Love this channel even though I don't own one. Wouldn't touch a B7 or B8 RS4 legends or not after watching these. I feel for all the owners shelling out 💶
Why? The cars will only become rarer and more collectable with time and with proper maintenance and money spent into it, will hold better value in the future, I regret not buying one partly taken apart for 7k last year seeing the price of them now
Best way to go, donor engine and replace everything prone to wear while the engine is out. Money will be forgotten when the car provides a smile to the driver/owner again.
As a tech and engine builder..overhauls don't last as long as a factory motor..be it controls on torque cleanliness.tolerances and aftermarket kits..for example a melling chain kit made in China..
@@kurtjammer9568 that depends on the quality of workmanship and like you said quality of parts used as well. I specialise on BMWs and wouldn't use aftermarket parts on a build otherwise it's just a waste of time and money.
@@kurtjammer9568 it's not always the case, sometimes you lose and sometimes you win. Here in SA a "low mileage" only carries "start-up warranty" so it's a 50-50.
Always really enjoy your videos, I'm not sure how you sleep at night juggling so many engine builds but you seem to have it well organised.I also appreciate (what customers miss ) the time it takes to do all of the incidental things like ordering and pricing with TPS ( I know myself daily), parts inventory, keeping the customer updated etc it takes up so many hours, I sometimes find doing the actual work itself the easiest bit & then you make time to post these videos, but you have it seems a good reputation and well deserved. Keep up the good work
Thanks for sharing all the details Tomas, that's quite needed for all of us, specially directly from you with all the logics behind. I am not an owner of any S or RS simply thanks to you and I love my GTI. Cheers from Sweden man!
I have a b8 rs4 Sepang blue , the best colour,I’ve owned it for three years and have spent more than I thought on up keep but that’s what you need to do ,I was warned many people skip oil changes and especially gear box oil, not cheep but £800 for oil change over new gear box a no brainer
I once heard a taxi driver in breakers yard almost in tears , he bought an engine off them had it fitted and was crap, he was in his sixth engine and had been offline for two weeks , some people supply crap unfortunately you guys do it properly
The B7 Rs4 was the dream car I wanted own since when I was in school. The only thing that put me off buying one was the unavoidable expensive repairs that will have to be done on a 17 year old car. Thanks for another great video, VAG cars will give you great business 😂
Having bought a c5 rs6 you've made the right choice not getting one because of the very reason you stated. However, if you have the money I'd recommend buying one with the goal of selling it 6 months later for minimal loss. As its a dream car I'd be a hypocrite to say not to get one because I was dumb enough to pull the trigger. A regret but not as much of a regret of NOT buying it. I'm keeping my rs6. I'm it's last owner before the scrap yard. Do not do what I did. Do it differently, but don't not do it at all.
@@R6AAO I'm staying clear, rather just admire these cars from a distance. I wanted to buy to keep forever but it would just be a never ending money pit.
Thanks for doing these videos. I’m not a car mechanic, I can work on my dirt bike. But I watch every video and I understand so much more about my a4 now and I’ve caught dealership and shops in lies thanks to your videos and knowing what exactly to ask and say. Keep it up.
I hope you tube reward you for all your time and efforts you obviously put into these productions...if not they are a great advert for your workshops ethics and technical abilities...
Like a lot all the details you provide to us. So im ready now i just start the process of rebuilding a 4 banger 2.0L TFSI from a Golf R mk6. Im stripping down now and straight to machine shop. I fell confident.
What brand lift table is that blue one? I’m looking to get one asap. noticed you still had the suspension connected which is what I’m looking to do as well
Audi make garabge cars. Keeps this guy in work. Loved and hated my A7 so much. NEVER again! Japanese cars for me from now on! £15k.... 20p box of matches!!!!
Yes, what you do on the second hand engines is totally justified. You also have your reputation to consider as well as customer satisfaction. Only two types of people should own these cars, those who are rich as hell to pay for the servicing and upkeep, and those few with the skills and knowledge who can do this work themselves. These cars seem to have design weaknesses built right in by Audi. If you can afford a brand new one, way to go, but if you buy a second hand one, all bets are off!
Is this dropped valve only an issue on the 4.2 rs engine? I have a b8 s4 and never heard of the 3.0t having this issue but same gen and everything is a bit worrying 😂
Why oh why would anyone buy a Audi with all these chocolate engines.we are in the 21st century and I’ve never heard of so many bad design engine failures, being a old school mechanic I wouldn’t touch a unreliable Audi engine, absolutely shocking.it’s like driving about in a ticking time bomb, just ready to cost a customer thousands of pounds to repair…
Not sure if an emissions thing, thin oil, reduce engine drag to extreme, lean out the mixture, direct injection for carbon build up. I run first gen volvo i5 turbo, non of these flakey issues. Have a remapped one at 279k, just needs some valve stem seals for little bit of oil burn on startup.
Cause they are reliable I have an Audi 3.2l basically this engine with 2 cylinders off and I have 160k miles on my car still runs great only thing I change was control arms all cars are the same pistons go up and down simple they all go bad
Love this guy. Straight up professional
always - knows his stuff - and a great guy personally as I've had work done by him on my car

Minding your on business, is one I should’ve gone into years ago, best advice I could ever receive.
If you get time, it would be great to have a bit of a workshop tour. It looks like you've got a fantastic space.
One day 😀 messss atm

Building an engine is better than buying a 2nd hand one. If it's done right like you do.

A low km used engine probably way to go if comp.tested and running before pull

It's amazing how you don't see the 2.5L daza engine on this channel.
Love the channel.Last wag group car i had was the Passat 1.9pd,lasted to 290k miles now I drive a Toyota.
excellent content yet again. Well done! Good luck with the A8 too! We are keen to hear how it turns out.

Clear explanation, great solution, you never use rebuild long blocks from a rebuild company? Saves a lot of time.
short block, i think.
Good professional Audi specialists. 😊
9:10 what a drop!
Exceĺlent work guys
Nice vid but one question. What happened with the A8 that had the hybrid system problem? We are still waiting for that video ..
Brilliant mechanics these fellas. Shocking just how bad these high performance Audi engines are.. would not buy..
It's not just Audi performance engines, I've seen it on BMWs and Mercedes too. Most of them are money pits
The more complicated they get, the more bills you gotta throw at them.
Great work 👍
Always informative. Great stuff mate.
Any details on the liner process? I have a 7 cylinder 4.0T and am really curious.
from all audi you have fix, which 4.2 v8 code or from has best overall fix and perfomance?
Great video as usual 👍
What brand lift table is that blue one? I’m looking to get one asap. noticed you still had the suspension connected which is what I’m looking to do as well
Most people who buy these cars can afford to spend 20k on it anyway.
That's the joys of being a petrol head ❤
piston rings must be compatible with the liner otherswise it will not last, isnt it so?
Do the B& rs4 engines have the same valve dropping issue?
how does that main bearing not get lubricated? Lack of oil changes? Low on oil?
There was some dodgy magic done from previous repair
where do you buy those Audi sweaters/hoodies?!!!
Love the channel, but i don't think I'll be buying an Audi .
Naglasak sa ex-yu prostora ili grijesim?
I can't believe these high end cars develop catastrophic issues such as the ones seen here.
always wanted a rs car but i could not drive it knowing this could happen.
Hello Vag Technic, I have a question for you guys what is Code P04f0? Do you guys have any idea what it is? I got this on my b9 s4
Buy an RS4 but make sure you have a spare £15k for a rebuild which makes TPS very happy😂
Did you buy that motor complete with spare gearbox?
It was full thing yes
Nice video 🙌😊👍👌🍀
Audi make garabge cars. Keeps this guy in work. Loved and hated my A7 so much. NEVER again! Japanese cars for me from now on! £15k.... 20p box of matches!!!!
Just buy the 4cyl manual without independent rear suspension. Just like my B5 & C5 with 1.9 TDIs 😅

Your right there B8 V6s are wayyyy more reliable than V8s I think it's the high revs I have a 3.2l and I never have issues 160k strong
What is your Dobermann's name?
How much for a brand new engine direct from VAG?
Probably 3-4x a used one for a used one to make any sense...
32k GBP

The gift that just keeps on giving us content... Audi 😂😂😂😂
ups, it is too wide😀😀😀😀
My calculations make your labour rate around £113.00 per hour is this correct?
96£
Thats not bad at all 👍@@VAGTechnic
Local Volvo dealer to me is £152 an hour 🤣
I wouldn't touch an Audi after watching the issues that VAG have to fix
there must be any easier way of making a living instead of dealing with these pieces of scrap
Makes you think twice about buying an Audi….🤔
Wouldn't touch an audi, like they are made of chocolate, lucky they poo so plenty work for you, keep up the good work brother

These are revved high, bought for performance and sound they are exotic like an M3 which also break
Looks like Audi build rubbish engines, considering the cost.
