Aung San Suu Kyi could not assume the Presidency of the Government, since the Burmese Constitution prohibits those who have children with foreign passports from holding the position and Suu Kyi's children have British nationality. Finally, in Parliament - ​​in which the National Democratic League has an absolute majority - it elected Htin Kyaw, a close friend of Suu Kyi and with four of the most important government ministries, as president of Burma. In practice, Aung San Suu Kyi was the leader of the government, but she could not assume the title of “president.” In the general elections of November 2020, the Burmese once again trust in the management of Aung San Suu Kyi and her party The National League for Democracy, granting them a landslide electoral victory.
