This is honestly great training. Let them do their thing and correct them. It’s the only way to learn properly. It ingrains it in the long run. Especially when you’re cordial about it.
Right. My managers don’t train me that way tho. Which sucks and it doesn’t make any sense. They don’t want me to have the chance to make mistakes and mess up. I have to be absolutely perfect like Gordon Ramsey
When I got trained, they were like just watch me do it. "Okay, go do prep bc it's getting busy." Then I'd do wrapping. A week straight of this. I got let go bc I wasn't learning fast enough. This.. is how you Train someone.
Me too 😂 I'm excited I had to pick up a second job obviously because of the storm inflation we have been in I work full time at Subaru Palm Springs as a service Porter come visit me at Jersey Mike's. In Palm Desert California ask for Nate Dogg
I'm glad to see you cleaned the knife after cutting a tuna sub. So many times I've had sandwiches ruined by being behind someone that ordered a tuna sandwich. I usually ask not to have my sandwich cut when ordering at any sub/sandwich shop.
It’s common sense not to cut a ham and cheese or turkey sandwich using a knife that was just in a fish sandwich lol fishy taste can be tasted even if there was just a little smear of tuna on it lol just as we know not to sit raw food next to cooked food lol it’s common sense
I work at jersey mikes, I’m going to be taking some things from this video for when I need to train people, Ty, I love how he’s only giving the necessary info and any corrections or questions he does it along the way, perfect
It’s common sense lol and most people tend not to have that especially when you nerves over making a sandwich. It’s the fact people think perfect exist it doesn’t just take your time . If people expect anything of perfect from a new hire will be foolish
Yeah I used to be manager at subway I hired and trained along with ordering scheduling etc I have an interview at Jersey mikes tomorrow but seeing this makes me slightly worried becaus I'm still engrained subway style. Lol do y'all make your own bread? I miss making breakfast and Italian herb and cheese
Thanks for this video. I was just recently hired, and I was struggling with the 2 vinegar and 3 oil because they wanted perfect rhythm, consistency, accuracy..- and I was so overwhelmed just trying to get the pattern down. I got it down, but I think I'll keep watching you guys for help. It's refreshing
I always go extra light on the oil and vinegar, the workers never seem to have a problem doing it, it’s Less work for them and less soggy leftovers for me
I started working at Jersey Mike’s and yesterday was my official first day wrapping I can do it in my sleep now I start sprinkling today and I got “mikes way” down packed other than that I’m good it’s easy
great video...thank you! question, with all the prep, how many people does prep every morning prior to open? How soon would they come in prior to open? just wondering because i heard one dude say he does the prep alone..is that a thing?
honestly kind of irked by the ham obelisk being imprisoned within the drawer?? kind of weird but thats just me.... just a patron of jersey mikes wondering why in the world theres a ham cube locked up??!!!
This is legit to slow, not enough yelling, we gotta move faster, okay? Make sure your putting 2 vinegar and 3 Oil on that, because it's not soggy enough. This was the way my location was LOL, then working on the too many chiefs, not enough Indians had the owner telling me to cook on the grill one way, his wife telling me to cook another way, and a couple of random coworkers telling me to cook another way. I'm just along for the ride right now for the documenting of the working environment. I don't see a long term career for someone like me. Who honestly has more experience? The amount of stuff I've witnessed at the location I'm at is making for great content. How you were able to record in a store is amazing because I can tell you now they won't let me do that.
Haha Seen them using the same knife from the Tuna technically speaking this would not be Servsafe the Tuna washed with water doesn't clean away the Tuna which could be a allgery to the customer(s) on the new sandwich a new knife would be need just like when using gluten-free. This is fun to watch I mean I like the gloves were changed but then just spraying a tuna knife with only water is definitely not correct. That still has cross-contamination.
it's because it's a one off, the gluten free option is mentioned in training but never shown unless it pops up on an order bc it's too expensive to waste
Just took my food handlers permit, and I noticed you didn't wash your hands after taking off your gloves and putting on new ones after handling the bag. Later on your rinsed off a knife that was used to cut tuna, aren't you supposed to wash, rinse, and sanitize to prevent cross contamination? What if someone came in with a severe allergy to fish and had an allergic reaction? And then you tell your employee to just change gloves without washing their hands... I'm telling mom Thank you for the video, I'm starting next week at jersey Mike's, so appreciate a heads up and study guide! 😊
Love the feedback Rob! Can’t wait till you start having a blast in your store! All your comments are valid and appreciate having someone give us some coaching and reminders, gotta lead by example.
such a dead end job -) I can clearly see how you getting skin eruptions wearing that gummy gloves all day long and your spine hurting standing on yet feet. It's inhumane. Quit having jobs and become investors, people. Your lives will thank you.
Oh god you have to stand on your to legs allllll dayyyy? That sounds like the hardest thing in the worldddddd. Its so inhumane that they also get paid for it? That sounds so terrible God bless their souls. You sound like the laziest person ever. These jobs help you build social skills and help you learn how to work hard instead of slacking off all day. Its an interesting experience and is only bad when you complain about it instead of making the most out if it. People need to start somewhere.

That passive aggressive comment about the salt while dude was obviously nervous is what will make or break you in foodservice 😂

I just finished training and Start my official first day soon so watching these help
How long did it take for them to schedule you for a interview ??
It’s prolly too late but it’s through the website harri and you schedule a time of your choosing if you are selected for an interview
@kyirahplayss190 I went through indeed and it took me about a week maybe

I been watching you guys vids so long I wouldn't need training
If you ever needed a job, just know you’re hired 😂
I go there so often I wouldn't need training either!
I'm glad to see you cleaned the knife after cutting a tuna sub. So many times I've had sandwiches ruined by being behind someone that ordered a tuna sandwich. I usually ask not to have my sandwich cut when ordering at any sub/sandwich shop.

Mannnnnn Jimmy John's is sooooo much easier and so much quicker. Worked in both and man. I enjoyed JJ's taste and easiness way more.
do you know if the beef used for cheesesteaks is 100% beef, OR, does it have any "soy protein" added ? Thank you. I can't have soy
That’s allot of damn oil and vinegar 😂😂
In the beginning, he scraped crumps from the prep counter into a container. 5 seconds later, he brushed bread crumbs onto the floor. 🤦🏼♀️
Place is ALWAYS DIRTY NO Sanitizing what so ever
Please train them to cut the sandwich all the way through! Thank you! 👍🏻👍🏻
honestly kind of irked by the ham obelisk being imprisoned within the drawer?? kind of weird but thats just me.... just a patron of jersey mikes wondering why in the world theres a ham cube locked up??!!!
That ham has committed many crimes.
Wow, do you put that much oil and vinegar on all your subs? Bread must be soggy as hell! 😂
so d'y'all bake your own bread at JM's or buy the baked bread from elsewhere ?????
Sorry it’s a year late, but we bake our own.
My guy nerves it’s just a simple sandwich lol

it's because it's a one off, the gluten free option is mentioned in training but never shown unless it pops up on an order bc it's too expensive to waste
@@hxaza thanks for the explanation, it easy useful and not something they went over in my training
