Just to share, I'm a Language and Literature teacher and I used your song as a motivation for our lesson about writing mechanics. My students loved it. ❤
Lyrics are great, song even more so. But can I share my opinion regarding being grammar Nazis? I myself am triggered when people spell "stuffs" incorrectly and commit grammatical crimes but I try and let it slide (it's really hard tbh) just bc I know we're Filipinos and it's not really our fault that we were colonized by Americans before, therefore changing our cultural norm regarding language, now being "Ang hindi nakapagsasalita at nakaiintindi ng wikang ingles ay bobo" which shouldn't be the case. But that's just me, I still enjoyed the music and writing, it was real clever. No hate, just gave an opinion.
Ang punto niya, kung gagamit ka lang namn pala ng Ingles aba ayusin mo na lang sana (lalo na't kung haharot ka). At big deal yung pino-point out niya pagdating sa mga signage. Kung di man kaya, mag-Tagalog na lang aba.

Just a reflection: I really don't know why some Filipinos are okay for speaking or writing their any native Philippine languages (Tagalog, Cebuano, Ilocano, Bicolano, Hiligaynon, Waray, Maranao, Sambal, Ibanag, Pangasinan, Yakan, Kapampangan, Maguindanao, etc.) in a bastardized or corrupted form (it will take some time on how to define a bastardized/corruptued variety as it is). I'm not referring to the informal or colloquial variant of that certain language just for clarification. Is it because some Philippine languages are not yet standardized that's why its orthography, phonology or grammar have a lots of variations that's why its inconsistencies are tolerated? It wil be plenty to give examples here, and I might have provided a wrong example, that's why I prefer not to give examples yet. But if it's English, some Filipinos will become a Grammar Nazi, like extremely imitating General American Accent/Grammar and/or Received Pronunciation to the point of not sounding natural to other people's ears. I haven't encountered any Filipino people who are strictly correcting the non-native speakers' mistakes regarding the corrector's native Philippine language in a Grammar Nazi way.
ongbakbuang I'm from the Bicol region (dialect - Bicolano). Idk but if you've tried talking to different Bicolanos, you'll notice that the words that we use actually differ from one another. For example: someone from Sorsogon (a part of Bicol region) speaks differently from someone from Legazpi (also a part of Bicol region) & so with all the other Bicolanos coming from the different cities/provinces of the Bicol region. Yes, our dialect is generally called "Bicol" but the variations/differences among the way we speak is highly notice-able. Even our accents differ from one another. However, the differences I'm talking about may just be a change in one letter or just a change in the syllabication whatever. Example (Tagalog: Oo.) From Sorsogon: Amu. From Legazpi: Mao. So yeah... Maybe some people see it as a grammatical error or what but it's just how it is. We can't really correct them as tbh someone from Sorsogon isn't actually THAT familiar with the words spoken by someone from Legazpi.
@@Alexandrine-ti3uf just to clarify, Bikol is a language not a dialect. We have more than a hundred languages in Ph. 🙋♀️ Bikolana here as well. And there are also different languages within Bicol. Like Masbateño/ Minasbate, Bikol-Naga, Bikol-Legazpi, Buínën, etc.
@@Alexandrine-ti3uf 200% sure since it has been discused by professors in UP. And I am a part of an organization that aims to conserve languages sa area namin. 10 recorded languages with Mount Iriga Agta language being extinct. Tapos 12 dialects. "Bicol (Bikol) is a language spoken by people in the Bicol Region on southeastern Luzon in the Philippines. It was highly influenced by the Spanish language." That's literally the first thing that pops up if you entered "bikol language dialect" in google.
@ongbakbuang sa case ko lang po ah, di po namin kayang i-correct mga nagkakamali sa language namin kasi even po kaming mga native speakers ay di alam kung ano ang tamang grammar or spelling or pronunciation para dyan. Lalo na po in written form kasi mahirap pong tandaan proper spelling. Upuan samin is əwâan/ëwâan. But we just call it as upuan kasi it's easier to spell and pronounce.

[Verse 1]
See I like a boy - cute and nice and tall
But there’s one problem (Guess what?)
He couldn’t spell right at all
And I know that’s not the end all-be-all
But it really kinda blows
Poor guy doesn’t even like books (I know!)
And sometimes, it shows
[Pre-Chorus]
My momma told me it’s unwise
To like a boy who is just nice
Who couldn’t put apostrophe s's
On his possessives
And don’t look at me when I look at you
Whenever you say “stuffs” (Stuffs!)
‘Cause that’s my cue (RETCH!)
[Chorus]
I’m not a nazi
I just care about good grammar
Hey paparazzi (okay)
I just said that ‘cause it rhymed
But don’t you dare commit a grammar crime on me
[Verse 2]
You type “lose” with one o if you’re losing your mind
And two O’s for describing
Bowel movements of any kind
You see “your” and “you’re”
They're two, two different things, baby
It’s YOUR problem YOU’RE confused
But I’mma help you out with the words you use, yeah
[Pre-Chorus]
My momma told me it’s unwise to like a boy who is just nice
Who couldn’t put apostrophes’s on his possessives
And don’t look at me when I look at you
Whenever you say “stuffs” (Stuffs!)
‘Cause that’s my cue (RETCH!)
[Chorus]
I’m not a nazi- I just care about good grammar
Hey paparazzi (okay), I just said that ‘cause it rhymed
But don’t you dare commit a grammar crime on me
[Solo]
[Bridge]
I suggest you brush up on your subject-verb agreement
If we keep this up, it’s gonna be a commitment
You never say “Dogs barks” - you just say “bark”
Pay a bit of attention we’re gonna take it to the park
Double negatives and all its relatives
Don’t sound no good if it ain’t in a rap song
I’m gonna break it down to you
I hate it when you say “furnitures”
When you mean “pieces of furniture”
Let the plural be pluralized
The English language doesn’t deserve to be compromised
It’s TO to direct, TOO for “too much”, TWO is a number
Learn it, else I’ll be holding a grudge
THERE’S two baby cubs
And THEIR momma lion
And THEY’RE together it’s as clear as day
If you’re debating "if I was” versus “If I were”, I say
Who would you believe more?
Bieber or Beyonce
[Chorus]
I’m not a nazi - I just care about good grammar
Hey paparazzi (okay), I just said that ‘cause it rhymed
But don’t you dare commit a grammar crime on me
I’m not a nazi - I just care about good grammar
Hey paparazzi (okay), I just said that ‘cause it rhymed
But don’t you dare commit a grammar crime on me

I only discovered this song last Sunday in a karaoke song list. I couldn't tell you how much this song means to a fellow Grammar Nazi! 😍

Example (Tagalog: Oo.)
From Sorsogon: Amu.
@@randominternetcitizen I'm a hundred and ten percent sure that it's a dialect but alright, if you say so lmao
Kaka-subscribe ko lang. Ang ganda ng kanta nyo.
Bihira lang ako makakita ng MV (dito sa pilipinas) na talagang nag-effort ng bongga.
