**Emphasis** 40 yards is a good ethical max with this load. I thought we tried to emphasize that well, but maybe not.
Great video/ test
Thank you!
Good show
We appreciate you.
After all these videos, I’m pretty sure there are a lot of scared turkeys in the area. Thanks for sharing your findings, always enlightening and entertaining. Be well guys, and God bless.
Love your videos keep up the good work I don’t care what anybody says. Sometimes distance is hard to judge. There’s been a lot of turkey hunters killed turkeys past 40 yards.
Thanks, Kevin! We appreciate you watching!
Great video! It’s important info for hunters, for sure.
I had a gentleman tell me he won’t hunt turkeys past a 100 pellet count in a 10” pattern. So in this case that lbxr choke would be limited to 30-35yd, and the pinhoti might go to 45-50.
I personally really like that rule. It might not be necessary but it gives me a lot of confidence.
I think that’s a great rule!
That is the standard I use. I have heard others say the same, but I just felt like that was a good rule of thumb based on pattern density. But when I was a kid shooting #4 upland game loads, we would shoot a can. If the can had 8 or 10 holes in it, it was good to go. Things have changed a lot!!
A lot! You still killed them, though.
doubt a single #6 lead pellet at 60 yards going 1000 FPS at the muzzle would kill to be honest
You’re probably very right.
Pellet energy would be dismal I would think.
You would be wrong sir. 60 yrd turkeys die every year with this load
glad you are being honest
so if you have to say you are being honest......does that mean you usually arent honest? Just an honest question
After patterning LBXR last year in my 20ga. I ended up with Trulock LBXR choke shooting #6
40 yds. my maximum.
Curious what pinhoti choke you used .585 or .555?
It's the .565. What constriction is your?
Who misjudges range by 20 yds? 35 and closer.
Just something to say. Maybe a field edge.
@@ReviewThisThing I just bought this load for my 20 ga. What alot of folks fail to talk about is energy. That load, at 1,000 fps, is 2-300 fps slower than 12 ga loads. Thats alot of steam youre losing, and why keeping your shots close is important. Nice vid, though.
@@jasonschaub30 fantastic point!
Me!!😂😂
😁😁
That’s 35 yd setup, leave yourself 5yds for judgement error. If you misjudge a turkey by twenty yds you need to pick up the fishing poles and leave the guns alone. # 6 lead will not kill at at 60yds, it does not have the energy/penetration ESPECIALLY, moving at only 1000ft/second, that’s a wounded bird at best. Have to give this one a thumbs down for misleading ppl that don’t know any better. That’s a 40 yd setup at the very best, and that’s pushing it.
I tried to reply, but it's not showing up. Yes - you are right, we would never intentionally shoot past 40 yards, and I get your point. I will, however, tell you that the first turkey I ever killed (remember I said FIRST - I've learned A LOT since then, and am a much better judge of distance) was actually at 60 yards with this very load using a Remington 870. Again - I would NEVER do it again, but it did work.
@@ReviewThisThing - with what gauge/# shot? yes it can be done, but not with a 20g number 6 moving at 1000fps. Lacks the power and pattern density. Tss of course, but still frowned upon
Same exact load. Remington 870 20 gauge LB XR #6. Again - wouldn’t do it again and didn’t think it was that far, but it happened.
@@ReviewThisThing - wow, the magic pellet connected
😁
Both of those shots were plain awful TSS is all you can shoot out of a 20 gauge that Long Beard is just junk
Did you see all the other TSS videos we did with it. We definitely hunt with TSS.

It’s the .565.
What is the constriction on yours?
@@ReviewThisThing My Trulock LBXR is .565
After looking at Trulock website again they list a .560 and .585 for Mobile chokethreads.
Gotcha!
