Tony Hadley, your vocal is dynamite, love the sax too. Glad to have grow up in the 80s listening to the charming Spandau Ballet and others. beautiful memories
I'm 72 years old. Spandau Ballet was the last rock group I was excited about. I still love to listen to them today, 40 years later, and when I do I feel the same as I did back in 1983.
I echo every word of your post. 55 years old now and 41 years and counting a die hard Spandau Ballet fan since Gold was released in August 1983 and I’ve never looked back. As you do too, I also feel the same too listening to them today as I did aged 14.
@@RsR6969 I appreciate your response. Gold was the number that really grabbed me first. True is in a tie with it. What I like about SB is that while the music is very riveting it is also very beautiful. The melodies are sophisticated and memorable so one can carry the music in their memory and hum it or sing it. My requirement of music is that it be melodic. Much of what is considered pop music today is not melodic. I mean how are you supposed to hum a rap song? By imitating a dog barking, I suppose.
@@ReggieJohnAgain We are so like minded. Without Gold, I would not have become the fan I have been for these last 41 years but I can’t choose which of True or Gold is my all time favourite song. So it’s a dead heat for me too! Agree totally with you. The music that influenced us as teenagers or in our younger years stays with us through the decades and stands the test of time as the body of work from Spandau Ballet has and will continue to. The 80s was a great decade for music and I’d stick my neck out and say the best. Others are welcome to disagree.
@@RsR6969 I agree totally about the 80’s music. Since I’m older my young music years were in the late 60’s and 70’s. I liked some of the psychedelic music then. My great love from that time was Janis Joplin, and that introduced me to vintage blues. I’m sure Janis being from Texas and being a weirdo in a small town like I was on both counts had some bearing on my attraction to her. I got hooked on Billie Holiday through Janis and owned about 50 of her LP’s.
Tony Hadley has the most beautiful voice. This band is so talented. I grew up buying their albums. They're a timeless band that I will forever love and admire.
Gary Kemp, you wrote beautiful songs. Every band member in this spectacular band is extremely talented. You guys lived out of your suitcase when you were touring. A lot of jet lag and hard work. I love you guys.
That wave of music...late 70's through the 80's.... Duran Duran INXS Squeeze Police The Fixx Elvis Costello The Smiths Echo and the Bunnymen REM OMD Spandau Ballet Frankie Goes to Hollywood XTC Hall and Oates and so much more !!!
Spandau Ballet began their Parade World Tour in Japan, and after selling out 5 nights in Tokyo, flew into Germany on Wednesday 21st November 1984 and went straight from the airport to a sold-out Dortmund Westfalenhalle Arena to perform a blistering set as co-headliners with U2 for German TV show Rockpop In Concert. This concert was first broadcast in January 1985. Fantastici Spandau Ballet, eterni ❤️ Italy.
Thanks for this detailed information 🌟🙏 about this band whom,I ve cherished so much although they were underrated in France and soon to be forgotten contrary to The Cure, Depeche Mode , Duran Duran. Tony s voice remains extraordinary 💡🎆 Nostalgia is creeping. Bye bye from France
One of my fave bands of all time. Thank you so much for the great memories. I got to see you in Sydney Australia. Loved every moment... Thank you thank you!
I know each and every track they played, that's amazing! I can still sing, along to many of them, I still remember by heart the lyrics even though I haven't listened to them for years. It really is the music of my era. The Spands really are a great band and live act.
I love Spandau Ballet! 😃👍. I would have loved to be at that concert. I have most of their albums on LP and CD! I wish that the band would get together and release a new album! - Heather
Oh sweet memories 🥰… Exciting times, unforgettable concerts, meetings, hunting for autographs, photos and souvenirs… Endless hours of waiting… And a big Tony in my small car 🚗 😂 ❤
No doubt one of the best bands of the 80's. You can't go wrong with any song. Important archival material back at hand (or eyes, that is :) 5 thumbs up. I wonder why the band split or Tony Hadley didn't go on touring or toured again with them. Surely, I must be the only one who doesn't know here :) BTW Thank you SPANDAU BALLET for one of the most amazing ballads of the 80's THROUGH THE BARRICADES. It sounds as it just came out every time I hear it. Giant song-writing skills that I do not hear too often these days. Could it be I'm 64 already? I was lucky to work for Concierto Fm in Santiago, Chile back in 1983-1988 when we had a deal with the BBC transcription services and received several IN CONCERT PROGRAMME vinyl records and later cds with the amazing shows of the creme-de-la creme of Brit-Pop. Bravo.
Tony left because he wanted to have a saying in things too. In Spandau there wasn‘t much democracy, it was always Gary who decided what, how and when they played or recorded. Tony had enough of that.
Se nota la evolución que han tenido a través del tiempo por lo menos en directo mucho más elaborados los mismos. En este caso solamente le metían la directa.
Yes,still feel the same as I last saw them, always thought they were the best, even though I was a journey fan, shame spandau are not together, but think the same abt steve Perry and journey journey
That‘s what Tony thought too; life is too short to spend it with people who don‘t respect you. In his own band there‘s democracy, and every member is respected by the others. Garry always treated Tony as an employee.
it's a crime how this band has dismantled after giving the impression with the reunion they are back to stay. I don't know who it's the responsible but an agreement should have been found at any cost. For the fans!
Gary is to blame for the falling apart of the band. He forced Tony to do things he didn’t want to do. In the end he gave him an ultimatum: do what I want you to do, or retire. Tony chose the latter.
@@michelelouisebrown2372 they did two reunion tours, so I do think the wounds were pretty much healed. But when things got messy again the court case sure didn't help to keep the boys together.
