- IK Multimedia's ToneX app for iPad and iPhone has landed and within minutes of downloading I had a very credible Brian May guitar tone.
The ingredients were a real treble booster and some extra apps:
AUM Mixer

FAC Chorus
apps.apple.com/us/app/fac-cho...
Impulsation
apps.apple.com/ie/app/impulsa...
Dude! This is awesome. I’m a massive Queen nutcase and huge iOS music fan. Awesome to see a guitarist talking about Tone X, AUM and Brian May. Very cool.
I was in a studio last week making my own models. Wait till you hear those!
Name pedal? Grazie
Congrats on being the first to review it on YT!
I installed it first thing this morning. Let's just say I didn't get much work done today 😁
I also found that the tones were as close to 100% of the PC/Mac version as I could detect. And as soon as I logged in on my iPhone, all my licensed models showed up. It's also incredibly stable. Where Amplitube iOS would sketch out on me at least twice a day, ToneX iOS was rock stable.
I've had the same experience. What I found really interesting is how little DSP it took up too as well as being very stable. This was also a very difficult video to make because I just wanted to play with the thing! 🤣
Incredible. It don’t hurt that you got him in your bones.
Brilliant video Thomas
Why are my eyebrows coloured on camera but largely white in real life? 🤔
@@ThomasBrunkard 🤣
Sweeeeeet Thomas! The intro licks were really close to BMs 70s lead tones in the studio
And all off an iPhone! Tech these days is awesome!
@@ThomasBrunkard indeed!!!
Great video, and thank you for the review! are all the purchase made on Mac also available on iPad? or do you have to make a separate purchases on the App Store to?
You have to buy a licence on the IK Multimedia website. I sprang for the top tier because I wanted the Vox stuff at launch. Hopefully, and as more amps get modelled professionally by users, the middle tier will be much more useful or they come up with a way to sell the additional packs.
Wowow !!!!
Starlicks - 1983 almost 40 years ago!
It’s crazy. It’s a pity nobody has convinced him to do something like that since.
@@ThomasBrunkard Yeah, no kidding. My friend had the record at the time, it was out before compact discs were common place.
I bought the Star licks video in 1983..Still got it..
Great video!
I got the AUM working and tested MIDI just using the keyboard but when I try to do the preset changes, I don’t see the preset it just says FACTORY, do you have any idea how to make the presets show so I can select one to assigned to a keyboard note for example
Thanks in advance😊
I use it like you I apogee jam plus with iPad!!! Is it normal that when I lower the volume of the iPad the volume of tonex also lowers? Shouldn't he command everything I apogee jam? When I use the Mac with UAD apollo, the volume of the Mac is excluded and everything is controlled from the card

great video. however the in-app purchase quite expensive esp the tonex max. is it worth? please advice thank you.
The worth of it depends how much use you're going to get out of it. I think it is worth it for me as it gives me access to some great Vox amps which are key to my work as well as other ones but if you're chasing one sound, the price might be a bit steep and, in time, models that you need might become available separately.
@@ThomasBrunkard thank you
Will you share some captures of your treble booster?
I will once I’m happy with it. Not there yet and haven’t been spending time on it. Top priority for me has been getting the ToneX captures into my live rig. Nearly there…!
@@ThomasBrunkard looking forward to this release.
Hi, great video, I have the tonex on the iPad mini... But if I wanted to buy presets from external sites I should use the Mac....... But then how do I transfer them to iPad?
Presently, you can't add profiles to the iPad version that are not available on Tone.Net I'm afraid. I did not sell mine for this reason so I funded them by a Kickstarter campaign. There are so many great profiles for free on Tone.Net that I think you can find an alternative in most cases.
@@ThomasBrunkard sospettavo fosse così!! Grazie mille!!! Hai qualche utente che fa profili di qualità da suggerirmi??
Grazie ☺️
@@cinocino9342 ¿Qué tipo de sonido te gusta?
@@ThomasBrunkard jcm800, plexi, vox, mesa mark ll!! Vintage sound!!
@@cinocino9342 For Vox like Brian May (really loud and heavy) search for me (ThomasBrunkard). For other Vox sounds try Tone Junkie TV or MT Studios. For Marshall and Mesa check out TMS Profiles - he's a pal of my mine in Dublin and does great work.
Peavey Bandit and a Zoom pedal are your only men.
