Great tutorial, thanks. Do you know if this PC works without the Graphic card mounted on the PCIe slot? Because I need the all the 3 PCIe to mount others cards.
Do you think the same knowledge in this video can apply to putting a RTX 3060 from ASUS in the XPS 8930? That is my system and I'm looking for an upgraded GPU.
I have an 8920 and the front usb ports don't work right. I have to jiggle them around to get a connection . Is there a way to get the panel off or somehow fix the usb without taking it apart? Thanks
My Parents always had computers from Dell. Our first Dell computer cost over 3000 CHF back in around 1998. We had never a techical issiue with this pc's. Put it next to a monitor, press start and it worked - for years. So as a teenager I also bought a Dell computer. My first one was the Dell 430, around ten years later the Dell xps 8900, which is the one I using now, writing this comment here. Around two years ago I changed the gpu, the psu, mounted a better cpu-cooler and a fan more in front of the case, but it's still the Dell xps 8900. What I don't like in this version in the video (Dell xps 8930) is, that you couldn't mount a better, bigger cpu cooler. I like it when I can do upgrades if I want to, please keep that in mind Dell. I think my next computer I will buy down the road is an Alienware. We will see. 07.02.2021
I have the DELL XPS 8940 I'ii ask because when I plug the plug in the power the PC turns on for about 4 seconds and then turns off. While after I can turn it on regularly. So it is normal that it turns on by itself before being started: Thank you
Thank you so much Julio, my xps 8930 when I power on the psu fan will not run, do you know if that may be a fault or if it is normal for this power supply? Grazie mille
a really good option is the NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1650 SUPER™ 4GB GDDR6, its somewhat affordable, you can look at more higher end models like the NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1660 SUPER™ 6GB GDDR6 or even the NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1660 Ti 6GB GDDR6
Ok, this depends on a few things.... first off, does your intel core have an integrated graphics card? If it does then you cant install another graphics card, but if it doesn’t and your motherboard currently holds a separate graphics card then you can most certainly replace the graphics card. Next, is your motherboard compatible with the 2060? This takes a bit of research but generally look at the size of your new graphics card and check if your motherboard can even hold it. After all of that, if everything is compatible, check how much power your computer will need after the upgrade, your power supply unit (PSU) will need a lot of extra wattage to run without sweating, how much more? Well think about it like this... if i were to use 300 W on my pc i would generally look for a power supply thats around 600 W, i go a lot over for the wattage so that the power supply unit could handle everything (this will also just help maintain the life of your PSU). So to sum up and answer your question, its not only the p[power supply unit that would need an upgrade but also check if your motherboard is compatible otherwise you would waster your money. *also, if your wattage is already pretty low (your wattage needs to include your new component include ALL COMPONENTS WHEN CALCULATING WATTAGE) and if the power supply you currently have is already going to support this new component then you could just install the component without worry. If you want to calculate your wattage more accurately, user pcpartpicker.com and go to the system builder, from there enter all your components, your mother board, your ram and all the different components your computer has... when all the parts are selected, the website will tell you how much wattage the computer will use. Hope this helps :)
I had to install a new power supply in my XPS 8930 today after the old one died suddenly. Went well except the new power supply did not have the right size power cable for the slimline Blu-ray drive. Instead of cutting and splicing on the old one, there is an adapter for it.
Hi Jeff, Will you be kind to let me know witch power supply you have use as a replacement? I know is to late but here is a link for a Sata Male 15-Pin to Sata 6-Pin Slim line Power Adapter. If you game and are having thermal issues with this PC, leave the side cover off and swing the psu out about halfway. Gives the cpu fan much more cool air. Also helps keep the case from trapping hot air from the gpu. My temps drop about 10C by doing this. This is a terrible case design that should never have gone to market.
I was glad to see you struggle putting cover back on. That was the hardest thing for me to do and finally got it right !!
Why were you glad to see sb struggle the same thing you did? Does it make you feel like you’re less a failure? 😮💨

Well done on the replacing the lid. This video helped me get mine back on. Very fiddly job. Thank you.
thank you for this . really helped me out. especially on the clip in the pcie slot. damn hard thing to get loose
I would really suggest that you do a case swap on this system for better air flow and cooling
I am saving this video for later bc I'm proly gonna try and open my dell
Good tutorial. If you could make a video of how to install a TPM 2.0 chip on that PC specifically
Thanks. Very helpful.

it's been 12 days
did you get it yet?
Any idea if you can remove that metal triangle on the corner of the case chassis? It's blocking my new gpu from fitting in my computer!

The Dell Inspiron case cover is the worst design. I can never get mine installed cleanly either.

where does the ram go!?
It’s those little green sticks to the right of the cpu heat sink
