      I feel like they were hard done by the fact is was a great year for weird entries. There were stronger acts in that lane which (I suspect) scooped up votes that would have gone to them in less spectacularly strange years. Their final score did feel really at odds with how great and fun it was.

    My hot take? We need the juries to prevent block voting, but there should be a fair process to decide who IS the jury. They might even consider having a vote among Eurovision fans to decide who is in the jury for their country. Abolishing the jury won't necessarily be good for the contest outcomes, even though I desperately wanted Finland to win this year.
    Additionally, the juries should show some kind of form explaining how they gave points to each song. Give some kind of argumentation why they awarded points.
    Also, I need to mention, these are such fun categories for the overthinkies!

    • @vuivraalbastra
      @vuivraalbastra Рік тому +1

      After seeing how the juries influenced the winners in the past years, I'd rather have no juries than these juries - yes, they saved some great songs from bottom places, but that pales in comparison to choosing a worse winner than the one chosen by the public alone. But yes, having a much better jury selection would be ideal. They should be from different generations and from a varied number of music backgrounds for sure, I'm tired of certain genres getting the upper hand even with mediocre songs while exceptional songs in other genres get nothing. Additionally over 75% of the juries giving 10/12 points to the same song should be an oddity, not a common occurrence. No matter how good a song is, I find it weird that juries from different countries with different cultures would appreciate the exact same song out of 26... it's almost as if it happens just to make the public vote almost useless (not saying that is the actual explanation, just how it feels like to me).

It's a shitty thing to do and go again with basically the same song. Compare both Euphoria and Tattoo, there isn't really much difference, they sound the same. Nah am so disappointed about the results, France Serbia Portugal were underrated in both votes and concerning Norway at least justice been made for them. You're telling me Spain shall have a lower score than Croatia? Nah be for real. Countries like Armenia and Austria have been robbed so hard and that's such a shame basically Croatia got more than both of them combined in terms of televotes. Concerning Slovenia i think am gonna break my laptop in rage about those results. BUT THE MOST ABSURDE RESULT IS AUSTRALIA BEING 9th?????? TF IS THIS EUROVISION EDITION? • @aprilhoy4010
      @aprilhoy4010 Рік тому

      Personally, I would relish the excesses of weirdness and gimmicks that would be likely to happen if they totally got rid of the jury. Changing it to a 75%/25% split is definitely a compromise I'd be happy with, though.
      They'd have to come up with a different order/approach to announcing the results, though. Maybe announce all jury votes in one big bunch like the do with the televote now, but do it first. It would be wrenching to watch victory snatched away from a fun entry at the last moment, but it would probably make for good television waiting to see whether the televote could pull a good act out of the hole dug by the jury.

    Unpopular opinion: Germany is overrated by fans.
    Did it deserve 0 points? Probably not. Was it a good song? Not in my opinion. As a rock fan, I expect it to be interesting, for there to be meaning. Aside from incorporating some ballad elements, it didn't do anything for me. It felt bland and performative.
    At least I expect my pop to be generic, which is why a pop song will tend to be more popular than a generic rock song.
    A rock song enjoyed by the mainstream is a feat. It's why Maneskin is an undisputed winner in my book. They were the definition of substance.

    • @vuivraalbastra
      @vuivraalbastra Рік тому +1

      Yeah, it's not a bad song and was performed very well, but as a rock song it's just... there, I've heard many songs like it before and I don't listen to this genre that often. I wouldn't place Germany over any other country than UK and Poland (who was a generic dance song picked through corruption).

      Some of them are not old but still musicians that no one heard of or of little renown. Sweden did not deserve to win, peoples main reason for voting for the song is that it would be amazing for someone to win twice besides Ireland. Although it is a song contest, not a popularity contest. Personally, the song was euphoria part two. Czechia or Israel should’ve won. I did a whole analysis of what things would look like with a slightly weighted public voting system (keep current system for juries but award 15-12-10-8-7-6-5-4-2-1 points for televote), and the only top 10 change would have been Croatia jumping Czechia for the top 10. I know folks loved Käärijä and I did too. But Loreen won because she slayed the juries and got a whole lot of televotes as well. Not the result I wanted, but she 100 percent deserves it.
    The one I don't get is Spain. PB was brilliant and her performance was so brave. Dead last in televote was a crime. Like... there's "this song didn't hit" scores, and then there's "this song finished dead last" scores. And I don't understand how, for instance, folks look at this song vis a vis the performances of acts like Portugal or Albania and have it come out that decisively against Spain.

  • @vulturevulture1426
    @vulturevulture1426 Рік тому +2

    I do not like conspiracy theories, but this time I can't stop thinking that next year it is 50 years since ABBA won, so Sweden had to win to make a beautiful return of ESC to ABBA's country. Only Loreen is no ABBA. I am pissed at how the juries stole Finland's victory. They probably saw that in the first semi Finland had way higher points than Sweden, and decided to just make Finland lose with such a bang that no people's voting could repair that.
    This brings us to why we need the jury, what is their function and how they are chosen. I understand that these people cannot tell a good successful song from a mediocre one. Loreen is a perfect professional in technicality, but she is mediocre in talent and modernity. She had a chance to rise after she won in 2012, but she just could not. She is not a pop star, she doesn't have the x-factor. If she had, she would just come and give a guest performance and would wow everyone. By competing this year she has taken away Finland's chance to win, as well as so many fans' belief in justice. When the jury was voting it reminded me of Russian voting for Putin. Whatever we, millions of fans, think, it will be Putin. Oh, sorry, Loreen. I hope she felt something when she was keeping getting the jury points, but the crowd chanted "cha-cha-cha".
