4-Slot Primo Tenderizers are up there! Brooklyn Machine Works Shinburgers! EDIT: People installing Brakes! A little tip that made installing brakes so much easier. Wheel in, springs on, etc. Leave the Springs loose, pull the Cable through all the way until the brake pads are on the rim, tighten it up. THEN Tension the Springs to pull the Pads away from the Rim. It will almost certainly be too tight, pair of pliers, hold the cable a couple mm's away from the Cable Hanger & let off that couple mm & tighten up. Works great with set ups that don't have adjust on the Levers etc.
My build from 1998 is a Standard Tao with SS cranks, kink oversized sprocket and the kink motorcycle chain, Hoffman chocolate bars and Alex rims. Thing is a tank.
I love seeing the S.O.B. !! I actually bought one when they first came out. It was the white version and within a week the paint was literally falling off and DK didn't give two shits!
That specific DK was a dream bike when I was 15. I was gifted for Christmas a Specialized 415 instead. Loved that Specialized! BMX bikes were just made better in my opinion right around Y2K.
Trails buddy of mine has had the same setup since 2004 (he only rides like once a year). Dirtbike frame, all S&M/Profile parts. It feels lighter than my current era top end street setup 26/27lb.
I learned handrails on that frame. I also bent and broke handrails with that frame running a motorcycle chain. Cant tell if those are the profile SS cranks?
That bike is Epic Old school ripper.. Colin was a Awsome BMX Stunt Rider legend we remember all the Good Ol days we Rode to live And had our bikes for Freedom from everyday life..
My dad has the DK stem you are looking for. The black anodizing on the stem is a little faded but in mint condition otherwise. We can send it out from chicago if you still need it.
Love that bike! As far as the weight that sounds about right. My Schwinn Hydramatic Comp with front brakes, Alex triple walls, profile blackjack 45T, and KMC 415 HD chain is just under 43lbs
Man idk how I missed this one. Since I’m subscribed but I’m getting new wheels delivers for my SOB tomorrow and I’m so excited for it. Gonna weight it nice they’re on
Chainstay brakes work “better” because they flex into the frame when stopping due to the direction the wheel is spinning, seat stay brakes flex away from the frame so they flex more, flex is lost braking power. Does it actually matter? No not really, but brake nerds (I’m one of you, not derogatory) will do everything they can to optimize them.
i wonder if it was as heavy as my mrria pro. with double wall big city rims with 14mm axles but i had the meganuke sprocket with that big motorcycle type chain. i forget the name of it. but it was the biggest chain in bmx. i had 4 pegs. 2 brakes. huge stem.the big mirra seat. it was a solid 40 pounds. i had the primo meat tenderizors pedals. they are huge like those dk iron cross pedals. my pegs were kink pegs that were so so heavy. i had them on one side and the dk pipe bombs on the other side. i still rock the dirty harry level. and i think they only had a rear version so i had one flipped upside down for my front brake. i did street. and flatland on the same tank lol it is not 40 pounds as my mirra pro frame was beefier. dropouts were bigger. my stem was bigger. his rims were heavier as they look like alex triple walls. but the meganuke sprocket was heavier. my chain was the biggest ever made. i had 2 sets of heavy pegs.kink and dk pipe bomb and i had 2 brakes. my mirra seat was bigger and my bike was 40 pounds.
My mid schools are in the same 33-34 lbs weight range. Seems legit. Still very heavy for a bike meant to fly but peeps were tired of 80s frames snapping.
@@nitroguy30 The overbuilt mid schools cracked instead. Everyone thought "bad batch of frames" but it turned out to be the lack of flex from the frame and the burly parts of the day.
Damn I actually forgot I had an s.o.b. for s little while. I don't even remember selling or trading it. I had some heavy as bikes back in those days i think my FBM may have been my heaviest frame. That bike is clean as hell though. Side note I'm on the hunt for a primo J lever if anyone has one for sale. I may know where an OG dk stem is too I'll find out if it's still around.
The irony is this frame was TOO stiff. In combination with the burly parts of the day, absolutely nothing flexed leading to a stress fracture at the mono seat stay.
those threadless brake pads are the worst. and when you go to tighten them fully they just move lol. half the time i have to put channel locks on the brake pad and hold it in place while tightening
33lbs is a good bit actually. Most new bikes are like 23ish lbs these days. That means that old school bike weighs 10lbs more than a new school bike. That's a lot when talking about bikes. A whole lot. I could see it only being 33 lbs but feeling like more. The young guy was on the money.
Would love to hear the extender version of how Phu got into BMX and the story behind opening a store ASAP Alfredo 🥳
That’s a solid idea!
I second tht I've learned daym near everything I know from you guys !
Primo Tendorizers are my favorite.
This guy is the master Yoda of the bmx world. Or the bmx Jesus since he's always wearing sandals 😂
If phu can’t fix it……
No one can 😂
Hahaha the bmx messiah

Bringing me back to the day !! Thanks for filming, keep up the good work, excellent build.
I have those iron cross pedals and the magnesium versions on my 04/05 diamondback.
Still on the prowl for a t-1 barcode frame from the same era
He's the best.Good to see the old school legends still passionate about BMX ! Wish we had a guy like him in NZ.Theyre all Mountain Bike guys here.
19:18 I would say about 38 lbs especially with those super e rims 🚲💨
So happy each times you upload a video , im huge fan of you guys , keep doing your great work.
3:10 The odyssey shark bite pedals scarred my shins for life 🚲💨
I once got a shinner from those and I thought I was going to lose my leg to gangrene.
I love seeing the S.O.B. !! I actually bought one when they first came out. It was the white version and within a week the paint was literally falling off and DK didn't give two shits!
About time Phu been waiting a while for you. EPIC BMX love you... and the whole crew
Nice job on the breaks
Phu Vu the man! great video!

I'm with you. I'd go with the barrel adjuster.
Odyssey triple trap pedals, extra barrel adjuster is very nice tip
The pedal feels heavier because its 1 pound in 4sq in as opposed to 2lbs over a much larger area. Weight distribution. Great vid!
What a perfect build!
Trails buddy of mine has had the same setup since 2004 (he only rides like once a year). Dirtbike frame, all S&M/Profile parts. It feels lighter than my current era top end street setup 26/27lb.
It's all about the little details.
I rode the profile ss cranks with the iron cross pedals and sprocket on an old haro frame, it’s 40 plus pounds 😂
I learned handrails on that frame. I also bent and broke handrails with that frame running a motorcycle chain. Cant tell if those are the profile SS cranks?
I still have a set of Iron Cross pedals. Those things are tough.
✅
Phu > Phó 👊🏾🚲🏁🎤

Dk iorn cross, Brooklyn machine works shin burger, odyssey tripple traps. Gnarly pedals!
My dad has the DK stem you are looking for. The black anodizing on the stem is a little faded but in mint condition otherwise. We can send it out from chicago if you still need it.
I LOVE YOU PHU❤
Ahh I don't miss those old triple walls 😅
I have those pedals on my GT tour, but I also have crupi bear traps on my Torker.
Favorite man’s
Yes!

I still run my dirty brake lever 😂
I think I may have the stem you are looking for. Its off a General Lee I have. It's Black and FRONT LOAD tho.

Are those Epic “shapes” T-shirts available? I checked Insta but didnt see anything. Love all the videos..

The 80s perigrine aluminum body pedals
The most outrageous pedal has to be the Pinnd CS2+.
Epic needs a youtube plaque on the wall
I have front and rear 990 and pegs and mine weighs about 36. I also have primo mustache bars. For those that don't know they were heavy.
I have a bike that needs to be put together. I'll bring it in once I order all of the parts. If you know how to get decals for it, that'd be great!
I think it's 33lbs....My 98' all original Mongoose Rogue is 37lbs. Luv the vid!
I have the sunday darkwave LHD 2023 model complete bike. Can you please tell me what park tool spoke wrench i need?
Thank you, Brandon 😇
One day when you wake up less lazy use hairspray on them grips. They just slide on. Added bonus is out also acts like a glue. Kinda.
I always use hair spray with grips that are not lock on. Hairspray when it dries will make a non lockout grip lockout when it dires PERIOD.
@@sebikelifeusvetparatrooper Hairspray to put them on. A bit of rubbing alcohol to take them off.
@PabloGonzalez-hv3td Thanks for the tip I have always sprayed hairspray to take them off too🧐. Time for me to put the phone down and ride😃.
primo tenderizer for sure
😍😍😍

One piece cranks- heavy as hell
not really outrageous, but i love Haro Fusion pedals
The handlebars I will put 11 “old school. My back is now awful for that.
1:07 whats up with those pedals? 🤔
Nice bike hi

Hi Alfredo, I'm new here and could use some help with a project, can I send you a photo of it somehow? it's an early quadangle. Thanks!
It's 15kg +/-. I remember riding my Haro Revo in 2001 and it was 15kg flat.
those threadless brake pads are the worst. and when you go to tighten them fully they just move lol. half the time i have to put channel locks on the brake pad and hold it in place while tightening
I have a 2002 DK GENERAL LEE right now and its only 2lbs lighter than the S.O.B.

Yeah weight seams right, remember we used to run 4 steel pegs, a gyro and front brakes. A light weight set up just rear brakes and 2 steel pegs.
All my frames are made to take the barrel adjuster.
Phu makes them skin cats in the back ally. Meow.
Yo phu is it possible to put 28 teeth and the rear 16 on a bmx bike
Plz reply
You can do what you want as long as it fits.
Ok thank you
You're going to be spinning like a hamster wheel. 😂
What
Primo super tenderizer.
this makes me want to rebuild my 2003 wethepeople primate frame now. someone sell me a 13t rear wheel
primo supers over the iron cross any day
