He rides harder than 70 of most people, those trails are fork eaters, I love how he wears almost Zero body protection, I think he only had a helmet on, then he eats it with no gloves...
Man, this was a great review - I thoroughly enjoyed it. Your camera setup is great, too, and it's satisfying just watching the bike eat up these beautiful trails as you ride them.
Thankfully, your video popped up on my recommendations. After watching hours upon hours of "experts" talking about cycles, I get someone who is living it rather than talking it. I look forward to catching up on the rest of your content now. I'm going for the Specialized Rockhopper Expert when I can find one in stock. Finally, what a stunning trail and area to cycle. You've got yourself a sub from me.
Hey bro, im als looking at that bike, but I'm kinda worried about the fork, is it true that its not up to par with some other models in this price range?
Got the 2020 Fuse from my local bike shop in Tokyo. Got it as a spare to use when my full-sus is out of action (like now!) Picked it up for about 500 bucks since it it was a demo but practically new. (also with chromag handlebars and saddle) I'm also about 5`11" but the bike is an M! But actually I'm starting to really enjoy it! You are right, the Recon needs to go, probably a 34 fox would really liven it up! Good riding! Keep it up!
The stem is definitely much lower than on a lot of other bikes. There's not a lot you can do with such a short steerer tube, but you could try experimenting with headset spacers.
Sick riding 👍 you were just killing it. I'm actually looking at getting this bike. I agree that the front fork needs to go, my plan is to slap a pike on the front. Also did you have the rear chainstay in 420mm or the longer 430mm? I'm thinking of putting it in the super short 420mm and also getting the biggest chainring I can.
@@mtbholden8819 well the bike is off my list 😔 my local shop sold the last one a week ago. So I'm going back to plan A and saving up for a custom built titanium hardtail. Plus the titanium frame I want is only 1k more then buying a fuse frame and building that up.
@@kylerobinson6102 I found one at my LBS but they say their is a list of people with dibs... So I probably won't be able to snag it. although, if that was the case, I wonder why it's still there.. hmmm.
Depends on your riding style and how smooth you want your ride to be. Personally, I prefer my hardtail for most of my riding and only choose my full suspension for dh racing or bike parks. It also depends on where most of your riding takes place.
Did you break the shifter in the fall? Looks like it was barely hanging on afterwards. Also, what tire pressure do you prefer on the 29inch I heard you said you had it 13/23psi just wondering if you found something better?
One of the bolts had already come out, and it usually started loosening up partway through the ride. I was able to find a replacement for like $3. I was running about 17/23 and found that to be pretty good for most trails. Haven't found anything better yet.
Thanks for the review. How would you compare this bike to Xc full suspension like a SC tall boy for example? Mai focus on stability and comfort.... thanks
The tallboy would probably better on technical stuff, but might not be as much fun on jumps. The tallboy would certainly be a more comfortable ride just because you've got more suspension.
@@mtbholden8819 Nice. Thanks Jut for your information, a friend here in Brazil just got a Fuse and added an Rock Shock 170mm with two internal spacers. He is doing sick stuff with his rig now
Of course. I got a very small scratch on the stanchion which caused the rubber seal to deteriorate very quickly and lose oil. Partially my fault, but more expensive forks are typically made of more durable materials. Also, the smaller stanchions mean more flex at the front end of the bike, which I think makes for sketchier descending. Just my opinion.
Nice vid bro. Do you think it would be worth it to get the Fuse Expert over the Comp? The Expert has the Fox Float 34 fork and SLX crankset, but I like the gloss red color on the Comp lol.
This bike actually comes with the Shimano Deore 12 speed, which I don't really like. I would much rather have the Sram SX or NX, but for the price, I can't complain too much.
Oh my bad, I thought it had the SX. I just bought the Stumpjumper alloy, and it has the Sram SX, then of course I started reading all these negative comments about how it sucks, so I was just trying to get some other opinions. I like it so far
Hmmm. Correct me if im wrong or just ignore me, but why do 4 wheeled bike are called quad bike? While bike means 2 wheeler. then should it be Bi/Di-BIKE instead of a quad bike? Because “QUAD” & “Bi” or “Di” are prefixes. 🤔 hmmm, and why did i say 4 “wheeled bike” instead of QUADCYCLE or TETRACYCLE? Also, why do we say TRICYCLE a tricycle and not TRI BIKE or TRI MOTORCYCLE? Why it is called TRIKE for 3 wheeled but not QUADIKE for 4 wheeled? Don’t mind me just scroll
man awesome riding over hard terrain, did your skills just come over time and more seat time? i just recently got into the sport myself and purchased a Hardtail.
4.21 lol appreciate the review and I agree with the fork issue but my lord you are an amateur rider giving a “pro” review. You shouldn’t have hesitated. I work for specialized nz. The bike definitely needs a fox not a recon. My advice is a fox 34 140mm travel to raise you up the extra 10mm. Ps 16 psi front and 23 rear….. no wonder it’s vibrating like a bitch… suggestion… run 28 psi front 25 rear then the vibration will cease
Brakes is underpowered…The fork is total junk. My seat is broken after 4 rides. Lever for dropper post is already sticking after 4 rides. This bike is under spec’d. I can take this on trails but the components are total crap. The bike industry is now for rich weenies. Gotta spend $3,500 to get a decent hard tail…in this aluminum crap frame. So fragile. The bottom bracket creaks already because there are no seals for the internal cable routing. So much chainslap. Not a good chain guard.

Cool riding area and review video. I didn’t see that crash coming either.

Excellent picture and sound quality. Holden - I would recommend gloves for the descent ;) Keep up the great work!

Great video, thank you for your thoughts of the bike!
It would be interesting to see a comparison video if you could get a loaner new Roscoe 9
I'll have to look into that at some point
I’m impressed by the video and actually how fast are you going
I have ridden that trail quite a bit so I know mostly where it goes and am pretty confident on it.

RockShox Revelation or maybe a Fox 34. I put a Pike on mine but that would probably be a better spec for the Expert Build.

What do you think of the fuse 27.5 compared to say a Marin San Quentin?
It depends on what spec you get, but the Marin may be a slightly better value. They are both great bikes. Demo both before buying if you can.

It might be, but it would be hard to get these days since nothing's available.
Can the internal cable rattle not be dampened by wrapping them in some kind of silicon sleeve for instance?
I'm sure it could, but you would have to take all of the cables out and re-route them. It would be better if they did this from the factory.
