AC digital gauges much more accurate to 0.1 of a psi that you can never see with analog gauges

- High-pressure nitrogen indicate test what you can see with digital gauges. You may not have any chance whatsoever to see with analog gauges.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge
I want to move into a set of these digital Fieldpiece gauges soon as I'm able, not only for the accuracy but the fact that you can select a larger variety of refrigerants they will work with, plus they allow you to see superheat and subcooling in a glance using the temp clamps which is important to me since I also do residential and commercial HVAC. Way before I learned HVAC, I was a scuba diver and that's where I learned the different laws pertaining to gasses and their relationship to temperatures. Charles's law says exactly what you were explaining about pressures being directly proportional to temperatures and visa versa. This one law is so critical to understand because it is what makes refrigeration even possible. Thanks for the video

I say it every time. Thanks master tech Tom, for taking your time and explaining pure gold information. We can't even see 1.00 psi changes on analog gauges. I need that tool with the 3 ports just for cars.

The quality of modern gauges and speed of the refrigerant analysers are really amazing. I haven't done any HVAC work professionally for almost 20 years but anyone doing it these days should be using these digital gauges or they are refusing to keep with the times and probably providing a sub-par service.
I must admit though that I still have my old set of analogue gauges plus a digital micron meter but it's only for doing my own stuff and occasionally helping diagnose friends or families equipment probably 3 or 4 times in the last decade.. maybe I'll eventually upgrade to a fully digital set in the future. (by the way as you know the digital micron gauge itself is a game changer when it comes to understanding ultimate achieved vacuum, residual moisture, micro leaks etc.)
These newer gauges though take that ability to see what's going on with the system way further than just vacuum, being able to do a pre set high pressure leak test, which like you said you'd never see say a 1 psi drop over 30 mins on an analogue set.
Anyone doing this for a living or regularly working on HVAC will come across slow leaks that you'd not see on an analogue set unless you were prepared to spend many hours of your day leaving the gauges hooked up.. the ability to catch even just one of these and not have to come back in a week or two when it fails again pays for the price of the gauges with the saved labour and good reputation.
Time is money and call backs are a nightmare.. I can't see why anyone doing this for a living would want to use analogue gauges anymore.

You have been helping me critically think more than I used to when I'm diagnosing A/C problem with vehicles. I'm going to purchase the tool you are using , way more detailed information to gather and use when assessing cooling performance. I've shared this with some co-workers who are more serious about actually fixing cars and not shooting parts at it. Thank you very much for sharing. And stay away from those jèrk off cans 😂😂😂
@@DooMHaMMeR247 thank you very much much.

yes their is way more to know than i thought. keep learning and dropping toms name in some other ac utubers keep preaching so the word will spread and help as many as u can

Thanks! I just got that manifold gauge set from Tru tech tools, excited to try them out!
@@advancedleveldiagnostics there’s a learning curve with the micron gauge. It’s going to make you frustrated and make you think everything is leaking. 🤭

glad to see u came here i watch you a lot also, please do some ac on ur channel the right way maybe we can teach the others. its gona take guys like you to help, they want listen to me
my challenge to the commenters, please see if you can find a utuber that does auto ac work at toms level. i bet you cant. but if you do please let us no im not wanting to take from this channel by no means. the bet is i dont think you will. as u watch this man and then u no how it should be done and compare to those guys. and if u comment my next bet they will respond been doin it this way for 20yrs no need to change . im glad some of u want to rise to the next level. i was that 20 yr guy but no more.

@@coldfinger459sub0 yep 67 yoa. the first good spark was in 1986 when i got my first lab scope and learned how important it was . now in 2024 guys still dont want to get one and learn. i think the trend on ac is gona be this way
