I agree mightily! Perhaps this excellent channel isn't woke enough for the libtard algorithm... or, even worse, perhaps love of literature is being actively discouraged in school. Either way, it nauseates me.

Ok. Its a big book, and it has a giant cast. But trying to wrap my head around it all by drowning me in names i immediately will forget doesn’t really help... what helped me was in figuring out who the main character was and letting the other characters appear as in the order they appear. I’m still only on chapter 6 of the overall book. But this video just makes it seem so much more intimidating to me

You really shouldn't watch this is your ABOUT to read the book - only once you've finished it - which doesn't make any sense.

I'm reading book 3 of 4 and surprised and did not realize there were spoiler alerts
Took me six months to read this book but I made it lol. I read Anna Karenina first and I’ll admit I like it much better. The characters in War & Peace may be flawed, but it’s to the point where I don’t even really LIKE them anymore. I identified most with Sonya and what a dismal end SHE gets. I would have appreciated a better ending for the characters rather than the super long ending essay lol

Great summary of the central characters. You just need to add a perfectly spherical little falcon, completely separate from all the other circles, to represent Karataev. And don't forget about my boy Cpt Tushin (everyone forgets about poor Tushin... apart from Andrei, obviously).

As a huge War and Peace fan who has read the novel many times over the past 20 or so years, I keep questioning the number of Rostov children. Yes, it says Countess Rostova had given birth to twelve children, but never again is there even a hint to any other than the four mentioned. Additionally, the grammar right before that line indicates that whatever number of children are in the Rostov family, there must only be two daughters (“The Rostovs we’re celebrating the name day of the mother and younger daughter…. The Countess and her handsome elder daughter…..” followed by “The Countess was a woman of about forty-five with a thin, Oriental type face, who looked worn out from childbearing; she had given birth to twelve.”
It could be that only 4 survived infancy.. but honestly, that has never sat well with me (as you read through the whole novel and the Rostov’s face other challenges and sorrows- there is never any mention to any past suffering…)
Also, as a mother of 10 children myself, 7 of whom are boys, if the Rostov’s actually have 10 sons, that really colors the family in a unique way..
So, I truly think (though I know I may be incorrect) that Tolstoy simply changed his mind and decided not to give the Rostov’s 12 children and instead settled on the 4 & somehow this … mistake has been left in for us all to ponder…

The War and Peace 2016 version of the book has some inaccuracies compared to the 1966-1967 version, for example the uniforms used during the battle of Schongraben and Austerlitz were wrong in the 2016 version, the 2016 version used the 1811 attire instead of the 1805 uniform attire, there is also other inaccuracies but you can check them out.
This would be good if it didn’t give spoilers.
