As an Airstream sales rep, at the longest running Airstream dealer in the world, I am so proud of this concept! Airstream will always be better and better! Can't wait for ESTREAM ADVENTURES! Keep the great reporting! What a great, spirited couple you are! ❤
You know how Harley trikes and touring two wheelers can be set up to pull trailers? I wonder if a gimbal hitch could be applied to the ESTREAM and with its following assist allow a Harley to tow it? Just a thought!
Great video! To put things into perspective, our Airstream is not yet 20 years old. It was delivered with a cassette radio and 3 land-line phone jacks. How times have changed! We're not yet sold on the whole EV concept but the tail lights are wicked cool.
Okay, the EStream blew my mind!! But, Lauren is the true show stopper in that beautiful braid and sundress!!! You're rockin' this pregnancy, Gorgeous!!
This eStream cannot come any quicker. I was planning to pair a Flying Cloud 23F with a Tesla, this new eStream opens up so many options. If airstream wants to massively increase revenue, they need to accelerate this to market.
LOVE this!!! Oh my gosh, as we’re watching, when you guys asked Alexa questions, our Alexa responded too 🤣 Love meeting you guys these past two weeks, at the RV show & the conference 💝
🤣 It was so good meeting y’all too! I’m sure o adventures will cross paths again soon. Oh, and the Alexa thing got us too! We edit video with headphones, so didn’t catch it until it had already posted. 🤣 L+D
Appreciate bringing this technology to us. Could not make the show this year Daugther was married. But we shot down to Boyds, in Key West. Wife was exhausted and wanted a break lol Don't own an Airstream. Taking delivery of a Grand Design 22 ft but the difference I can pay for it in full lol . I see more TT's electric motor driven TT's in another 5 to 8 yrs. That new electric Airstream TT will be easily over $80k which is still affordable for its technology. The problem i see we need power stations that can handle a TT & tow vehicle at the same time.
too small for me. would love the globetrotter 25' twin beds for a layout! love the back lights. the "fun decor" is a bit garish for me. love the concept! rush to production please - a 25 foot model please!
It’s all wonderful until you find yourself a little bit to far away from a charging station with the class B. I will say that some of those features are fantastic, the windows able to cloud over at a touch of a button is great! Alexa being onboard is going to be a boon to camping! We were there and saw the demonstration and that airstream parking itself by your iPad was, IS going to be a marriage saver!
Backing up is a quick learn. If you don't know by now, then perhaps you might want to look at a Class B. I mean seriously, if you have been RV'ing frequently, backing up should not be an issue. Where the E-stream would come in handy for this feature is maneuvering it around in a tight space such as my garage or like the rep said, to tweak it a bit in a camp spot to get the best view or perhaps if you were not paying attention to the distance of the hook-up distance.
Right, John! This is some pretty cool technology. We can’t wait to see how the RV industry as a whole evolves to adapt to this changing technology. L+D
I love the idea of the ESTREAM. I only concerns are I would want it in a larger trailer and I'm also concerned of the size of the caster steering wheel at the hitch digging into soft muddy ground and getting stuck just like a tail dragger aircraft does in soft ground. I think that wheel should be beefed up and more able to handle soft muddy ground or sand situations like an ATV type tire. Just my thoughts. God bless you two, plus one or more!
I told my husband we should trade in our trailer and get one. Even seasoned backeruppers, we still sometimes can't move the Jeep at the right angle, etc. And, um, it's probably cheaper than a divorce, right?
🤣 We agree! This’ll save a few marriages AND it’s probably cheaper. Having the motorized options open a lot of possibilities. Just think - if you don’t like the spot, you can move it without the worry of having to hitch up! It’s amazing! Lauren + Daniel
I wonder if Thor/Airstream is planning to develop a kit that would enable existing owners to retrofit the powered axle /battery pack to their trailers. Hope so!
An interesting idea. But might be able to power the self park, but needs a higher voltage battery pack to do so while towing. Not much of an advantage by that point, particularly as Airstream does not typically have that much payload available for their trailers. But may be something to use the tow vehicles pack and have the trailer brakes be regenative to put back into the battery and provide some extra torque when going to a slow speed, low traction incline.
Great for Airstream to add this technology but the remote driving capability is something already available. I saw it on an Alto camper, made in Canada.
I don't think there are many caravans sold in Europe without a mover. They have been around for years. Personally I just figured the us didn't need them since the campsite pitches all seem to be designed to be easily backed in to. In Europe the pitches are very different and often impossible to get in to right just with the car. So it's old fashioned pushing by hand or a mover.
Gene Seminole RANGER - great questions! We'll be sure to post another video as soon as we have more details from the Airstream team. They did say that the distance is still up in the air. That'll depend on the final specs for the production version. Until then, we'll have to wait and see what they ultimately release to the public! Lauren + Daniel
Goth, great question. There’s no doubt that the elevation should/will impact range. We’d have to know the mass (still a concept vehicle), elevation changes, % grades and a few other metrics to calculate an average. Now I’m (Daniel) going to be curious. 🧐
Right. All those factors you mentioned will have to be calculated. Imagine if you had to plan your RVing around charging stations, whereas today you can get up and go. Personally, I still think we’re a long way from RV EVs as opposed to EV vehicles that are more conducive to city/suburbia lifestyles. Still Thor’s concept EV Van is quiet impressive.
@@goththicus As an ev owner who traveled on a 28 hour road trip.. driving hours only counted..
