I started a new Corsair Leader campaign last night, so I was pleasantly surprised to see this playthrough today. I've been getting a lot of mileage out of my DVG solitaire games (all four air leader games and the Warfighter games) since COVID-19.
Such a fun solitaire game.
I usually choose at least one 'Fast' pilot, each, for air-to-ground and air-to air. That first fire, before the biggest enemy threat gets to shoot, can be a big butt-saver.
That works especially well with the F-16, stacked with GBU-16s and Mk.20s. The F-16 can come in at Low altitude, then switch to High. It goes first and targets the most crowded area with a liberal dose of Mk.20s, then tosses a GB-16 at valid targets nearby, before running off the map. No Pop-Up, no trouble, they never knew what hit them.
@@amundbisgaard7295 - Nice. Cluster bombs are definitely the bomb when you can get 'em into the crowds.
I'm guessing that's over two turns, with the GBUs on the second? Don't recall the details of the GBU attack restrictions per turn at the moment (only guided bombs on a turn?).
Regarding timing of Unfit Status (1:27:50) : the included HL Help Sheet states, under “Stress Accumulation”:
“Place Stress immediately”
“Use Shaken stats if the Pilot’s Stress is in Shaken range.”
“Discard all munition counters if Stress makes Pilot Unfit.”
The rule (9-Stress) on page 5 states, “When a pilot stress exceeds the shaken range, he becomes unfit. When a pilot becomes unfit, (…) remove all weapons (not pods) from the aircraft. An unfit pilot may not attack or suppress. Unfit pilots can evade attacks.”
This clearly means that the Unfit status is immediate upon exceeding the Shaken stress level of the given pilot.
Great video! Tuanks for covering this niche game!
Is there a leader game that is good for a solo gamer on a budget?
I only have one, it's called Thunderbolt Apache Leader. I don't remember the price, it was recommended by a UA-cam gamer.
@@amundbisgaard7295I have heard these are amazing, and each play I've seen of them confirms it.
I got a used edition of Hornet Leader from Board Game Geek Marketplace. It was as new but with a good saving.
