- Thanks to a close look at wings in nature, the BionicSwifts are agile, nimble and can even fly loops and tight turns. The five artificial swallows can move in a coordinated and autonomous manner in a defined airspace by interacting with a radio-based indoor GPS (ultra wideband, UWB).

It just makes you realize how amazing real birds are...
Fiesto as always shows that engineering is an art.... Beautiful design... Fantastic execution...
Sehr gut, ausgezeichnet!
I'd like to see this developed further, where the BionicSwift would be able to land on 'legs' and then take off again from those 'legs' with only its 'wing power' and perhaps assistance from said 'legs'...
Pretty much the only time real swift’s use their legs is nesting and roosting, they can go for weeks without landing

You are lucky!
Absolutely LOVE IT! I have 4 Ornithopters already and is Fascinated with them. Love to have this 💙
Hi
That's so beautiful!. The perfect balance between art and technology ⚖️
this is beatiful, i really appreciate what you guys are making, i actually want to work at festo
This felt like a CGI!
So well made!
I get goosebumps. This is so cool. I only regret that I am a Bosch fan.
breathtaking!
Amazing!!!
Beautiful beautiful beautiful
*_Festo's bionic robots are so cool!! The future comes!_* ❤️❤️❤️
All fun and games till Ai makes them violent.
@@unitedspacepirates9075ai make them violent?😂
That's unbelievable and super cool.
It looks amazing
great job FESTO
They are perfect!
1:28 that drop though...wooh!
looking at the wings, i was wondering if it would be better to have the feathers so that the topmost feather is at the wing tip while this is the opposite. made a quick image search and looks like that at least with real birds, it is so.. maybe because their support structure for wings is a bit different?
Birds are fake confirmed
Maybe one day , hopefully soon we will all be able to simply wear a carbon fiber jacket equipped with wings and also fly away to our wanting destinations!?
the individual feathers is amazing, usually it's a solid wing
0:18 boop
Love from India ❤️❤️
Cool🔥🔥🔥
That's actually so cool
Fascinating😳
Started with carrier birds, went to drones, now back to birds. lovely.
Looks so much more fun than drones
superb.
A few years ago Air Hogs came out with a pretty nice ornithopter, that had decent control authority.
It was dubbed the Firewing, and it was very characteristically similar in flight to this aircraft. Doesn't seem like there have been too many advancements in this tech since them.
Seriously?
It seems to me the similarities end with them both looking like birds...
@@LittleLionRawr I doubt there is much more to this version than an additional degree of freedom on the tail control, and perhaps a slightly more robust material used.
Other than the spiraling stall maneuver, it seems demonstrate very similar characteristics.
Now the Festo "Smartbird", that was an impressive ornithopter! I would like to see them put more development into that larger platform.
This one is almost autonomous and other birds can communicate and optimize their paths. True the main change is on the software side, but technologies grow in leaps and bounds only
I'd actually like to hear how they really sound
Horrible, like all ornithopters probably. Still an impressive bird, especially at that scale.
@@KP3droflxp yeah servos have never sounded great lol
I really appreciate the effort the engineers put into the project
May I know the material used in the place of feathers
I think it’s layered foam
That's reality cool, wow
Unfassbar!
With new canopy..next time with hummingbird please...
How heavy is a robot bird allowed to be in order to still be able to fly?
If that thing can have wings can you make so human sized ones, I would like to fly also
Hi Festo , do you have any papers about the wonderful bird?
Hi Yishi, thanks for your comment. You can find further information here: bit.ly/32Fo59i
looks like a very clumsy bird. but i think it has a lot of potential
What if they make a larger scale wings and strap onto human and see if we can fly with those wings or not
I believe flight is understood.
Could you make a large one that a human could ride on?
I am thinking to invest in these kind of products
Cleaver , advanced recharge battery 🔋 cell and maybe camo solar panel for landing then recharge ?
I like how they implemented glider function. I have never seen anything in other bionic birds. It seems pretty natural. The most sadnesses fact it is doomed to fly into wireless beacons cage because nor attitude sensors nor surface recognition system are able to operate as fast as drone behave, I guess.
ofc it’s possible, just takes a lot of smart engineering
So. My question is. Can we modify this exponentially larger to support a human? Imagine that. Controlling a robotic bird flight suit. Or even just being strapped to one. What I read is an average human would need a 21 foot wingspan to fly. What if we increased that, and adjusted some weight to make it accurate to the weight distribution of an actual bird? I'm not certain how many people would be wing to test something like this, but I for sure would
Very inspiring. Hire me!
👏👏👏👏👏
Are these available in market?
no but, when you look up RC bird or RC ornithopter you'll find similar stuff
You can preorder ( Available in Q4/2021 ) it.
Is it for sale tho
On Application... what can we use this for when we already have drone?
and what are the advantages of this "birds" over drone?
now, what can a superintelligence achieve? A bacon and egg roll
Festo could make the falcon AND the winter soldier.
Where can I buy one?
"Do you like our owl?"
We need a Camera on them
BIRD VS DRONE BATTLE!
Was ist daraus geworden?
I kinda want one
Is it possible to buy one of these at any point?
Thanks for your comment. Yes, check the website (bionics4education.com) for more info about our Bionic Swift Experimental Set.
Ornithopter 👍
Let’s see if people can design robotic birds that you ride on like any aircraft similar to what we see in movies like Avatar where the Navi ride on those dragon-like creatures known as banshees
we already have birds
Hi, my suggestion maybe the elictric zoo park or something like that.... 🤔 Space zoo park or jurassic space park, ex.... might be funny.... If need AI robot or oooztek module, I had Moonly, snowy and mita.....
Can you please shair it's making video
You ready to fly?
A human will hold your hand, And you will take off and fly forever.
This is being called a robot on Facebook. Is it a robot, or is it controlled by a person?
I bet that this was a composite of many takes spliced together and the BionicSwifts were not nearly as smooth and flawless in flight as this commercial makes it appear.
Some images seem more cgi than real.
Wow!
Interesting... robotic birds are born in captivity...
Westworld here we come
your right on the mark.
I will sell my soul for one of these
Can Festo make a Dragon?
Thank you for the inspiration! Let's take it into consideration... :)
@@FestoHQ Respect.
Thank you!
HOW ?

Everyone is commenting on it being a "perfect blend between art and technology". An amazing feat yes, but this is biomimicry. Nature did it first, did it best.
But serious kudos to Festo.
I agree with you. Just for thought, it might have taken nature billions of years to achive what Festo did in months. (Know this is just not comparable, Festo is it selves a product of nature an its long evolution or created by God).
the link 404'd
enough with flying, how about make them land and fly again. :D
fly the bird into a jet engine i dare you.
DEAR;FESTO
YO QUIERO SER VOLUNTARIO PARA PROBAR LAS...(ALAS)✓QUE VAYAS ASER PARA LOS HUMANOS
If this machine like this from dune then it can fly vertically.
..if anyone makes it based on my thoughts just send me the check anonymously ,, if those bionic wings can be made on that body of a bird , why can't it be made on a ××× (bigger scale) for human sizes / weight sizes computerized ,, thus once we get inside the body / cavity we / human subjects can also freely fly just about any where ..!?
It's not passable as a real bird until it smacks hard into one of those windows.
Festo sir can you sj
and now build a flying suit form humans please🤞😉
Government been doing this for years #birdsarentreal
Fight a swift with it
make it godzilla vs mechagodzilla , swift edition
It’s so floppy
Birds Aren't Real. Proof right here.
Develop Big Bird like helicopter
Proof that birds are not real!
Agreed, but it is a creative government monitoring technique

oh and do i get extra credit for liking your comment
@@zackli6016 we responded too, so 10 points?
A real bird would crash into the window...
