I'm pretty sure I transferred that buy-back SR. A lot of them looked like that. The head armorer from The Unit came in and said he had used a lot of different match barrels in many of them when it came time to re-barrel them. Most of them were Bow-flaged, some had dope cards laminated to the stocks, different grips, and there was a spread of 20", 22", and 24" pipes. Many had all kinds of sand and dust on/in them. Mix of original KAC carbon handguards, quad rails, and I think some aluminum tubes. One of The Unit engineers bought one, cleaned it all up, welded a custom mid-length quad rail handguard, refinished it in some black Teflon coating, and water-cut some rigid foam inserts for it in a small Pelican case. Looked brand new after he got done with it. Those rifles had a persona to them that was palpable.
Interesting info on H&K. I didnt realize they operated in such a manner. A family friend had an acquaintance that worked at H&K in the 70s and he had some interesting pieces.
Reed Knight put the "Reed" in "Redesign" as I understand it. Kudos. That's a passionate businessman in my opinion, I'm not I'm the firearms business, but that's good form.
I absolutely enjoy and look forward to these vids. I have 30 yrs “behind the gun “ for God and Country. And appreciate a SME with the insight to some unknown facts. Please keep then coming!!
I've seen these rifles preform to an amazing degree of accuracy and consistency. Excellent reliability as well, especially when suppressors are involved.
@@Rainersherwood by that time your going into really long distance shooting. I mean very situational when you will need that. Still the M110 is pretty accurate I remember reading about a Ranger sniper who used an M110 to shoot from mountain to mountain in Afghanistan I think it was a little over 700 meters which is pretty damn impressive.
Thanks for an informative video, Larry. After watching it, I can't help but wonder what the relationship of Armalite, Inc. - the second iteration of the company owned by former army ordnance officer Mark Westrom since 1996 - is to this story. Do the paths of the present-day Armalite and Knights Armament ever cross? Has the former bid for some of the same contracts as KAC? Finally, what do you think of Armalite's rendering of the AR10, both the A and B series?
Your description of HK manufacturing makes sense in its strange availability/ nonavailability in the firearms market. Probably combined with their precision why they are always expensive and why they always escalate so quickly in price when a model becomes unavailable. Have you ever examined the M-25 version of the M-14? I’ve read that Brookfield Precision pretty much solved their bedding problems by producing a high precision metal stock liner that’s beefier and machining the action legs to precisely fit. The liner is then bedded to the stock and the action is then clamped to the trigger housing with no slop between the metal. Similar in action to the Sage stock but much different in design.
Just picked up a POF Revolution DI and that rifle is in my opinion the pinnacle of the AR platform. Essentially an AR-15 chambered in .308/7.62 x51 that weighs 6.8 pounds and loaded with features, $1000 less than an FN SCAR.
The first guys from Delta to show up with SR25's to SOTIC was in 2001, the Sr. Civilian instructor was sure they would not be able to pass the course, they showed him, a framed picture of this two dudes with their SR25 use to hang above said instructor's desk in the old SOTIC office, hope it still hanging in the new building. Love the SR25, as far as the M110 being an improvement over the SR25, no way nearly as accurate, M110 average 1.25 MOA vs the .5 MOA of the SR25, the POI shift was smaller and repetitive with the SR25 suppressed, I saw as much as 5 MOA shift on the M110 when the suppressed, not good.
Does 1st BN, 10th SFG(A) (1/10) have anything to do with the M110? The SR25 was/is the SR25, but my understanding of the M110 nomenclature was that was the Package that 1/10 had put together for THEIR issued SR25s (the scope, bipod, NVD, etc.), and that was the package the Army adopted across the board. Otherwise, great podcast LAV.
FROM A LAYMAN , THE AR-10 GUNS ARE MUCH MORE DEPENDABLE IN A PISTON GUN SET UP, AND THE MAG YOU FEED THAT GUN WITH IS ULTIMATELY AS IMPORTANT AS THE MACHINING ON THE RECEIVER.
If HK had their way they would never have any standardized or universal parts. Proprietary is the name of the game for HK. They don't want you getting parts from someone else. They rely heavily on sole source contracts that's why they were bought out in bankruptcy. Hopefully the new owner doesn't make the same mistake.
The AR-10 was never adopted by the US (Or by anyone really). No need for standardizing something that wasn't adopted, just make a goos gun. And I hate HK, and you're right as a general issue.
SR25 in 6.5 Creedmoor is what they should be using. A Semi Auto that reaches out to 1200 meters? Sign me up. Honestly 6.5 is where the Military should go. 6.5 Grendel for a Carbine and 6.5 PRC for Sniper Platforms. I just don't see how that high pressure SIG 6.8x51 will work out of a 13 inch barrel. Too much recoil and low Mag capacity
@@MrMalicious5 yes but I highly doubt that's a problem for the military. We could switch to . 22 Lr if we wanted long barrel life. Point is performance. It's clear that a better round is needed and if it costs barrel changes twice as often then so be it.
I really hope Larry continues with this podcast series because there is NOTHING else like this online and the man knows his business. Mad respect.
Small Arms Solutions is pretty good.
"serious Stoner guy..... Eugene Stoner" Mr Vickers caught that one in time, AGAIN THANK YOU for another great video.
I can remember seeing the m110 on future weapons with “Mack”
That guy was awesome. RIP.
Damn. Just learned that Richard "Mack" Machowicz died of brain cancer in 2017. 😲😢
RIP Mac.
RIP Mack... I had no idea until I read this😢
ONE SHOT FROM THIS AND IT’S ALL OVER
I'm sitting here watching this and I feel grateful to learn from Larry Vickers. Thank you for sharing your knowledge brother!
great info
Yep
LOVE YOUR CHANNEL MY BRO
Indeed
I learned more about the SR-25 in this podcast than I have over the prior years. Big thumb up.

Love that....would be mind blowing to know the history of alot of those rifles!!!
Terrific history on the SR25. The personal history and background is awesome.
Larry is pure knowledge.... he forgets more about firearms each day than most have learned in a lifetime.
KAC and LMT have always been my favorite for the AR Platform . Just wish I had money to own more of them ..
Nice video LAV

Since original magazines weren't that good, How does the Magpul 7.62 pmags work with the SR-25?
Thank you, Mr Vickers. I appreciate this content. Info I can really absorb.
Real indepth with all the perspective from the Delta Force perspective
Larry thanks for your podcast! It’s very informative!!! Good luck with everything!
Proud to have made the barrels for the SR25 met Gene in Vero Reed spent alot of money to make a modern shop met Gene Stoner good fella
I got the MK 11 mod 0 it’s a great shooter even after many rounds love their weapons
Can’t wait to see the M110A1… ours are having issues already
Great video full of technical info and story. Thanks a lot Mr Vickers.
These podcasts are amazing
Best review on sr25 period
M110 is one of my favorite rifles to fire and own
Thank you mister Vickers. I am doing research on the 308 ARs for school.

Why didn’t I know about the LV podcast until now?
Well, you we're only like 3 days late, it's pretty recent!
Right!?
I just subscribed also
Love this. I’ve always been drawn to ar10 format rifles. In 308, i think it eclipses bolt actions in most scenarios nowadays.

Best gun vlog on YT.
Great Stuff Larry !!! I was lucky to get sr25m in the mid 90'swhen H. Stoner was with the company !!!
Badass episode! Gonna watch it again.

They had one on Camp Vance Afghanistan back in 04. Cool rifle

One of my all time favorite rifles, this is the gun that made me a Knights fanboy
Fascinating discussion, thanks pal!
Reed Knight also has one of the largest collection of Stoner 63 Weapons
Knights coffee table book?
Sr25 , sweet rifle . I miss My old HKPSG1 with the ZF84 glass .
Why larry dont put these videos on his channel!
Wish you also covered the lesser known M110K1.
I love these
Thanks for the fountain of information on these absolutely awesome weapons of mass destruction 👍🏻
The m21 system we used were excellent although heavy.
Can you do a review on the super rare Knights suppressed revolver rifle.

The talk about the SAS, when does that happened? Like what year and in what missions or something?
What are your thoughts on the POF Revolution?
Cool stuff thank you
Always wanted an SR-25
I'm interested in that 5.56 gun too. What optic and mount is that? When was it produced?
Got any of them in full auto?
We had snipers in Vero from the military still own a Colt 2000 9mm
I feel like mentioning the AR-10 without mentioning Ireland/PIRA should be a crime.
We Need close ups of the guns

Good job Larry, awesome stuff! By the way you workin out? Looks like you lost some weight.

I always thought the direct impingment system came from the Swedish Ljungman AG42 rifle.
Hey Larry how do you think these rifles stack up to the H&K PSG series?
AR-10 never died, it just reborn. Do troops prefer this rifle than the M-14?
Didn't David Tubb win the national match with the SR-25 ? Rem 260 I believe.

I got excited when I saw Knight. I was hoping to hear about constant recoil. Nope.....
:(
H&k ate their lunch with the CSASS

Piston gun sensitive to different types of ammo? Then freaking put an adjustable gas block!!

Stoner gang!
Those triple taps, I have two. I don't care what they are worth, I will not part with them.
I WISH A WORKING MAN COULD AFFORD A KAC

And for the rest of us, a Ruger SR-762... hey I'll take it 😄
I picked up a PSA AR10. I like it, it's a nice shooter, just a bit heavy with the 20" thick barrel.
Delda
Sr25 sucks. Scar 17 better
