Thanks Mopar Joe,for sharing where you got the new leaf springs. That very same job you're doing is absolutely on my "To Do" list (just as soon as i can raise the $ ).

@@JustMoparJoe I’ve been thinking, while I am refreshing my old Demon, I would like to do something like this. It looks easier to apply than POR. I like the looks, in between glossy & satin. Has a nice clean look, not heavy coated paint. Guess I need to buy a bunch of wire wheels now. Thx Joe 👍

Nice 😁. Question, the front shackles, I noticed the passenger/driver side leaf to shackle bolts. I always thought the bolt head was on inside to not allow it to walk out if the nut fell off. I could be wrong
@@JustMoparJoe no worries. When I pulled mine out the bolts were opposite direction. I know their castle nuts so it would be pretty tough for them to loosen up
Great video, Joe! I'd re-use the "u" bolts for the rear too or get new ones. Aftermarket I'd throw those away. Everyone has a opinion on how to but the whole rear and springs together but in the end, it's what works and works for ya. If the owner doesn't like the car, I'm sure I'd take it off his hands.

This is one of the videos ive been really excited to see and you definitely delivered! I was super skeptical about that rust paint on the housing but you totally sold me now. That looks super good. One of the things I mock the hell out of is guys who do a great paint job, put on nice wheels and tires, build a sick engine/trans combo, and then leave the springs/axle all crusty looking like crap. Amazing work as always dude! I do have a question and/or request though. Have you done or plan to try to do any reconditioning of parts with acid dip or electrolysis? Ive been considering giving it a try myself with my front suspension parts, especially the springs and control arms. And now covering it with that rust paint you use.
Thanks CJM. I haven’t used the electrolysis. I believe rust oleum makes a gel that will turn the rusty stuff black. Then you rinse and can paint it. I’ve used the permatex rust converter before in areas, then sanded, primed and painted over it. The Devil is definitely in the details.
Joe let me know if you ever want an expense paid trip out to San Diego. If you were here my car would be running and driving beautifully in a few days. Me it will probably be a few more months

I would not re-use those old u-bolts. I have custom 5/8 u-bolts made up at local spring shop, I love overkill. A trick I learned with cleaning things up is to spray the rusty stuff with diluted muriatic acid, then pressure wash after 10 or 15 min. all the rust will come off and there will be no need for wire wheel.
Thanks Thomas. He wants to drive this car home at 75-85 mph. I know when they first came out, interstates were just becoming a thing. I like the 2.76 in my challenger currently, but I do like driving over 75 a lot. As far as I know, he will keep the short 205 tires on here.
I haven’t torqued them yet. I used the air wrench and gave them some solid ugga Duggas. I will check them after the first drive when I recheck the torque converter bolts and u joint straps.
Well you could take a hammer and "alter" the roll over on the new bolts. Plus it never a good idea to re-use U-bolts. Length easy with a death wheel. And I tend to lean more to the DANA's, 60's that is and of course the Shur grip. But a little paint n shine at least you can tell someone did something.
