Actually, this song is from 80s, 90s and is a romantic song that literally means, "you have already stolen my heart, don't refuse to look at me, you have changed my life for good, but don't change yourself ever" so putting indian ornamentations/embellisments will take away that silliness, from the song ! There are many instances when song is sung simply like this with minimal usage of Indian classical techniques. But that doesn't mean it is not based on raga. Raga is not technique or a way of singing(for ppl from other counties they think raga means indian way of singing), Raga is a set of notes(in ascending and descending order), every raga has a "chalan" small piece of music which is the soul/character of that raga. Every raga has a "prakriti", temperament, it may be serious, happy, delightful, sad, angry etc. So this song might have been taken from a raga whose prakriti is restlessness or "chanchal" , so the female lover is restless and is complaining to her love.

Film music is actually a kitsch kind of music drawing from many genres, Indian, Eastern ( to us) & Western kinds of Music. Hehehe regarding Asha Bhosle , the childish voice might be a little due to her age, cause otherwise in her time she sounded even more high soprano. Also she is younger sister of Lata Mangeskar who is also a legendary singer of India and is considered among greatest singers in Indian music of all times and is nicknamed as nightingale of india.
Also probably the nasality thing is because of language and also in India, the singing is done with your full pure voice.
Both sisters don't have live singing videos because of old times of their youth but bbc did record their live singing of their more famous songs in one of it's documentaries.it can be part of your next reaction suggestions.

Also, in modern songs Indian music use western cord progression only but the singing is done in Indian style or songs has technique used in classical music. Like here too the song was romantic and from movie genre but there were use of "kan swaras". You can react to this teaching video as this vocal coach explains it very easily what this technique is and it's very common in Indian songs which makes it sound uniquely Indian and different from western style. They all kept practising everyday that's why there voice don't change with time and the sweetness too remains the same.
Too much practice doesn't improve singing.you end up with nodes on vocal chords

Back in time, it was a movie called Yadoon Ki Baaraat. Asha had her part in there with this song. All I can say is that, even from 70' to 2k21, this song still hits! Just for once, try to put both version head to head and you will be amazed by her voice. :)

This is the beauty that is lost in today's music. There was a whole orchestra background and every musician had something very unique and it all was so covering the theatre but the singer had to be the one who cuts through all that music and shine and make everything sound so good, this is all a one take and no post production, so this is as perfectionist as it gets on a grand scale from musicians to everyone on the stage
I would suggest you to just listen the original sound track which is almost 40 years old. At that age her voice was certainly much much better than this song. This song was from movie "Yadon ki baraat" and was inspired by the famous English song, "😊If it's Wednesday it must be Belgium"

So right. Indian women (ones famous in movie singing - not classical ones) will be thousands who sing at a very high pitch - else you don’t get selected. Classical singers (women) sing lower - they have no such compulsions.
😃😃 - so right. I live in Texas with lot of house building activity. Lot of times I think I am listening to Indian movie song and try to place it when I realize it is Mexican. (Except for the increased number of instruments - especially percussion). One thought for you - I notice you are focusing on very famous ones. May I pls suggest you to focus on a young guy - an upcoming one. He won a contest called Super Singer in South. He was actually eliminated and came back through wildcard. I would be so interested in listening to your comments on the song “Maduramalai maamaniye” sung in his wildcard performance. This is a classical yet a movie song and a tough song. Would love to hear your feedback.

This seems a bit different and western as it is a typical Bollywood movie song from the late 60s and early 70s. Bollywood movie songs are always influenced from what is in rage in that particular era but that dash of classic indian raags and trills is always there. This song is actually a sort of indian rendition or should i say heavily influenced from a western movie song from that era Bojoura-If It's Tuesday It Must Be Belgium. The song performance in your review itself is a bit different from the original one sung for the movie by a much younger Asha Bhosle back in the early 70s. You will find many bollywood songs from that era to have that mexican / retro western music vibe. Look for the original video and soundtrack from movie "Yaadon ki baraat" , song "Chura Liya hai tumne". It is a duet actually but the male vocals come way at the end. You have to watch that song to get the understanding of the aura and the era this song carries. This is one of the all time greatest songs for Indian cinema. Remember Indian movies or Bollywood movies typically always have songs in the storyline that are lip synced by actors and backed up by professional singers.
