Watching a "Sailing With Six" video is like getting a warm hug, Get Big Red out and come over to me in Dublin and I'll show you around our wonderful National Print museum.
Greetings from New York City: (October 15, 2024)……We just viewed your channel for the very first time & we missed you. We’ve became a fan. May the wind blow on your backs and God speed… Jay, Ola & Sofia ✌️✌️✌️
I am glad you are enjoying your sail into our country. But you will find that the temperature is going to be different. Ya'll might better find a few pairs of long johns. It is going to be cold this weekend.
So fun!!! I love the fact that you all are so stoked to be there. Being an American we often get so caught up withe politics and other social issues that we are fed on the news that it’s easy to take the beauty of our great country (and the world for the matter) for granted. Thanks for sharing family. Cheers.
What a fantastic team you have! I really enjoyed watching how well the kids do at managing the boat. They are all learning so much and will have terrific skills that they can rely on for the rest of their lives. Good on 'ya Mom and Dad! I also loved the fact that you were flying your undies along with the flag as you entered NYC! 😂🎉❤
NH USA here, welcome to America! Love the excitement of the kids seeing this, so great to see. Enjoy your time here, come visit NH right up the road from there. Take care all of you.
Yes, sailing past the Statue of Liberty on arriving in the US remains one of the iconic events of global travel. I did it first on SS Queen Mary in 1960. Sailing under the Golden Gate, Lion's Gate, Sydney Harbour, or Tower Bridges, entering Wanchai, and entering Yokohama harbour are other examples of amazing sailing moments.
This is nice. It's great to see the kid's excitement build on the parent's excitement. It's an eye-opening visit for all of you...but those kids? Man, I'll bet no matter how often they come back to NYC as they age but will NEVER forget this visit. A spectacular 'first' for them.
You two should be so so proud of your 4 child😊ten. They are amazing and beautiful. So helpful and well mannered. You have and are doing an outstanding job raising them. Thanks for sharing.
Fun to watch your growing anticipation as you approach New York Harbor, and then your celebration and early impressions. It's an approach by sea which not too many Americans have experienced (I only visited New York once as a child)-- a great view. New York City has a lot of amazing places to visit, which I'm sure you'll sample in the next video. I hope you'll hear the great Frank Sinatra song, also.
Thank you. Might have copy right issues if we use Frank Sinatra’s song but it’s playing in my mind while I edit the next episode. Definitely a unique way to visit this amazing city 😊
What I really think is unique about your channel, compared with other family sailors, is how much your kids are involved in crewing the boat. It might just be the way other channels edit but your kids handle lines, steer, reef.. the lot, they even seen to be involved in the cinematography. As an ex boat kid myself (been a few decades!) that's how it was for me and how it should be. For one thing, if the adults were ever incapacitated I feel like either of your older children could skipper the boat and the younger ones know how to handle sheets and lines unsupervised and that's great.😊
Yes they’ve become invaluable crew members and we’ve encouraged them to get involved and be part of the team. It’s paying off tremendously. I’m glad you got to have this experience as a boat kid too! 😀
Good episode! You might or might not be aware that the famed Captain Sully landed his 767 on the Hudson River along about there, saving every life on board!
Sully was flying an A320. If he was on 767, there would be a piece of marble with a long list of names there. But yeah you guys are near Chelsey Piers. Sully ditched about 2 miles north, right in front of a wonderful New York neighborhood called Hell's Kitchen. 😀
The Tenement Museum is one of the most amazing things to do in NYC! And right near there is an amazing place called DO, if you like raw cookie dough! Also the Cooper Hewitt Museum is one of the most fascinating places! There are a ton of people and it is very overwheleming but such a magical place if you allow yourself to feel it! Enjoy your time in NYC!
Believe it or not, we Welcome everyone including their laundry, LOL It makes me happy your enjoying yourself s. Where do you plan on heading to for the winter months? Best wishes and Safe sailing ❤
It connects to Staten Island . If Brooklyn is your idea of civilization ( I call it a concrete jungle ) then I'll take the uncivilized slower pace of Staten Island 😁
@@J0EYbagaDONUTS THEY DIDN'T KNOW THAT!!!! 😡Did you have to destroy a good joke with your geography, Buzzkill? Do you go around scaring babies, Boogeyman!? Do you stand in the street on Xmas day and tell children, "your mommy and daddy got it for you, Santa is not real", GRINCH? Do you hold a poster outside of Mayo Clinic saying "Appendix doesn't hurt anymore? Now think how long you'll be paying your medical bills", Barack? And YES, I'd rather move out of Park Avenue and live in Brooklyn than share a home state with Hannity! PS Yes, Verrazzano bridge connects Brooklyn and Staten Island. The one connecting civilization with New Jersey is the George Washington Bridge, but you didn't sail under that one. 😞
When you have time, I have a couple of questions I need for reference. Could you tell me: 1. What was your route from Panama Canal to Miami and how long it took? 2. How long it took you to go from Miami to New York? You stopped twice, right?
1. Panama Canal - Bocas del Toro - San Andres - Gran Cayman - Isla Mujeres - Miami 2. It took about a month but some places we stopped for a few nights. We went Miami - Beaufort/Cape Lookout - Virginia/Fort Monroe - Atlantic City/The Golden Nugget - Atlantic Highlands/Sandy Hook - New York City/Hudson
4:26 I've kept my mouth shut since Mexico, didn't want to spoil your fun. But I can't hold this in any longer. THERE'S A HOLE IN YOUR KITE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
14:54 And while The Mom is poking Miss Eiffel, the sound you're hearing is Blade Helicopter Company delivering yet another rich poomba from Manhattan to JFK Airport. Too cheap to book a private jet from Teterboro! Pfffft
I'm sorry, but~ Archie needs a haircut. BUT - PLEASE, by no means cut his hair. Let me be 100% clear. DO NOT cut his hair. If he cut his hair people, like me, won't recognize him. Now all kidding aside, I truly enjoy your videos. All of your family is a constant source of entertainment. One question for Dad - what is a life less ordinary? Good bless you all.
@@sailingwithsix Watching Outback Truckers is the ticket when you need to learn some Aussie. Slowly-slowly (careful). No worries (a response to thank you). As hot as (VERY!). An easy way to fix that is to just turn the news off. It's all biased crap anyways.
You’re welcome! We try and avoid the news and see the charm in the places we visit 😊
Yeah. I need to practice that also.

Yes they’re turning in to quality crew 😊
Welcome to New York 🗽glad you were able to visit also it looks like an awesome experience sailing underneath the Verrazano bridge. 🇺🇲🤝🇦🇺
Yes it was very special 😊
It’d be so cool to sail into NYC. Thanks for bringing me along.
You're welcome 😊
Observing Lady Liberty, as we honor those who lost their lives while defending their country, this Memorial Day. 🗽🇺🇸
Thanks for sharing.
Yes a special day to be passing by the statue!
Welcome to America guys. Groovy episode. Have fun but be careful. NYC nowadays can be somewhat dodgy.
Yeah we tend to be back at the boat before dark and avoid the worst areas (or try to) Thank you 😊
Fabulous!

Hey. What brand of flexible solar panels did you go with? Do you find their working pretty well glued down? Thanks
Renogy solar panels… they’ve been good to us for the last two years 😊
Thanks, I’ve been considering the same panels so I’m glad to hear you’re having luck with them.

I have seen a few You tube channels head in there but for some reason you guys give me a bit of green and gold malaria.
Awe is that a good or bad thing?! Green & gold malaria 🥴
When did you get Big Red or did it come with the catamaran?
We inherited it when we bought the catamaran - the previous owner purchased it before they crossed the Atlantic.
Oh, those white and blue ferries are actually pretty cool. They run all day with multiple stops on the Hudson like river trams.

how do you wash your clothes

Yep - we have a washing machine. 😊
Please don't let the kids swim in the Hudson! It's nasty polluted. There's coney island white fish(used condoms)floating around all the time. yuk.
