- In this final episode of 2022 we set about installing a pair of Mk6 VW Golf GTD seats into the camper on a pair of Rusty Lee Swivel bases. Not the easiest of tasks as the MK6 Golf seat bases are a lot wider than the T5 seat bases.

I’ve fitted these exact seats into my t5, dead comfy and did it without replacing the passenger base and without swivel bases. Awesome looking seats

I may have missed it and it's already relaxed but try a steamer on that carpet hump. It should relax the fabric and it allow it to just lay flat as well as get rid of whatever creases you have.

Dan if you want to get rid of that loose bulge in your carpet, just warm up a few clean house bricks in the oven, lay them on a piece of cardboard on top of the carpet. Remove the instep again on the drivers door side and gently stretch across and re trim the carpet accordingly before replacing the instep. That should fix it! I can remember when VW’s came from the factory with offset seating and pedal arrangements…
Been thinking of some seat upgrades for my LT35 there are some nicer T5/T6 wondering if seat bases are ‘interchangeable’ I doubt it but you never know. Also had a look at some Audi seats but mainly only for ‘shi7s and giggles’.
Great to see progress on your workshop. I can relate to tools rusting etc.. worst time of year for ‘inside rain’ in my garage..

If you choose te mount a tin roof, maybe sound deadening the inside will improve sound quality. It may be cheaper than sandwich panels.
Yes, Will be going for a tin roof. will be using quilt insulation and then plaster boarding the ceiling to hopefully help with noise.

@@DanChambersDAC Some changes to seat rails are needed to get them up to the right height but should be a easy swap. The cabling so far is 'plug and play'.
The T5 is looking really good Dan and the seat conversion looks like it's meant to be there, with you rejigging the adaptor plate from Transporter HQ you should get royalties from each sale of the one you designed😆😉
The new workshop should be ideal when it's done mate as it's always best to build from scratch so you can design and build it then fit it out just how you want it for your needs, moving in by the end of Feb is pushing it a bit but knowing you it will be done, you could always ask the good folks from DIY S.O.S to help😁

19:03 Hi Dan, enjoy following your projects. Have you considered fabricating a ‘sliding mechanism’ below the seat, so you would slide the seat sideways towards the centre of the van before swilling it? Maybe that could get your driving position closer to being aligned with the steering wheel. You could perhaps achieve this sideways motion by using a ‘standard’ set of seat rails mounted sideways between the adapter plates.

Hi, Thank you! Hope you had a great Christmas. I changed the battery in the key 😂 realised that the key had been programmed so you press it once and it unlocks the front, press it twice and it unlocks the back....

Not tempted to take the front park of the bracket off that's hanging over on passenger or is it needed?
This will be trimmed back on the final plates yes, I just didn't want to cut too much off the plates for now.

They will keep the seat central if bolted direct to the seat base yes.
What material did you use on the lower trims Dan?

How high do them seats sit now?
They sit a little lower than the standard seats I think. I have them set as low as they will go.
MQB is mk 7 and 7.5...
Which drivers seat would fit that comes with an arm rest already? I have a t5 but not familiar with golf's n polo's and the like .
