My son was born in the mid 90s, and he LOVED Blues Clues... and frankly, I really enjoyed watching the show together with him. Steve, you were phenomenal in the role and while it may have been a bit of a detour to where you expected your career to go, know that you gave so many kids such a gift of wonder and delight in learning. No one else could have filled that role like you did - and it's even more admirable that you had to reconcile your own conflicting inner feelings and expectations. I genuinely admire your talent and strength.
I have warm feelings for the world that the creators of Blue's Clues, together with Steve, created together; it truly touched millions. It's wonderful to see that, evidenced by this interview, Steve Burns himself is such a great soul. A collaboration such as this, with a pediatric cancer charity, is just about the most 'Steve' thing he could possibly do: thank you for channeling that same goodness into our world today!
As someone with vague memories of watching Blues Clues as a child, this really brings the perspective of who Steve Burns is beyond the actor on the screen. We've all grown as people throughout time. As someone about to graduate, it does feel like there are too many directions I can go in but the stress over finding a niche direction to work towards is real.
I truly believe that Steve is the most wholesome and deserving of the highest honor that can be granted, whether that be sainthood, knighted, given an honored spot on your altar he continues to this day to sculpt us to be the best and true to ourselves that we can be
It's so nice to hear Steve open up about the struggles he's faced, even while being on Blue's Clues. Growing up, I was tuning into that show quite often and it's always had a special place in my heart, so I love seeing him having these open discussions as an adult. Fantastic episode. Thank you for teaching me to be curious, Steve.
Steve is such a honest person I know he said in some interviews he isn’t the nicest person but he’s the most honest person and that’s what makes him kind and understanding person 💙💚
Framing gentle curiosity as a skill that has to be exercised was so insightful. Plus the lesson the character of Steve teaches, of the importance of genuinely asking for help, resonates with me in particular. It's hard to ask for help sometimes, and the vulnerability of that character really made him brave.
I love how this interview is playful and serious at the same time. The pursuit of happiness in life really isn't a straight line of how you want your life to be and trying to control it. Like time, life is wibbly-wobbly and we shouldn't limit the possibilities.
Steve is by far my favorite host and character on Blue’s Clues. I love Joe and Josh just as much but there is something about Steve that makes him my favorite character: I loved how funny he was and always so happy. I never noticed that he was actually very depressed. Even when I am feeling very anxious, I feel so safe when I watch Steve on Blue’s Clues. I love hearing his voice I just feel very soothed. I wonder if he will see this comment and reply. I would love that. I’m so grateful to my mom and dad for taking me to Oklahoma City to meet the three hosts of Blue’s Clues and that day will always be a core memory for the rest of my life.
It sucks, but men tend to be societally raised to not express emotions and always be the strong all knowing person someone can lean on. Men are people too with feelings and hardships.
Wow. This is my favorite episode so far. So many great points to reap from this. I completely agree with the importance of maintaining curiosity throughout life; it forces us to be open-minded and never stop growing. This is why I personally believe that adults have a great deal to learn from children-they haven't attached to any biases or concepts yet. True listening, as Steve mentioned, also requires curiosity. It is one of the most beautiful things someone can do for someone else and the only way to foster a genuine connection. His point of asking for help struck me hard. Being vulnerable and seeking help is not weak, it is tremendously admirable and rather indicative of strength. It shows that you respect yourself and are willing to improve as a person, and there is no way that is anything but brave. So true about the toxicity of the idea of a singular dream. Humans are complex and we are not destined for any one thing. There is a liberation in knowing that there's an infinite amount of things to explore, discover, and love.
Wow, the message about unexpected adventures is so powerful. You never know what opportunity may be in front of you, and it's fascinating to hear about Steve's origin with Blue's Clues. Thank you for sharing this!
When I was younger Steve and blue taught me things if I didn’t have school I’ve been a fan of Steve since I was a literarily a baby haha it was so fun and still is today Steve did an excellent job in helping me everyone knew about Steve leaving for college and Joe as well I thank Steve for laying the foundation for my learning and am greatful also he’s so so brave for telling us that he had problems and to hear his journey from being Steve till now makes me proud to say hey I knew Steve bf yada yada yada. This was such a powerful video. Thank you Steve, for reminding us that there is no shame in asking for help but rather it's an act of courage ♥
Love this episode. I know with Steve being open about what he has gone through will help so many people. Thank you Steve.
