Saab 9-3 6-Speed F40 Stiff Hard Gear Shift Repair FIX Install Gearbox Turret

Installing a repair kit for my 6-speed F40 gearbox, to get it to shift easier. Good result! Very cheap upgrade!!

Great video and explanation, however this doesn't work for the xwd version as it has a different shifter tower/turret

While yes theyre different in geometry, the main method of replacing this component remains the same.

I can confirm, I have a XWD 2.8 manual, the X8R kit is not compatible, If I remember correctly, it does not fit/geometry does not match.

On my Chevrolet Captiva from 2012, 1st and 2nd gear are difficult to shift, especially when cold, do you think the repair kit could be the solution?

No not really. I think its more to do with worn synchros. A gear oil change with new correct oil is probably a better option.

Hi, how are you liking the fix? Did it stop the grinding in second gear?

I guess shifting is smoother, but getting into second when the oil is cold, requires correct speed. So the synchros are probably not in the best shape, but the car have done 342.000km

Change the gearbox oil..in this mileage..it's a must.
