Hi, thanks for this video ! it was very useful for my Saab 9.3 1.9 TID of 2006 with 211000 kms. I used Castrol syntrans transaxle 75w-90 oil with 4% Mecarun P18 treatment.

      T'as un F40 aussi sur une 2006 ? Ou une m32 ?
T'as mis combien d'huile ?

Thanks for all the videos, they've been of great help especially for double-checking all the quirks in removing trim and other things, and it's funny how you just happen to have the same model, year and color as mine. WIS states that both mine (F17, Z18XE) and your gearbox should have OEM-number 12799117, and the oils that I've found with that number are GL-5 (API GL5). Still, you advise not using GL-5? Edit: Ah, found older comments asking the same question - yes, the one I found (Febi Bilstein 32590) was both GL-4 and GL-5, so then it's all good I take it.

Right next to the axle where you install it is a small round plug with a Allen key hole. It's the same plug as the drain plug. Need non synthetic mineral based fluid. I seen people using 3309 ATF mobile 1 Good luck. When you look at the drain plug from underneath. Follow it straight up from looking from the driver side with tire off look at the plug with the Allen key hole to the right of the axle where the fluid came out.

Is it still the same quantity of 2.4 ltrs for the 5-speed automatic box?
Also does the drain plug/bolt need to be replaced or can it be re-used? As I'm having trouble finding one if it needs to be replaced. Is it 10nm for the drain plug and 25nm for the filler cap. Again many thanks again for all your great videos and merry Christmas 👍🎄

Now, do i really need to flush the transmission before i put in Castrol?
Gearbox has developed a mild scraping sound at low speeds and i hope it is due to bad oil or perhaps a leak from the drain-plug causing low oil level..

I just checked SaabWIS and it says fluid capacity total 2.4, fluid capacity refill 2.2L, presumably because 200ml remains in even after draining... I might ask them to split the difference and put in 2.3L, given they'll also be adding about 120ml of Molyslip 2001G.

@@gushungo0903 do the change and see how it goes for a week or two. I'm thinking sticky valve in the valve block, or low oil level. The fresh oil may 'clean' the valve, but be sure to check it has the correct level.
I don't know if this 'box is purely mechanical (unlikely these days) or ECU controlled (probably) in which case also check all connections for security, pin corrosion, damaged wires etc. I don't KNOW, but I'm thinking here that if there's a dodgy connection or a high resistance joint and the 'box is losing signal it may have a mechanical default that puts it into neutral (so fails safe). If you can get at it, also have a look at the edge connections to the 'box ECU. These have a habit of failing on ECUs of all sorts.
