Mr. Vernon..
listening to this song for the frst time in four years. I can almost see the rain falling consistenly on the bus I used to take everyday at 6.50 a.m. and the weary people hopping on and off at the stops
@malco2121 I dont want to be a smartypants, but the greatness with listening to Bon Iver live is the rearrangements of the songs.. Noones playing the original guitar-part in this arrangement. If you look at Justins guitar throughout the video, you can clearly see and hear that his guitar is not only very much present but the loudest instrument in this recording..
@cactusfarm I thought it was a custom jazzmaster at first but I recognize the brand's symbol now thanks to you ! This guitar sounds awesome, the sound is so round and warm.
@tilourlightsburnout it looks like a reverend. they have jazz master ish bodies and have a lot of p-90 guitars. i've never seen this model but i'll bet its a reverend because of the body. they're not the best guitars quality wise but they have lots of unique pickup configs like this one
The solo that starts at 3:12 is really one of the most underrated pieces of guitar I've ever heard. Almost never do you hear a solo that is completely melodic, and useful for building any emotional tension. Such a beautiful piece of guitar work.
They rely on it 100%. In their lives performances they involve the audience in the music making too. Truly cathartic to scream or sing your guts out whilst they provide the space and encourage your participation. This band is a great example of why I value emotive artists over technical ones. Just breath taking.
This is when “the band” hit their groove. Much like Kevin of tame impala, Justin can mastermind a piece or performance. But these performances where he gets lost in the music and sound he’s built with others help is utterly beautiful.
This is actually my favourite Bon Iver performance ever. The only thing coming close is that performance of Skinny Love on Jools. But, wowza. This is just brilliant. And the mate who stated that this was 'disarming' completely bulls-eyed this. This is brilliant.
Its just a bummer that in 2008, I was too young (8) to realize what wonderful music really sounds like. I would give everything to hear him live at least for one time. He is a genius and has alreay helped me through some tough times.
Back down, down to the downtown Down to the lock down, boards, nails lie around I crouch like a crow Contrasting the snow For the agony, I'd rather know Cause blinded I am blindsided Peek in, into the peer in I'm not really like this, I'm probably plightless I cup the window I'm crippled and slow For the agony I'd rather know Cause blinded I am blindsided Would you really rush out for me now? Taught line, down to the shoreline The end of a blood line, the moon is a cold light There's a pull to the flow My feet melt the snow For the irony, I'd rather know Cause blinded I was blindsided
Who are these negative minded people who're giving thumb downs? If you don't like someone else's creation, just leave and go on with your lives... Instead of giving those who're at least trying a bad feeling.
magnificent, again. i want to listen to every version of every song he's created. everytime he plays his songs he puts a totally unique spin on them, so each time it's different but just as perfect. THAT takes talent.
artist's like this are few and far inbetween, and it's a blessing to the musical world that doesn't get heard enough... in all reality music is getting worse and worse, just flip on the radio for 10 minutes
heard this song 6 years ago after a 6 year relationship. Slept on an Airbnb and i couldnt keep myself to the bed so i slept on the couch. Following day i went to see Bon Iver and Jason Vernon took my breath and heart away.
Listening to this while raindrops fall on my bedroom window.. there are no words to describe the feeling
I can feel the words here. I walked around my childhood wood two years ago and the memes blindsided me. Can't say I wish to walk there again, just too many ghosts of the past, and of those that have left us too soon.
Well this is me right now.
The album is so well produced, yet so raw at the same time. He had such pure vision when he wrote it.
I cannot even state how much I appreciate Bon Iver. I just love love their music.
That riff at 3:26 is one of the most tasteful lines of guitar solo I've ever hear. I'm speechless...
bon iver and matt corby are the two most unique and beautiful sounds of the 21st century
Well said
minus matt corby
*keaton Henson and Ben Howard also
max birch who’s Matt corby? More like Ben Howard

It's just me or the line "my feet melt the snow" is the most beautiful line in the whole song?
This aged like fine wine. Stunning.
I was wondering why the havarti I'm eating tastes so rich...
2020 be like,
"For the agony I'd rather know."

It's a beautiful build in the song
His voice soothes me... it's so melancholic but in a way that kind of gives hope, too...

bon iver just made me fall wildly in love with life
just imagining myself sitting in the wood staring at stars and bon fire
Perfect image. I listen to Hinnom, TX and imagine floating down a river on my back that winds through a century-old forest/mountain combo.

You mean staring at stars and bon iver? (☞゚∀゚)☞
@@ILoveMagic15 you mean bon vire ; )
amazing artist.
hope I have the opportunity to see him live someday
I dream of watching him play live one day and singing with him.

Justin Vernon is a god
I want to live in the woods and make a beautiful album.
Feeling very sad and emotional with tears on my pillow while, stumbling upon this “moving piece” of music and Justin’s phenomenal melodic voice... 😢💫😥
so old it was on myspace
3:18 for the start of the beautiful and brilliant guitar solo =)
Gosh and that's some FAT strings on that guitar!!!
I played this album for a few weeks nonstop in my car after my dad passed on. It really helped

@@EthanTheMighty doesn't mean their touring near him.
With so few elements, he takes us on a sonic journey that lasts 7 minutes but feels like seconds!! Pure genius.
exactly!!!
So, Bon Iver is one of those groups that sound even better live than on studio...
if you like bon iver i strongly recommend “lufu” by Homes, incredible album.
i come back here every once in a while you know, always with something different

Matt Pfeifer this girl
Me for sure... a bit addicted! Justin dreams last night Bon Iver/ Justin Vernon on repeat 😂
Truth. Good music never dies.
Forgetting 2008 is 11 years ago. What the heck.
13 years. It happened all so fast. Feels like yesterday I was listening to all these Myspace Transmissions from Bon Iver when they first came out.
2019 and my hair is still rises every goddam time i'm listening Bon Iver
Listening to this during quarantine makes me miss 2008 even more
