That's the thing about the Grateful Dead, most people who aren't into them have never really listened to them.
I was never really into them for the longest time. Then I started to get into Hunter's lyrics which are quite poetic, on their own. I always thought their songs were witty; "Truckin" is a brilliant late sixties single that makes me smile every time I hear it. It's about maybe the most important part of life: perseverance. Actually, the whole "deadhead" thing kind of made me suspicious of them as I am an only child who has always been suspicious of groups, especially groups of "aficionados." So, I kept a safe distance.
Then one day a friend of mine tried to get me to listen to the 72" tour tapes. I eventually did when I was on a road trip. When I heard Morning Dew from the Lyceum 5-26-72 it was like, literally, all over but the crying. That song stirred something inside of me emotionally in all its beauty. Garcia immediately became one of my favorite guitar players. Now I can't get enough.

The Dead are the biggest unknown band on the Planet “ my first show was at the Ally palace in London ‘with the wall of sound and it was amazing I was listening to them for a couple of years but never got around to seeing them

Why would so many people who hate Chris Robinson even listen to this interview?
He spoke bad of the new incarnation of the 'Dead (Dead & Company) and was proven wrong.
He's a good dude, but the 'Heads had a bit of a backlash against Chris this last summer.
I find it kind of funny that many Dead fans hate him for dissing the new incarnation. because he's constantly playing both Phil Lesh and Bob Weirs nightclubs. and they frequently sit in with him when he does. so clearly they didn't take offense at anything he said. and they obviously like him a lot.
maybe because they appreciate a sincere opinon of a friend
Speaking only for myself, I just discovered him by watching an amazing jamming version of "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue" played in the Sirius XM studio. Blew me away...watched it about 8 times. So I wanted to learn more about the guy. Wound up here and was disappointed to learn that he's an inarticulate dipshit who can't say 3 words without using the word "like." Glad to help.

Sorry, Chris. There are very few Deadheads that ONLY listen to the Grateful Dead. We are FAR more musically astute.

Not sure if someone or thing will read this comment but I saw Chris Robinson 2-18-17 for free. Beer was free. People were gay. Well except me. Went on at 8:45 and said goodbye at 11:00.

Of all the blues/rock, psycadelic,classic rock bands 2 of them stand out as being beyond tedious to listen to. The Grateful Dead and The Allman Brothers Band. Soooo boring.
