You can't control what happens to you in life, but you CAN control how you respond. I believe that the way you responded with such positivity really helped you get through it. Glad you are in the clear now and here to inspire everyone around you in real life and here on UA-cam!

Hi Kimberly, thank you so much for sharing your story. 14 years ago I was diagnosed with Hashimotos Thyroiditis , Addison’s disease and type 1 diabetes. Your exactly right about your thyroid controlling everything in your body. If it’s out of wack for me I really feel it.

Being positive about things has huge role in your life! My grandma has had three different types cancer. And she has beat them all. She's turning 80 this month. She has always had a positive or maybe determined outlook. Whenever things look bleek and she might not recover from something she's like "I've got to much hell to give, I'm not quitting yet".

I had papillary thyroid cancer. My doctor told me that I was more likely to die from an auto accident on my way to surgery or follow-up exams than the papillary thyroid cancer. Still, I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

You are amazing!! Staying positive is the best medicine. It took me a bit to watch this because when you put this out my Mother was actually going through her thyroid issue. All her tests were inconclusive so they had to do surgery. With great happiness she didn't have any cancer, but the whole time I kept telling my mom stay positive it will all be okay. You are a survivor! You are blessed so much and thank you for sharing. Keep being the amazing person you are!

I had right side of my thyroid removed 6 months ago. Because I still have half I don't need to take medication. After 3 biopsies, and 1 of the biopsies was a genetic test which if no cancer is considered the final say that there is no cancer...that was the left side nodule. The right side was iffy so they removed it and tested it and no cancer. I thank God every day. But I want to say that my ENT, whom I adore, says that thryoid cancer is very slow growing and surgery is the way to get rid of it. She says that if you're going to get cancer, which is horrible in and of itself, that thryroid cancer is the best one to get bc it can be removed.. And you are absolutely right about attitude. It's HUGE in recovery. Thank you for sharing ❤💚💜💙💛

God bless you for your faith and strength. I am glad it's been a clear path since then and I know it will continue to be. My husband is just now 10 years past radical bladder cancer......lots of ramification from it but he has survived retired and still able to do anything he wishes ............ it changes a person but for the positiveness you show the greater you can heal and go forward. Very important to have positive caregivers and family to assist when we are down that they are up for their loved ones. I take synthroid also but nothing is wrong but had scans and tests for many years and I'm ok it just is low and I have it monitored every 6 months and I have no issues, thank you GOD, as life is for the living and busy and lovers of life and the beat goes on..................very emotional vlog and I can feel it as well having been down only half of that road. You are blessed and continue to be. Take good care and enjoy your lovely new home and have fun remodeling it all! Love it love it!!

It is such an important part of the body and it was hard to diagnose in me because I didn't have the usual weight gain etc. I have the opposite symptoms. Thank you for sharing your experience. I'm sure it will be a big help and inspiration to many. I was diagnosed with Grave's 30 years ago and have been on Synthroid ever since. It just becomes part of your life. I also know when to have my levels checked just by how I feel because, yes, the thyroid controls so many things in your body from skin, hair, weight, body temp, emotions, and so much more. I wish I could have watched a video way back when 'cuz it would have been very helpful and comforting. You are amazing. Love your upbeat attitude about everything.

I agree attitude is everything & you rose above cancer because of that! I absolutely HATE needles too & was more scared of the IV than actually giving birth to my daughter. I had a feeling going in that she was going to be a C-section baby & low & behold she was, but I just stayed calm the whole time & it makes it so much more relaxing on your body not being tense. I know cancer & childbirth hold no relevance to each other, but the relation is just having surgery & how scary it can be. And you're right they do use glue now for surgeries because I wasn't given stitches & was afraid to move for the same reasons you mentioned. After all is said & done, we are women - we are more strong than we think! My mother is a breast cancer survivor & has been clear for 15 years & she also stayed very positive & it helps tremendously when you have a loving support system! Thank you for sharing your story! God bless!

I found my lump in mid November, got my biopsy in December and didn’t get my results until January. Its February now and I still have not seen the endocrinologist and nobody seems to care in my area. Ive been waiting 2 weeks now to get an appointment and have been calling daily. Worst part of it all is i cant breath and my chest hurts. I have 4 children and it makes it hard to do the simplest tasks.

Thank you for your story. I️ know talking about having cancer isn’t easy. You said everything so amazing. I️ am 34 years old. I️ came out pregnant last year in March. In July they found a lump they thought was a Bartholin cyst. Went to have it drained and my life changed. I️ had to have an emergency surgery. They removed a tumor a size of a grapefruit. Had it tested and yes it came back as cancer. I had no reaction. I️ just say there thinking I’m pregnant how and why me? I️ had 2 children already and now with my third on the way. My life for the next months was nothing but appointments.. tests... surgeries. I had two surgeries while I was pregnant and had to have my baby girl 2 months premature. The cancer I️ had was leiomyosarcoma... very rare. Hearing your story I️ just want to hug you. I️ know when you said “you just want to be normal” I️ still to this day say the same thing. Battling cancer is no joke. I️ am glad Everything is good now with you. You are an inspiration . God bless you and your family! Hugs 🤗

I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer when I was 11 weeks pregnant. I had was 29, but I think I was about 23 when my thyroid started to go bad (we knew I had a lump when I was pregnant at 25). I had surgery at almost 20 weeks pregnant. My daughter was then stillborn 2 weeks later 😢 it's been a hard journey for me. I had 2 miscarriages that same year. It's been 8 years and I'm still having issues with my levels.

I have a friend online that I met years ago now and she had had Thyroid cancer at around the age of 20. I feel badly for her as she has experienced all sorts of issues with unbalanced hormones including excessive weight gain and all of that and she simply isn't in a position to be able to afford to get the help her body needs. It breaks my heart when I see my American friends literally suffering because of the COST of illness where here (Canada) getting the tests and such would never even be an issue. I take Synthroid and I had tested perfectly for the general test and then one day I saw that there is a second test that isn't routine and I asked my Dr, he printed the paper and two days later he called me and said I had a prescription to pick up. My levels balanced out and so did a lot of my health issues. It's so scary to think that an insurance company plays with people's lives based on "odds". I am SO SO SO SO Happy you were able to get the on the ball help you needed and were able to get an insurance company to help when one wouldn't and that it sounds like you had really top notch care!
I don't really have a question specific to when you had cancer but would love to know how that has changed you since you have been cancer free? Like, do you use extra sunscreen and try to eat extra healthy or be extra particular about chemicals and things based on the 'this may cause cancer" warnings on things or have you had a lifestyle change with cancer prevention in the back of your mind? I am sure you have to some degree, but the psychological side of any type of trauma always interests me as I have PTSD from abuse and I know that medical/health problems can cause a PTSD effect of their own!!
Thanks for sharing your story! It has to be hard to talk about the details you have likely tried to forget! I am sure it will help someone, even if it is for a preventative checkup!!

+Marisa S thank you and that makes me sad to hear about your friend. May i ask what test you took that wasn’t routine. My dad had thyroid cancer as well and has never been able to take synthroid the way i do and still almost 12 years later, so many specialists and doctors can’t regulate him and can’t find how to get rid of all the side effects he gets. I on the other hand am just fine.

The TSH test which is the one that is routine here tests for the thyroid hormone. Mine always said my thyroid was functioning normally but I felt like ______ and was gaining SOOOO much weight. My friend actually asked me if I had ever had the T4 test done and I had not, as it is generally NOT routine. The T4 test checks how much of the thyroid hormones are leaving your pituitary gland and are available to your body. So, for me, my thyroid was putting out the right amount, but it wasn't going beyond the pituitary gland into my system, and the T4 test is what showed this and that's when I began Synthroid. I had to specifically ask for this test and my Dr is absolutely amazing and sort of did a facepalm because he hadn't thought of this test on his own. My Dr recently went back to school, so when I need to get refills done and my levels checked later this year, I will have to specifically request this test to the new Dr or my numbers may look wonky!
*Google says "Free thyroxine (free T4) tests are used to help evaluate thyroid function and diagnose thyroid diseases, including hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism, usually after discovering that the thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) level is abnormal."*
But, in my case, the TSH always was well within the normal range. The Synthroid hasn't had an effect on my TSH but has had a positive effect on my T4!

Thank you for sharing your story. God bless you! I have been on thyroid meds for over 9 yrs. and I finally got the right dosage in 2014- 15. It's a tiny butterfly in the bottom of neck but it is so funny how that tiny little butterfly in your neck can affect you so much. For those who are tired all time and gaining weight when your diet having it change please go get blood work done . My friend kept telling me years to do but I just kept putting it off. I finally did a year later and found out I have underactive thyroid problem not enough hormones. So glad everything worked out for you God is good. P.S. sorry for my long comment lol. :)
