You don't even need to be keen on touhou lore to enjoy this, what a neat game
Touhou lore is much simpler than most people potray it as anyways. All boils down to magical girls, most with world-breaking abilities, shooting shitton of pellets at eachother and then having a tea party like nothing happened. Most of "dark" stuff just comes from the grotesque nature of japanese mythology, around which touhou is based.

Apparently this game is one of the best ways to get into the overall over-arching Touhou lore, which includes the official games, CDs and official doujinshis, among other media

You’re in for a comfy time.
Certain guests you make custom dishes for. WOW them and they cast a positive spell card that helps you. Kasen summons a tiger to dance for you to get tips, Wriggle gets you more customers by putting on a firefly show, etc.
Not when you get to the bosses
This is one of the fangames that's actually a super chill experience, saw someone play it and it's definitely the kind of game you can get lost in playing for hours and the music is AMAZING, the perfect type of music to listen to while relaxing or doing artistic work or editing, that sort of thing

Played for an hour and immediately bought all the dlcs. The prime example of a fan-game that has a lot of passion put into it!

A fan game hitting this big and it's not even gacha. CRAZY
One of the best and most relaxing yet carefully challenging experiences of my life. Just consistent and expansive in everyway toward the end of content and quality. It's hard to imagine a game could be so well crafted without a massive price point, yet all of it is affordable. Something like for every 5 Dollars you get 10 hours of quality gameplay, funny dialogue rife with references, and cute art. The only drawback is a lack of direction in the first part of the game, while it establishes the direction of progress and the gameplay loop. If you're a Completionist or a Casual trying to have a comfy experience, both are readily possible to attain given a basic understanding of the game mechanics and a willingness to explore and try to do well. A forgiving but optimizable game in essence. I'd recommend this game to anyone that can stomach being associated with Touhou and cute anime girls.

This is a really great game and you do not even need to know about Touhou to enjoy it! One of the best fan games I've played and one of the best doujin/indie games I've played!

Not a Touhou fan, but have we ever gotten an "officially" translated mainline (shmup) Touhou game outside of Japan?
nnnnope.... all the official shmups are stuck on pc and you have to patch in a community translation. There's a few translated fan shmups though, some on switch

There is one already, but only on japanese stores, including amazon. It does come with the english translation, according to the devs.

How so? He's experimented more the last few games, so more mixed reception with more bugs, but he's not at the level of not trying to innovate or grow.
