It has aged very well by hardly aging! How can a man in his 70s not sound that different than ages ago in my favorite Jardine vocal number, the Breakaway chorus part.
I love this song, heard it quite a lot on the radio. Thought it was an old hit! Strange how the voice still sounds like the beach boys, thought it would have aged very differently.
I love their sound together…..amazing they are so easy to listen to. Big love to Brian Wilson & Al Jardin for still being able to create such beautiful songs
It's not "Pet Sounds" or "Smile" but still a very sweet song. The man can still write great hooks, melodies and vocal arrangements that give me goosebumps!
I could listen to Brian’s melodies all day, truly healing sounds. I’m glad I am alive at the same time as this extraordinary human - the modern day Mozart - and I can’t thank him enough.
The brilliance of Brian Wilson has always been evident A musical genius if ever there was one Although he wrote most of the songs he would ultimately decide who would sing lead vocals at production stage For example it was his decision that his brother Carl would sing lead vocals on "Good Vibrations" on "Darlin" and of course "God Only Knows" but equally he would lend lead vocals to other members on various other tracks That was his brilliance He knew exactly who's voice was best suited to each song
Should've been a major hit. Maybe it was. Great song, great musicians, living legends. Saw Al in person recently at the Dakota Jazz club in Minneapolis. Great show, great musician including stand-up bass & he tells great stories. John from West St. Paul, Minnesota.
Brian Wilson seems happy, am so glad. And he and Al Jardine seem like old fishin' buddies. Good to see David Marks, so great, and Don Was just adds icing to the cake. Love this.
Such a GREAT tune. Enjoy watching this video, seeing Brian Wilson, Al Jardine collaborate with group of talented musicians, including Don Was and Jim Keltner. Always leaves me smiling...
Look people, these are 70+ men singing in a style we seldom hear today, so just appreciate it for what it is: a beautiful piece of music! Who cares if this is digital or not, it IS three Beach Boys (David Marks was NOT an original member, he took over from Al Jardine when he left the group to pursue a degree in Dentistry) playing and singing some 55 years after it all started! GET OVER YOURSELVES AND ENJOY!!!!!
Driving home from work I heard this song for the first time and thought that it sounded like the Beach Boys a bit and really enjoyed it. When it finished it was announced that it was Brian Wilson's song. Well Brian you still have it that's all I can say!
To all the people posting negative comments: these guys made some of the most iconic American music ever produced, and they're now in their 70's and still rocking out. So fuck off with your negative comments because if you should be so lucky to even live that long, you'd be blessed if you could still walk at that age let alone rock! God bless Brian and Al and thanks for all the amazing music!
jamesthebookseller Depends; Jardine and Wilson are obviously still capable of performing well. But when I see David Lee Roth (Van Halen) ,or Kiss, or Ian Gillan on stage, then "old age" is no excuse, it just looks and sounds pathetic! Some artists don't know when to quit. But these two guys are still good. It also depends on the style of music; If you're over sixty ,should you still play in a hardrockband (Roth,Paul Stanley)?
You're right! No offense to Jeff, but his falsetto was way too overpowering and just not as pleasant sounding (see "Desert Drive") for example. Jeff would be good in a Beach Boys tribute band. ...well, actually he kinda is now. lol
It's the voice man. Who cares about a few wrinkles. Time may not be kind but hear the sound, look at the spirit. Talk about heart. For the love of music. The love of singing. How lucky to have such passion for something and to still be able to do it so beautifully. I envy them!
Brian Wilson never fails to make me Smile. This is going to be a great album! Brian and Al sound fantastic together! I can't wait to hear the rest of the album!
My favorite moment is when Brian hits that lyric leading into the beat, and says, emphatically, "But, not this time!" ... such, such, such a beautiful song. The reason why we love Brian is because every ounce of his soul all his life has been about channeling God, in whatever form we identify with Him/Her/It/Everything. ... A treasure, and absurd he is still doing what he's doing after all he has been through. Him/Her/It/Everything is looking over, i'm guessing. :)
YOU GUYS SOAR. ICONIC. MIKE LOVE EAT YOUR HEART OUT. AL YOUR LEAD VOCALS ARE SO GOOD ITS CRAZY. AND SEE HOW PROUD GENUIS BRIAN LOOKS AT MATT JARDINE ON HIS BACK UP VOCALS AND FALSETTO. EVERYONE OF YOU. STUPENDOUS. YOU BET SURVIVING MEMBERS OF WRECKING CREW BLOWN AWAY ON THIS GEM.
Al Jardine still has such a smooth voice at nearly 80 years old and of course Brian is as brilliant as he always has been. These two guys were the nucleus of the Beach Boy sound. Mike Love is a JACKASS who would have spent his life washing cars if it had not been for these two guys!
Think we know even in the early days any one of the Beach Boys could have taken the lead vocals spot but as with this song the balance amd interchanging of the leads just work.
This is awesome. It's really nice to see Brian still recording and enjoying it with what he's been through. The best part is it sounds like he's really improving the sound the original Beach Boys had back during their prime.
I've been playing this song a lot for a couple of years now. I like everything about it but David's contribution is the icing on the cake for me. It's understated but just fits in so well and the song would not be the same without it. He looks so calm and peaceful too. Given that he was Carl's friend originally, I like the fact that he ended up working with what you might call "Team Brian."
Hey leo I can't believe I found you on this video. I've been watching your channel for years. Now I know you have excellent music taste as well. Brian wilson is a genius.
Great song; smooth! I love the run of words, "so many pieces, but never in a very straight line." Wow! I'm glad to see David Marks here, altho they are side shots, not full face.....I always admired David Marks. Brian and Al sound great!! Thank you for the music over the years! God bless you all!!
L O V E in it's unique, beautiful & all-encompassing simplicity in the REALM OF SPIRIT ETERNAL "that's the quest of this humble Don Quijote looking for his..."
Absolutely beautiful. I've been waiting to hear some of this stuff for awile now & I waited for the right night to put it on. It just oozes good vibes like Brian always does.
I am loving this song .voices sound so good .this is what music is all about fills you with joy and happiness in your heart another one of Brian's master pieces
Diggin' everything about this song big time!! Brian and Al's vocals are spectacular with a great, solid, arrangement underneath them. Watch Brian handling the bass parts showing that he does not, I repeat DOES NOT need myKe luHv whatsoever.
Theres countless reasons why the world loves brian: the single most influential, integral artist/composer of the last 52 yrs, and he never makes a dud.
I've been playing music my whole life. I would love to meet Brian Wilson. Can anyone disagree, the guy is a musical genius that will never be forgotten? All the experts out there who comment, "Hey if you can do it, why aren't we watching you on 'UTUBE?' Because he's sold over 100,000.000 albums. He obviously don't know what he's doing!! Love this song!
Brian Wilson you are the best! I got 10 th row center for count Basie in Redbank sept...so excited! My love will be with me in spirit...he educated me on your talent and we listened to countless hours of music everyday...;)
Sherri, you know what? I guess I have already told you this. It surprises me someone so young like you enjoy old songs like this. In a certain way I can understand because I myself who lived the seventies in their plenitude, was also influenced by the songs from the fifties and sixties because of my elder brothers. And the oldies are, indeed, the best ones ever. I always loved music and I'm 58. Believe me. Nowadays it's quite difficult to listen to good music. You probably might have been raised listening to oldies. : ))
Wonderful song and I'm looking foreward to hear the new album. Nice to see hear Al Jardine again. Jim Keltner on drums, my inspiration to play drums. Wonderful
Thank you Brian for so many beautiful sounds throughout my life. There is so much hope in your music.
I’m a 72 year old musician......Brian is the only artist that can bring a smile to my face....
How can you not love Brian Wilson? And it's great to see Al Jardine featuring on some of the tracks and singing lead vocal. He's still got it.
Isn't it nuts? Brian Wilson has been pulling out hits like this for (50 years?).
I love to hear Al and Brian together .... their voices are beautiful together. Live long my dear friends.
Brian's face when he sings shows the pure joy it brings him, and how much he loves everything he does.
Wilson, Jardine, Was and Keltner.
Over 5 years since this gem was released. Like Al's voice, it has aged very well.
Fabulous, beautiful harmonies. These guys sound better than ever, which is quite something considering their advancing years. Long may they continue.
Can't stop listening to this. The vocal harmonies are incredible.
I love their sound together…..amazing they are so easy to listen to. Big love to Brian Wilson & Al Jardin for still being able to create such beautiful songs
That was fantastic. It's like the "Rise of the Pheonix". Top of my shopping list.
Would like to see the genius of Brian Wilson and Paul McCartney do some serious writing and recording together. That would be Epic.
My favorite off of Brian's "No Pier Pressure" album. Now in his 70's, he hasn't lost his magic touch. May God continue to bless Brian Wilson.👍👌
Completely agree It us a beautiful album
It's not "Pet Sounds" or "Smile" but still a very sweet song. The man can still write great hooks, melodies and vocal arrangements that give me goosebumps!
Good Al Jardine's voice sounds terrific, belying his age so much. The younger part of the crew here must have been bedazzled.
Great to hear Brian & Al singing together...😎😎😎
Still an absolute musical genius
Lots of love to you man and long life
I could listen to Brian’s melodies all day, truly healing sounds. I’m glad I am alive at the same time as this extraordinary human - the modern day Mozart - and I can’t thank him enough.
Love the lyrics and melody! Al sings this beautifully and is just awesome here. Brian harmonizes perfectly as always. Just love this song!😊❤
Brian Wilson is a gift.
It is a gift to See you, Mr. Wilson.
Those unmistakable Beach Boys melodies and harmonies. Great stuff.
Im a fan of Jardine: so humble, so talented, so loyal... a real good friend
Anytime is the RIGHT TIME for Brian Wilson music
Brian is back.....AGAIN!! yeah.
stewart beatle and even better than before. I love his new sounds, so unique and refreshing.
The brilliance of Brian Wilson has always been evident
A musical genius if ever there was one
Although he wrote most of the songs he would ultimately decide who would sing lead vocals at production stage
For example it was his decision that his brother Carl would sing lead vocals on "Good Vibrations" on "Darlin" and of course "God Only Knows" but equally he would lend lead vocals to other members on various other tracks
That was his brilliance
He knew exactly who's voice was best suited to each song
Johnny Cash and Brian Wilson, the greatest American artists of their time
All these years later, still pouring them out
Brian Wilson is one of the world's greatest songwriter
Beautiful. I've never heard it before. ❤
Should've been a major hit. Maybe it was. Great song, great musicians, living legends. Saw Al in person recently at the Dakota Jazz club in Minneapolis. Great show, great musician including stand-up bass & he tells great stories. John from West St. Paul, Minnesota.
This entire album is awesome. If you haven't, check it out.
Brian Wilson seems happy, am so glad. And he and Al Jardine seem like old fishin' buddies. Good to see David Marks, so great, and Don Was just adds icing to the cake. Love this.
It's great to see Brian back in the studio, and rather touching to hear him and Al Jardine harmonising as wonderfully as ever.
so amazing to see brian wilson happy throughout this whole video it just makes me happy
Such a GREAT tune. Enjoy watching this video, seeing Brian Wilson, Al Jardine collaborate with group of talented musicians, including Don Was and Jim Keltner. Always leaves me smiling...
I love hearing about Al Jardine and David Marks working together. That just warms my heart!

Yes, yes. yes, it absolutely is, its the best time.

This sounds like a modern day BB song. 100% Wilsonified
Wow! Such a heart piercing song for anything!!!
finally! and album where it's not Foskett making the high falsetto parts!!
You're right! No offense to Jeff, but his falsetto was way too overpowering and just not as pleasant sounding (see "Desert Drive") for example. Jeff would be good in a Beach Boys tribute band. ...well, actually he kinda is now. lol
Jeff will still be on the album, just not all of the songs like in the past.
I always thought that Jeffrey's falsettos sounded like a 14 years old teenager's mourn and was far to give tribute to the former Wilson's voice.
Matt Jardine's falsetto is better.
Foskett is ten times better than Matt. He strains to sing the parts while Foskett does them naturally.
Uno dei più grandi geni della musica :grazie Brian !
This is a really nice song. I still like Brian Wilson singing falsetto. The chorus brought back that Summer Beach Boys sound. I definitely approve.
Al Jardine still sounds almost the same.
It's the voice man. Who cares about a few wrinkles. Time may not be kind but hear the sound, look at the spirit. Talk about heart. For the love of music. The love of singing. How lucky to have such passion for something and to still be able to do it so beautifully. I envy them!
Agreed 100%
I'd like to see them do a united tour again. It would be SOLD out time after time!
I think it's "the right time" for all of them!
Fantastic music
Don Was is so smooth on that bass.
Brian Wilson never fails to make me Smile. This is going to be a great album! Brian and Al sound fantastic together! I can't wait to hear the rest of the album!

Mr Jardine, sir, this is magic-Al.

great song.
takes you back 50 years .... great job Brian. Al, and Mark ..
A masterful performance by Brian,Al and the rest of the group here..Great work!!
SMILE of THE YEAR!
Al - Always a great BB from then till now.
I've been playing this song a lot for a couple of years now. I like everything about it but David's contribution is the icing on the cake for me. And Brian is still making music

Brian has always made quality music since the 60s. And this song is really good!
Congratulations to Brian & Co.
Heard this on Chris Evans the other day, not been able to get it out of my head since! Easy listening
AWESOME!! Brian is great and Jardine and Marks add so much to it. Wonderful song.

Still fantastic artists!
0:18 AL jARDINE IS THE BEST SINGER IN THE WORLD TODAY
I love it! Such a beautiful melody and harmonies! Congratulations, Mr. Brian.
Good song ! Great Brian ! And drummer Jim keltner is a very happy man ! Since Imagine 1971 always with the greatest !
Great song...
Al Jardine's voice is as good as, or better than, it ever was. Amazing.
Absolutely incredible. What a great song!

Loving this song and Sail Away so much! Brian Wilson's skills= pure genius. So excited for the new album.. :)
I so liked it! I'd never listened to them. Beautiful song! I felt like dancing cheek to cheek
Awesome! Yes!!!!!!!!
