    Because of Dr, Gersch, I found a doctor specialist with hormones. I am 68, with osteoporosis, broken my hip. When I was 56 my doctor wanted to give me actonel for osteopenia. After a blood test it was discovered that I was very low in estrogen, progesterone, testosterone and dhea. I am still at the beginning of the treatment but so happy to have found someone who knew what to do.

    When I was 16, a birth control was prescribed for me that was so bad for my body, that when I stopped taking it 1 year later, my menstrual cycle ceased to exist FOR 17 years! During this 17 year period, I had 0 estrogen in my body, and zero monthly bleeds. Fast forward to age 29, I was able to have my son with insemination and hormones. After birth, still no periods. At the age of 32, my DEXA showed osteopenia. My doctor told me it is because I drink coca-cola! At the age of 34, my cyles resolved on their own, currently I am 49, still having periods. Because I wanted HRT for my bones and overall health, I had a DEXA 2 months ago: my bones are in the normal range. Moral of the story: estrogen-when in the body, DOES build and maintain bone. My current doctor is still telling me that bones do not rebuild.

    Was just diagnosed with osteopenia and all the NP said was to take some vitamin D and calcium. I just laughed to myself when I read that message, happy that I know better because of this wonderful doctor.

    I am 75 and have been denied hormones since I was taken off it when I was 52 because of the studies saying it could cause breast cancer. I have ask countless if I could get hormones again and have been told no every time. I think this is archaic and if this applied to men I guarantee the men would be getting it.

      If you are still healthy, no pre-diabetic, etc a menopause society practitioner would likely be okay with putting u back on. The problem is that as u get older and aging goes on the risk of estrogen goes up if u have existing heart disease etc. That's why my mother is denied. She was on hrt, they told her to stop after the WHI was released and now in her later 70s she wants back on but she now is pre-diabetic, with hypertension, etc. So it's too risky now.

      I am 75 years and I took estrogen same time as you. I believe my many health issues are caused from doctors taking me off estrogen. How crazy!!! I am now being tested for bone density because I now have a fracture in my fine. Makes me angry cause no estrogen ages a woman quickly.

    I developed severe histamine intolerence and vaginal bacterial overgrowth (strong fishy odour) after 10 months of missed period. These are all signs of microbiome dysbiosis. I started HRT and within a month everything was well regulated again. No more misery from itchy skin and smelly underwear. I always wonder how my friends cope without HRT. I was definitely miserable.

    What about IDC cancer in the breast and starting HRT after treatment?

    I just started vivelle dot patch and 100 mg progesterone. I wanted to start out slowly and let my body get used to the new hormones. I am 65 started peri menopause at about 47-48.
    I got my first dexa scan and it says osteoporosis. Doctor just sent a rx for fosamax. I refused to start it once I started researching. I think I have strong bones as I have always been active and used to lift weights
    Is it ok to start on this with the vivelle Patch and oral progesterone then once my body is used to that, then switch to pellets possibly with testosterone?????
    I watched your video on vibration plates. I can’t afford the marodyne as it’s 3,000$. I’m going to research a less expensive one if available. Thank you for that video. My friend has one of those and uses it almost daily.

      Pellets are not the same as estrogen. A lot of people get too much testosterone via pellets and you feel miserable

      If your DEXA shows osteoporosis then you are not as strong as you believe you are despite your activity. It’s a shock to discover this.

      I have a history with pellets. Not good. Very expensive just a $$$ for the doctors. It cannot be controlled so you start out with too much and after 3 months have too little. It’s the right dose for a short amount of time. Cost me $5000 3/4 times a year for both estradiol and testosterone pellets. Now I use an estradiol patch and oral micronized progesterone (mostly covered by insurance) and compounded testosterone cream.

    OP drugs are not ideal, however for anyone receiving pharmaceutical treatment whether anabolic or anti-resorpative, is there any advantage to simultaneous HRT treatment?

      Yes, I just read a randomized controlled trial from before the WHI (Women’s Health Initiative) where they added HRT to a bisphosphonate. There were three arms to the study: one with cyclical HRT plus the drug, one with static HRT plus the drug, and one with the drug alone. Both HRT arms performed better than the bisphosphonate by itself. The cyclical HRT arm had slightly better results. It’s old research, so the products used in the study were not Bioidentical, which our body would naturally work best with.

      My friend of 70 received calcium IV for months.
      She has bad teeth and thyroid problems and takes also thyroid meds.
      So horrible your post.
      So sorry...
      Can you restore this with HRT?

    Does Medicare cover the blood work for the entire panel including testosterone and all the other things they should test for in hormones and thyroid?
    I can’t find any bio identical doctors here inthe Bay Area that take a Medicare supplemental for the office visits. I’m on the best, a supplemental policy and original Medicare.
    I know it doesn’t cover the pellets under the fat, but some drug plans cover the vivelle dot patch and the progesterone.

      @@kikigirlkauai You just have to find a Gynocologist in your network who is knowledgeable about HRT. You do not need a bio identical doctor, whatever that is. My insurance partially covers my estradiol patch and progesterone pills because my doc prescribes them. I pay out of pocket for testosterone cream that compounded. I’m on Medicare

    I had a hysterectomy at 47. I am now 69 with osteoporosis! Also, I now have a T12 fracture and a partial hip replacement, which happened after the T12. Would HRT help instead of drugs? Thanks Judy

    • @judyculang3766
      @judyculang3766 4 місяці тому

      @@judymeadors7192 HRT takes years to have a long term effect on one’s bones. It has a more immediate effect on quality of life, heart health and cognition. You can start at any age but obviously early, in perimenopause, will have the most positive effect as we age. So no, at this point you can use HRT to replace bone building drugs

    • @elaine2158
      @elaine2158 2 місяці тому

      It will help, at the right level. But it may not replace drugs. It depends how weak your bones are, your fracture risk, what other steps you're taking.
