      You know how Harley trikes and touring two wheelers can be set up to pull trailers? I wonder if a gimbal hitch could be applied to the ESTREAM and with its following assist allow a Harley to tow it? Just a thought!

    Great video! To put things into perspective, our Airstream is not yet 20 years old. It was delivered with a cassette radio and 3 land-line phone jacks. How times have changed! We're not yet sold on the whole EV concept but the tail lights are wicked cool.

    If airstream wants to massively increase revenue, they need to accelerate this to market.

    Appreciate bringing this technology to us. Could not make the show this year Daugther was married. But we shot down to Boyds, in Key West. Wife was exhausted and wanted a break lol Don't own an Airstream. Taking delivery of a Grand Design 22 ft but the difference I can pay for it in full lol . I see more TT's electric motor driven TT's in another 5 to 8 yrs. That new electric Airstream TT will be easily over $80k which is still affordable for its technology. The problem i see we need power stations that can handle a TT & tow vehicle at the same time.

    Backing up is a quick learn. If you don't know by now, then perhaps you might want to look at a Class B. I mean seriously, if you have been RV'ing frequently, backing up should not be an issue. Where the E-stream would come in handy for this feature is maneuvering it around in a tight space such as my garage or like the rep said, to tweak it a bit in a camp spot to get the best view or perhaps if you were not paying attention to the distance of the hook-up distance.

    I love the idea of the ESTREAM. I only concerns are I would want it in a larger trailer and I'm also concerned of the size of the caster steering wheel at the hitch digging into soft muddy ground and getting stuck just like a tail dragger aircraft does in soft ground. I think that wheel should be beefed up and more able to handle soft muddy ground or sand situations like an ATV type tire. Just my thoughts. God bless you two, plus one or more!

      An interesting idea. But might be able to power the self park, but needs a higher voltage battery pack to do so while towing. Not much of an advantage by that point, particularly as Airstream does not typically have that much payload available for their trailers. But may be something to use the tow vehicles pack and have the trailer brakes be regenative to put back into the battery and provide some extra torque when going to a slow speed, low traction incline.

  • @candacewortham8500

      I don't think there are many caravans sold in Europe without a mover. They have been around for years. Personally I just figured the us didn't need them since the campsite pitches all seem to be designed to be easily backed in to. In Europe the pitches are very different and often impossible to get in to right just with the car. So it's old fashioned pushing by hand or a mover.

    • @Wanderlocal
      @Wanderlocal  2 роки тому

      Goth, great question. There’s no doubt that the elevation should/will impact range. We’d have to know the mass (still a concept vehicle), elevation changes, % grades and a few other metrics to calculate an average. Now I’m (Daniel) going to be curious. 🧐

    • @goththicus
      @goththicus 2 роки тому

      Right. All those factors you mentioned will have to be calculated. Imagine if you had to plan your RVing around charging stations, whereas today you can get up and go. Personally, I still think we’re a long way from RV EVs as opposed to EV vehicles that are more conducive to city/suburbia lifestyles. Still Thor’s concept EV Van is quiet impressive.

      @@goththicus As an ev owner who traveled on a 28 hour road trip.. driving hours only counted.. What we did was give ourselves more battery charge then required at our stops and we usually stopped every 2 hours to charge a bit just because not only elevations but traffic slow downs detours it's all a possibility but really sometimes 1.5 driving we wanted to stop stretch our legs grab a bite or get our kids situated, And it would only mean like 10-20 min charging when it wasn't a long stretch. Long enough to go to the bathroom and all. If your towing an electric ⚡️ beast and using your tesla. you could easily park both of em to hook ups go run in get some yummy 🤤 chicken or what ever. and go. now for the ev motor home? that would be no problem charging. We maybe spent 150 dollars on charging our vehicle for a 9 day road trip with lots of touring around. way cheaper than what gasoline would have cost.

    What I can’t understand is this, we have wind turbines to generate power with Wind, and provide that power to electric customer, but here we are stuck charging a RV and not using the kinetic energy of the wheels to recharge the batteries sufficiently ( same general principal of the wind turbine). We should have master the solar panel technology (more than 50 years in development) that can produce recharging capabilities sufficiently to sustain the RV indefinitely. But here we are still not producing an autonomous system that can use these two system in conjunction to provide enough energy to completely be 100% recharge free (connecting the RV to a source). This technology should have been self sustaining years ago, we have the technology, but the industry is dragging purposefully all these advancements to provide the oil industries the opportunity to make them indispensable and still keep them in business. In the military we use diversion to distract the enemy from the real objective, like so, we are distracted so we don’t see the real bottom line… every time you use a charging station at home, stations around the city etc. you are using power that is produce from oil, thus keeping the oil industry in business and not eliminating fossil fuels like they pretend. Please stop the gimmicks and give us an autonomous system that does not depend on oil, rather on proven technology of self reliance.

      Because you're talkin about a travel trailer camping trailer. People sometimes live in them year-round yeah and make them their tiny homes but unless you're doing that and you're going to be stationary a lot of things are talking about or not feasible. What's it called I was trying to say it's on the dark days when you're not getting enough light for your roof type strip remember that it's also a hybrid of an RV and it can take power from your camping ground and or some type of electrical.. To build your battery back up without solar. But I'm giving you the benefit of a doubt that you already know that stuff I'm just saying for people that don't understand it's intuitive that their system that they created was just balanced. The appliances are there to run off of the battery or per month off the electric the machine itself will do it for you if you don't remember how to do it. A good lot of airstreams have defaults in other words, can you bypass them yes. But I love that about it good. I've even seen some RV's and campers that actually build up hot water as you drive down the road ,that is so cool.

    Maybe this will create an abundant supply of airstreams until this comes out… adding $75-80k to the existing price, probably not.

      BlackhawkPilot - great point! Hopefully, these don't turn out like most concept vehicles at car shows where nothing innovative makes it to the production version once everything is stripped away. We loved the privacy glass too, but would imagine that it's a super expensive addition. L+D

    Electric airstream just sounds a lot of lazy and unskilled driving. I think it’s a lost in experience with camping

    Aluminum body stitched with rivets is a horrible design. Outdated concept.

      Joe, it definitely isn’t everyone’s cup of tea and does require the use of a rivet gun to replace them when they occasionally pop out. L+D
