@@mugrad25 in private, she was the warmest heart there has ever been, big mama to everybody around; behind the stage: ruthless! Everything had to be just perfect or she could be evil and not charming at all. A big heart at home and on stage.

Mine too aloysius. Sometimes I have to break away from it for awhile or I go crazy, I can’t believe anybody could achieve this in singing. Just unbelievable. It makes me cry so much at times. God gave her all this to touch people and bring them such joy in living, by the opportunity of hearing her.

Again I have to say that, as Callas once saids, she was her only successor. This could be one of the best 8f not the best, Traviatta ever recorded. Callas, Caballé, Tebaldi, Sutherland, just to mention them, the world will never again and it is very sad had, such great singers, in the Opera context.

"Pas toujours touchant" n'est pas un commentaire objectif, puisque chacun ressent les choses de façon différente. En ce qui me concerne, c'est bien cette interprétation qui m'émeut plus que toute autre. Mais c'est mon ressenti et celui du voisin peut-être différent.
d'accord avec vous, c sublime de perfection. on ressent tout ce qu'exprime Violetta dans ces moments difficiles pour elle.
Et c un air que j'ai chanté extrêmement difficile.
et il est extrêmement dur à chanter si l'on veut garder à l'esprit le rôle.
Watch out! Caballe' is singing the too frequenlty cut second stanza, not the standard first one, where Violetta sings that her corpse will be interred in a barren, unmarked grave.

que es en estudio;en directo ya es otra cosa, oid lomismo en Covent Garden en el 72

Violetta is not a coloratura role! Need weight in the voice and Caballe is perfect!

Khalid, I'm a singer. I know this role and what it requires. The role needs weight in the voice. Don't judge the role by Sempre Libera alone.. Yes, you need coloratura, but having that alone won't help you sing the entire role.. Caballe had it all to sing this role well..
Iris Prcic I doubt that, you just said in the beginning it's "NOT" a coloratura role and that's what i am talking about, i'm not talking about whether Caballe was good in this role or not. i think in this role in particular coloratura is more important than weight, weight alone won't help you to sing the role with all the runs and trills as well, many sopranos (which i don't really like) sang this role with Lyric coloratura and it was good overall like Sills. i am not judging by this only aria i mentioned it as an example and don't forget that it's the most important aria in the whole role if a singer can't "perfect" it she don't really have to sing the role at all have a look at the score there are many trills and runs up and down the scale. Caballe unfortunately didn't had it, her voice is not agile enough nor colorful to this role, though she did this particular aria amazingly, her timbre was angelic and moving.

La giusta vocalità per questa interpretazione. Le note acute spinte fino alla fine della loro estensione poi ben smorzate nel canto a mezza voce e il canto a mezza voce stesso. Peccato per il recitato dove, per cause di registrazione, si sente poco.

I'm Italian and can clearly hear she's messing up all the lyrics, in opera the most important thing is expressiveness and what could you accomplish if you are expressing nothing?I think La Traviata is not a role for her
