Hi Sam.I too really dig The Four Freshmen. I don't know if they could trade fours with her backing group as Anita O Day just did on There Will Never Ever Be Another You. Most jazz singers , apart from Mark Murphy wouldn't have the chops to do so. Dick Tynan Dublin Ireland 2021
Hey Dick. I've been a fan of The Freshmen all my life and remember in the day when they had concerts with Ted Heath, Stan Kenton, June Christy and Nat Cole. Saw a couple in college and was awed to see them together. Last saw group#22 in Houston in 08. Sounded like the original group. Don't know how they keep the sound. Bye the way, are you related to Ronan? His rendition of "I'll take you home again ,Kathleen" always brings tears. Sam Bean Houston Texas
That she was keeping the form while scatting with no other instruments was first rate, as was her scatting, she would have made a great instrumental musician if she wasn't.
@@freeweight5437 Thanks for the info. Will take a look. Just great music from excellent artists. In San Antonio in the late fifties I saw a concert with Ted Heath, June Christy, The Freshmen and Nat Cole. What a night!
But this is a live version..and she sang a beautiful recorded version early in her career. She was never going to do a song same way twice. (Bob Dylan likewise!)
anita, same face when she was 24 yr old ,she was a vocal force, unpredictable she will come with something that she will enjoy with the listeners.
Wow. There will never be another Anita!!
Damn🔥🔥🔥🔥♥🙏
Yes! There will never be another Anita!!!

The lady just exuded rhythm!

My dad taught that if I couldn't say something good about anyone then don't say anything at all. Period
Too jazzy. Many arrangements are much better. Listen to Nat Coles version. Has the poignancy it deserves.
Sam Bean You are so un hip!
